BACKGROUND Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome(PRES)is cha.acterized mainly by occipital and parietal lobe involvement,which can be reversible within a few ***,we report a rare case of PRES that developed after craniotomy for an unruptured intracranial aneurysm(UIA).CASE SUMMARY A 59-year-old man underwent clipping surgery for the treatment of UIA arising from the left middle cerebral *** surgery was performed uneventfully,and he regained consciousness quickly immediately after the *** the 4th hour after surgery,he developed a disorder of consciousness and *** resonance imaging revealed cortical and subcortical T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the parietal,occipital,and frontal lobes ipsilaterally,without restricted diffusion,consistent with unilateral *** conservative treatment,his symptoms and radiological findings almost completely disappeared within *** our case,the important causative factor of PRES was suspected to be a sudden increase in cerebral perfusion pressure associated with temporary M1 *** Our unique case highlights that,to our knowledge,this is the second report of PRES developing after craniotomy for the treatment of *** must keep PRES in mind as one of the causes of perioperative neurological abnormality following clipping of an UIA.

Exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis(exRML), a pathophysiological condition of skeletal muscle cell damage that may cause acute renal failure and in some cases death. Increased Ca^(2+) level in cells along with functional degradation of cell signaling system and cell matrix have been suggested as the major pathological mecha.isms associated with exRML. The onset of exRML may be exhibited in athletes as well as in general population. Previous studies have reported that possible causes of exRML were associated with excessive eccentric contractions in high temperature, abnormal electrolytes balance, and nutritional deficiencies possible genetic defects. however, the underlying mecha.isms of exRML have not been clearly established among health professionals or sports medicine personnel. Therefore, we reviewed the possible mecha.isms and correlated prevention of exRML, while providing useful and practical information for the athlete and general exercising population.

BACKGROUND Retroperitoneal sarcoma(RPS) is a rare malignancy arising from mesenchymal cells that most commonly presents as an abdominal mass and is associated with poor *** several studies have assessed the survival benefits of wide excision,few have reported detailed methods for achieving wide excision in patients with *** To describe our experience with multidisciplinary surgical resection of RPS using intra-and extra-pelvic *** Multidisciplinary surgery is an anatomical approach that combines intra-and extra-peritoneal access within the same surgery to achieve complete RPS *** retrospective review of the records of patients who underwent multidisciplinary surgery for RPS analyzed surgical and survival *** Eight patients underwent 10 intra-and extra-pelvic surgical resections,and their median mass size was 12.75 cm(range,6-45.5 cm).Using an intrapelvic approach,laparoscopy-assisted surgery was performed in four cases and laparotomy surgery in *** an extrapelvic approach,ilioinguinal and posterior approaches were used in four cases each,and the prone position and midline skin incision were shared in *** patients’ RPS masses were removed completely,and four achieved R0 resection through intra-and extra-pelvic *** median estimated blood loss was 2000 m L(range,300-20000 m L) and the median hospitalization was 12.6 d(range,9-69 d).Reoperation was needed in two patients(one for wound necrosis and the other for bowel perforation and wound necrosis).The median overall survival rate and median progression-free survival were 64.6 and 13.7 mo,*** RPS is therapeutically cha.lenging because of its location and high risk of ***,intra-and extra-pelvic surgical approaches can improve the macroscopic security of the surgical margin.

Recycling is a major consideration in continued aluminum use due to the enormous demand for high quality products. Some impurity elements gradually accumulate through the repetitive reuse of aluminum alloy scrap. Of them, the iron content should be suppressed under the allowed limit. In the present research, a novel separation method was introduced to remove primary iron-rich intermetallic compounds by centrifugation during solidification of AI-Si-Fe alloys. This method does not use the density difference between two phases as in other centrifugal methods, but uses the order of solidification in AI-Si-Fe alloys, because iron promotes the formation of intermetallic compounds with other alloying elements as a primary phase. Two AI-Si-Fe alloys which have different iron contents were chosen as the starting materials. The iron-rich phase could be efficiently removed by centrifuging under a centrifugal force of 40 g. Coarse intermetallic compounds were found in the sample inside the crucible, while rather fine intermetallic compounds were found in the sample outside the crucible. Primary intermetallic compounds were linked to each other via aluminum-rich matrix, and formed like a network. The highest iron removal fraction is 67% and the lowest one is 7% for AI-12Si-1.7Fe alloy. And they are 82% and 18% for AI-12Si-3.4Fe alloy, respectively.

