Prevalence of Hematuria among Emergency Department Healthcare Workers

Background: In Taiwan, emergency departments are so busy that it is not uncommon for staffs (doctors and nurses) to be deprived of their lunch breaks or breaks to go to the restroom. As a consequence, during their busy shifts some emergency department healthcare workers choose to limit their water intake and no time to micturate which are both risk factors of urinary tract infection or urolithiasis. Hematuria is a common laboratory finding due to urinary tract infection and urolithiasis. Objective: To assess the prevalence of hematuria among the emergency department healthcare workers, we conducted a retrospective study in a district hospital in Taiwan. Documented data included those of healthcare workers who worked in the emergency department, as well as other departments of the same hospital. Methods: We reviewed the three-year records of general body checkup of hospital staffs who served in the emergency room and other departments of the same hospital between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2011. Statistical software SPSS statistical analysis of survey data recovery is applied;data and test results by the questionnaire analysis patterns are associated with the urinary system abnormalities to ANOVA analysis to explore the hospital group whether there is a significant sex differences, and the other to analyze and verify the correlation analysis to the Scheffe post-hoc comparison method. Results: A higher prevalence of hematuria was observed among emergency department healthcare workers when compared with their colleagues who work in other departments of the same hospital. Female workers have higher risk of urinary system abnormalities than male workers. Nurses in the urinary system abnormalities are higher than other positions category. Shift work system has a negative effect on the urinary system. Background and purpose To analyse the long-term risk of ischaemic stroke and the clinical effects of antithrombotics on the risk of haemorrhagic stroke in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted using a population-based database taken from Taiwan National Health Insurance Research *** with SLE between 2000 and 2008 were registered and matched with two controls by the index date,age,gender and Charlson Comorbidity Index(CCI).These subjects were followed until either stroke event or 31 December *** HRs(aHRs)for strokes were estimated with Cox regression models,and the cumulative incidence of ischaemic stroke was analysed by log-rank test and Kaplan-Meier survival *** In total,8310 patients with SLE and 16620 patients without SLE were *** general,patients with SLE had higher rates of ischaemic stroke(5.4%vs 3.3%)and haemorrhagic stroke(1.5%vs 0.6%)than in *** multivariate analysis adjusted to age,gender,CCI,urbanisation level and antithrombotics uses,aHRs of all strokes,ischaemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke were 1.73(95%CI:1.54 to 1.94),1.65(95%CI:1.45 to 1.87)and 2.24(95%CI:1.71 to 2.95),respectively,in patients with *** with SLE were significantly more likely to suffer ischaemic stroke than patients without SLE,even 10 years after SLE diagnosis(6.12%vs 3.50%,phould be carefully administered to prevent cardiovascular events in patients with SLE due to the risk of haemorrhagic stroke.

Core-shell heterostructure by coupling layered ReS_(2) with Co_(9)S_(8) nanocubes for boosted oxygen evolution reaction

The controllable morphology and composition of catalysts are crucial to improving the electrocatalytic activity of oxygen evolution reaction(OER).Herein,we construct a bimetallic heterostructure by sulfidation and hydrothermal methods,and the layered ReS_(2)is vertically aligned on Prussian blue-derived hollow Co_(9)S_(8)nanocubes(Co_(9)S_(8)@ReS_(2)).The core-shell structure of Co_(9)S_(8)@ReS_(2)can effectively prevent the restacking of layered ReS_(2),expose the abundant surface area and improve the utilization of electrocatalytic sites,resulting in fast electrolyte diffusion and charge transfer during *** to the synergistic effect of the core-shell morphology and the formed bimetallic heterostructure,Co_(9)S_(8)@ReS_(2)exhibits excellent catalytic OER *** 10 mA/cm^(2),only 288 mV of overpotential is required with the Tafel slope of 73.3 mV/dec for Co_(9)S_(8)@ReS_(2),which are both lower than that of Co_(9)S_(8)and ReS_(2).Meanwhile,Co_(9)S_(8)@ReS_(2)exhibits high catalytic stability and low charge transfer resistance and the boosted active sites are confirmed by density functional *** work provides a rational design of the OER catalysts by constructing the bimetallic heterostructure.

We aim to evaluate prostate health index as an additional risk-stratification tool in patients with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions on multiparametric magnetic resonance *** with biochemical or clinical suspicion of having prostate cancer who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in two tertiary centers(Queen Mary hospital and Princess Margaret hospital,hong Kong,China)between January 2017 and June 2022 were ***-magnetic resonance imaging fusion biopsies were performed after prostate health index *** who only had Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions were further stratified into four prostate health index risk groups and the cancer detection rates were *** of the 747 patients,47.3%had Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 lesions *** detection rate of clinically significant prostate cancer in this group was 15.0%.The cancer detection rates of clinically significant prostate cancer had statistically significant differences:5.3%in prostate health indexlinically significant prostate *** health index could be used as an additional risk stratification tool for patients with Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System score 3 *** could be avoided in patients with low prostate health index,with a small risk of missing clinically significant prostate cancer.

