High-efficiency technique based on dielectrophoresis for assembling metal,semiconductor,and polymer nanorods

This paper presents a high-efficiency technique based on dielectrophoresis (DEP) for assembling metal, semiconductor, and polymer nanorods, which are synthesized by electrochemical deposition (ECD). The assembly patterns of these nanorods (width: 20 nm; length: 7 μm) were designed using a finite element method (FEM) simulation tool. Further, these nanorods were used in our experiment after their assembly patterns were fabricated. The assembly yield was found to be approximately 70% at an AC voltage of 30 Vp-p and at frequencies of 20 and 30 kHz, and the DC voltage prevented the random alignment of the nanorods at the edge of the assembly pattern. Moreover, the above-mentioned nanorods, which had different permittivities, were found to have similar assembly yields. The proposed method can be improved and applied to nanostructure device fabrication.

The influence of aging treatment on the microstructure,mechanical properties and electrical conductivity of Cu-0.5 wt pct Be alloy for connector material applications was *** properties of mechanical strength and electrical conductivity increase with increasing aging temperature and *** of the aged Cu-Be alloy revealed that grain size and fraction of low angle and high angle grain boundary were not greatly changed;however,transmission electron microscopy （TEM） analysis exhibited that beryllides precipitation （CoBe and NiBe） with a size of 50 nm were distributed in *** was,therefore concluded that these beryllide precipitates improved the mechanical strength and also it was favor in improvement of electrical conductivity.

Ternary Ti-B-N coatings were synthesized on AISI 304 and Si wafer by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) technique using a gaseous mixture of TiCl4,BCl3,H2,N2,and *** virtue of X-ray diffraction analysis,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscope,and high-resolution transmission electron microscope,the influences of B content on the microstructure and properties of Ti B N coatings were investigated *** results indicated that the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-B-N coatings largely depend on the transformation from FCC-TiN phase to HCP-TiB2 *** increasing B content and decreasing N content in the coatings,the coating microstructure evolves gradually from FCC-TiN/a-BN to HCP-TiB2 /a-BN via FCC-TiN+HCP-TiB2/*** highest microhardness of about 34 GPa is achieved,which corresponds to the nanocomposite Ti-63%B-N (mole fraction) coating consisting of the HCP-TiB2 nano-crystallites and amorphous BN *** lowest friction-coefficient was observed for the nanocomposite Ti-41%B-N (mole fraction) coating consisting of the FCC-TiN nanocrystallites and amorphous BN

In this study, we investigated the dynamic functions of the tip region of the butterfly proboscis through which liquid is sucked during liquid feeding. The microstructures and flow patterns in the tip region of the proboscis were in vivo analyzed. The tip region can be divided into two functional sections： namely adhesion and suction sections. The liquid adheres to the adhesion section during liquid suction. Although the tip region has numerous slits connected to food canal of the proboscis, liquid is mainly sucked through the suction section, which section is submerged in the fluid pulled by the adhesion section and then successfully imbibes liquid. To check the dynamic functions of the tip region, we fabricated a suction tip model having adhesion and suction parts. The in vitro model experiments show that the hydrophilicity of the adhesion part and the existence of the suction inlet improve the liquid uptake driven by a suction pump. This study may provide insights for the biomimetic design of nectar-feeding butterflies.

Ni—SiC—h/BN composite materials were prepared by electrodeposition technique with the dispersion of SiC（10 g/L） and h/BN nanosheets（10 g/L） in a nickel sulfamate electrolytic *** ratio of sodium dodecyl sulfate（SDS） and cetyltrymethyl ammonium bromide（CTAB） surfactants were used to evaluate the effect of surfactants on the properties of the electrodeposited composite *** coating samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction,Vickers microhardness test,scratch and tribology *** results revealed that the co-deposition of nanoparticles was significantly influenced by surfactants during electrodeposition *** or polyhedral nickel crystallites were observed at higher ratio of SDS/CTAB while smaller oval grains with refined surface morphologies were obtained at lower ratio of SDS/CTAB *** addition,wt%of particles co-deposition was increased,and Vickers microhardness,wear and coefficient of friction of the electrodeposited composite coatings were improved at increased CTAB and decreased SDS contents in the electrolyte during electrodeposition process.

Mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mROS)that are overproduced by mitochondrial dysfunction are linked to pathological conditions including sensory ***,we explored whether mROS overproduction induces itch through transient receptor potential canonical 3(TRPC3),which is sensitive to *** injection of antimycin A(AA),a selective inhibitor of mitochondrial electron transport chain complex III for mROS overproduction,produced robust scratching behavior in naïve mice,which was suppressed by MitoTEMPO,a mitochondria-selective ROS scavenger,and Pyr10,a TRPC3-specific blocker,but not by blockers of TRPA1 or *** activated subsets of trigeminal ganglion neurons and also induced inward currents,which were blocked by MitoTEMPO and ***,dry skin-induced chronic scratching was relieved by MitoTEMPO and Pyr10,and also by resveratrol,an *** together,our results suggest that mROS elicit itch through TRPC3,which may underlie chronic itch,representing a potential therapeutic target for chronic itch.

Minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer has rapidly gained popularity due to the early detection of early gastric cancer. As advances in instruments and the accumulation of laparoscopic experience increase, laparoscopic techniques are being used for less invasive but highly technical procedures. Recent evidence suggests that the short- and long-term outcomes of minimally invasive surgery for early gastric cancer and advanced gastric cancer are comparable to those of conventional open surgery. however, these results should be confirmed by large-scale multicenter prospective randomized controlled clinical trials.

Colorectal cancers (CRCs) with a high level of microsatellite instability (MSI-H) are clinicopathologically distinct tumors characterized by predominance in females, proximal colonic localization, poor differentiation, mucinous histology, tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, a Crohn’s-like lymphoid reaction and a favorable prognosis. In terms of their molecular features, MSI-H CRCs are heterogeneous tumors associated with various genetic and epigenetic alterations, including DNA mismatch repair deficiency, target microsatellite mutations, BRAF mutations, a CpG island methylator phenotype-high (CIMP-H) status, and a low level of genomic hypomethylation. The molecular heterogeneity of MSI-H CRCs also depends on ethnic differences; for example, in Eastern Asian countries, relatively low frequencies of CIMP-H and BRAF mutations have been observed in MSI-H CRCs compared to Western countries. Although the prognostic features of MSI-H CRCs include a favorable survival of patients and low benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy, there may be prognostic differences based on the molecular heterogeneity of MSI-H CRCs. Here, we have reviewed and discussed the molecular and prognostic features of MSI-H CRCs, as well as several putative prognostic or predictive molecular markers, including HSP110 expression, beta2-microglobulin mutations, myosin 1a expression, CDX2/CK20 expression, SMAD4 expression, CIMP status and LINE-1 methylation levels.

Minimally invasive surgery has become common in the surgical resection of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors(SMTs). The purpose of this article is to review recent trends in minimally invasive surgery for gastric SMTs. Although laparoscopic resection has been main stream of minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal SMTs, recent advances in endoscopic procedures now provide various treatment modalities for gastric SMTs. Moreover, investigators have developed several hybrid techniques that include the advantages of both laparoscopic and endoscopic procedure. In addition, several types of reduced port surgeries, modification of conventional laparoscopic procedures, have been recently applied to the surgical resection of SMTs. Meanwhile, robotic surgery for SMTs requires further evidence and improvement.