This study summarized the procedure for the seasonal predictions of tropical cyclones(TCs)over the western North Pacific(WNP),which is currently operating at the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA),Republic of *** methodology was briefly described,and its prediction accuracy was *** predictions were produced by synthesizing spatiotemporal evolutions of various climate factors such as El Ni no–Southern Oscillation(ENSO),monsoon activity,and Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO),using four models:a statistical,a dynamical,and two statistical–dynamical *** KMA forecaster predicted the number of TCs over the WNP based on the results of the four models and season to season climate *** seasonal prediction of TCs is announced through the press twice a year,for the summer on May and fall on *** present results showed low accuracy during the period 2014–*** advance forecast skill,a set of recommendations are suggested.

Recombinant interleukin-33(IL-33)inhibits tumor growth,but the detailed immunological mecha.ism is still ***-33-mediated tumor suppression did not occur in Batf3^(−/−)mice,indicating that conventional type 1 dendritic cells(cDC1s)play a key role in IL-33-mediated antitumor immunity.A population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were barely detectable in the spleens of normal mice,increased significantly in the spleens of IL-33-treated *** newly emerged splenic CD103^(+)cDC1s were distinct from conventional splenic cDC1s based on their spleen residency,robust effector T-cell priming ability,and surface expression of *** and DC precursors did not express Suppressor of Tumorigenicity 2(ST2).however,recombinant IL-33 induced spleen-resident FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were found to be differentiated from DC precursors by bystander ST2+immune *** immune cell fractionation and depletion assays,we found that IL-33-primed ST2^(+)basophils play a crucial role in the development of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s by secreting IL-33-driven extrinsic *** GM-CSF also induced the population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,but the population neither expressed FCGR3 nor induced any discernable antitumor *** population of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s was also generated in vitro culture of Flt3L-mediated bone marrow-derived DCs(FL-BMDCs)when IL-33 was added in a pre-DC stage of ***-BMDCs generated in the presence of IL-33(FL-33-DCs)offered more potent tumor immunotherapy than control Flt3L-BMDCs(FL-DCs).Human monocyte-derived DCs were also more immunogenic when exposed to IL-33-induced *** findings suggest that recombinant IL-33 or an IL-33-mediated DC vaccine could be an attractive protocol for better tumor immunotherapy.

Efficacy and safety of a patient-positioning device(EZ-FIX)for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography

AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of a patientpositioning device(EZ-FIX) for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP).METhoDS: A total of 105 patients were randomized to the EZ-FIX(n = 53) or non-EZ-FIX(n = 52) group in this prospective study. Midazolam and propofol,titrated to provide an adequate level of sedation during therapeutic ERCP, were administered by trained registered nurses under endoscopist *** outcome measures were the total dose of propofol and sedative-related complications, including hypoxia and hypotension. Secondary outcome measures were recovery time and sedation satisfaction of the endoscopist, nurses, and ***: There was no significant difference in the rate of hypoxia, but there was a statistical trend(EX-FIX group; n = 4, 7.55%, control group; n = 6, 11.53%,P = 0.06). The mean total dose of propofol was lower in the EZ-FIX group than in the non-EZ-FIX group(89.43 ± 49.8 mg vs 112.4 ± 53.8 mg, P = 0.025).In addition, the EZ-FIX group had a shorter mean recovery time(11.23 ± 4.61 mg vs 14.96 ± 5.12 mg, P< 0.001). Sedation satisfaction of the endoscopist and nurses was higher in the *** group than in the nonEZ-FIX group. Technical success rates of the procedure were 96.23% and 96.15%, respectively(P = 0.856).Procedure-related complications did not differ by group(11.32% vs 13.46%, respectively, P = 0.735).CONCLUSION: Using EZ-FIX reduced the total dose of propofol and the recovery time, and increased the satisfaction of the endoscopist and nurses.

用RT-PCR方法从金鱼体内成功分离得到编码H 1组蛋白的基因,基因登录号AY 184811。该基因与来源于大西洋鲑鱼的抗菌蛋白-H 1组蛋白有极高的同源性(78%)。将全长基因及其N端(2-38氨基酸)序列成功克隆于毕赤酵母分泌表达载体pP IC 9K并表达;表达产物初步检测有抗菌活性。结果表明,金鱼H 1组蛋白为一种新发现的抗菌蛋白,其N端来源肽(AEVAPAA SAPPAKAPKKK SAAKA KKAGPAVGDL IVKA)为抗微生物肽。金鱼H 1组蛋白及其来源肽在金鱼先天免疫防御中发挥作用。