A fast forward computational method for nuclear measurement using volumetric detection constraints

Owing to the complex lithology of unconventional reservoirs,field interpreters usually need to provide a basis for interpretation using logging simulation *** the various detection tools that use nuclear sources,the detector response can reflect various types of information of the *** Monte Carlo method is one of the primary methods used to obtain nuclear detection responses in complex ***,this requires a computational process with extensive random sampling,consumes considerable resources,and does not provide real-time response ***,a novel fast forward computational method(FFCM)for nuclear measurement that uses volumetric detection constraints to rapidly calculate the detector response in various complex environments is ***,the data library required for the FFCM is built by collecting the detection volume,detector counts,and flux sensitivity functions through a Monte Carlo ***,based on perturbation theory and the Rytov approximation,a model for the detector response is derived using the flux sensitivity function method and a one-group diffusion *** environmental perturbation is constrained to optimize the model according to the tool structure and the impact of the formation and borehole within the effective detection ***,the method is applied to a neutron porosity tool for *** various complex simulation environments,the maximum relative error between the calculated porosity results of Monte Carlo and FFCM was 6.80%,with a rootmean-square error of 0.62 *** field well applications,the formation porosity model obtained using FFCM was in good agreement with the model obtained by interpreters,which demonstrates the validity and accuracy of the proposed method.

Capsaicin alleviates the hepatic clock gene disruption and gut microbiota dysbiosis in circadian rhythm disorder mouse model

As the body’s internal clock,the circadian rhythm regulates the energy expenditure,appetite,and *** exists a close relationship between the host circadian rhythm and gut *** this work,a circadian disorder mouse model induced by constant darkness(CD)was constructed to investigate the regulating effects of capsaicin(CAP)on disturbances of metabolism homeostasis and gut microbiota in the respect of circadian rhythm-related *** results indicated that CAP reduced weight gain induced by circadian rhythm disorder in mice by inhibiting fat accumulation in liver and adipose *** rhythmic expressions of circadian clock genes and lipid-metabolism related genes in liver were also recovered by *** study using 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that CAP modulated the gut microbiota richness,diversity and composition,and restored diurnal oscillations of gut microbes at the phylum and family *** results indicated that CAP could alleviate CD-induced hepatic clock gene disruption and gut microbiota dysbiosis in mice,providing theoretical basis for CAP to be used as a muti-functional ingredient with great healthpromoting effects.

Optical tweezers(OTs)can immobilize and manipulate objects with sizes that span between nano-and micrometer *** manipulating ability of OTs is traditionally characterized by stability factor(S),which can only indicate an empirical“hit-or-miss”***,the current quantitative models for trapping stability rarely consider the influence of external *** this paper,a comprehensive analysis to quantify the optical trapping stability in a perturbed asymmetric potential well is presented from the perspective of statistics,especially for weak trapping *** analytical formulation takes experimentally measurable parameters including particle size,optical power,and spot width as inputs and precisely outputs a statistically relevant mean trapping ***,this formulation takes into account general and realistic cases including fluidic flow velocity and other *** verify the model,a back-focal-plane-interferometer-monitored trapping experiment in a flow is set up and the statistical characteristics of trapping time demonstrate good agreement with theoretical *** total,the model quantitatively reveals the effects of external disturbance on trapping time,which will find applications where optical trapping stability is challenged by external perturbations in weak trapping conditions.

A single center analysis of long-term outcomes and survival related risk factors in liver retransplantation

Enhancing Safety in Autonomous Vehicle Navigation:An Optimized Path Planning Approach Leveraging Model Predictive Control

This paper explores the application of Model Predictive Control(MPC)to enhance safety and efficiency in autonomous vehicle(AV)navigation through optimized path *** evolution of AV technology has progressed rapidly,moving from basic driver-assistance systems(Level 1)to fully autonomous capabilities(Level 5).Central to this advancement are two key functionalities:Lane-Change Maneuvers(LCM)and Adaptive Cruise Control(ACC).In this study,a detailed simulation environment is created to replicate the road network between Nantun andWuri on National Freeway No.1 in *** MPC controller is deployed to optimize vehicle trajectories,ensuring safe and efficient *** onboard sensors,including vehicle cameras and millimeterwave radar,are used to detect and respond to dynamic changes in the surrounding environment,enabling real-time decision-making for LCM and *** simulation resultshighlight the superiority of the MPC-based approach in maintaining safe distances,executing controlled lane changes,and optimizing fuel ***,the MPC controller effectively manages collision avoidance,reduces travel time,and contributes to smoother traffic flow compared to traditional path planning *** findings underscore the potential of MPC to enhance the reliability and safety of autonomous driving in complex traffic *** research will focus on validating these results through real-world testing,addressing computational challenges for real-time implementation,and exploring the adaptability of MPC under various environmental *** study provides a significant step towards achieving safer and more efficient autonomous vehicle navigation,paving the way for broader adoption of MPC in AV systems.
