＜正＞A continuous electroless-plated Cu film of only 10 nm in thickness was successfully deposited on a TaN barrier over a 1 nm-thick Pd catalytic layer formed by ionized cluster beam *** electrical resistivity of the Cu interconnecfion was found to decrease as the Pd layer thickness was reduced,to as low as 2.11 μΩ·cm at a Pd thickness of 1 ***,the deposited film has adhesion strength as high as that of sputtered Cu on TaN,even for the case of the 1 nm-thick Pd catalyst layer. A uniform and continuous 10 nm-thick Cu seed layer was formed by electroless plating over a 1 nm-thick Pd layer,and subsequent Cu electroplating filled all high aspect ratio via-holes without the appearance of voids.

The tidal triggering of earthquakes has been studied for many *** discovery of slow earthquakes in the early 2000s,including slow slip,has urged scientists to investigate the tidal responses of these earthquakes due to their sensitivity to weak stress *** studies have shown that slow earthquakes correlate with diurnal and semidiurnal tides and seasonal variations in surface loads more clearly than ordinary ***,little is known about long-term responses to external *** this paper,based on a widely accepted frictional law for faults,a mechanism is proposed by which nontidal variations in ocean bottom pressure,when combined with tides,pro mote the occurrence of slow *** slow earthquakes accompany a slip on the plate interface,this mechanism allows one to estimate slip modulations.A one-degree-of-freedom slip model is constructed and applied to Ise Bay in the Tonankai region of southwestern Japan,where large-scale ocean mass redistributions have *** model calculated with parameters determined from the observation of tectonic tremors is quantitatively consistent with the slip during 1997-2013 inferred from GNSS data,suggesting that the decrease in the sea-level change in approximately 2006 could cause the accele ration of a slip observed after *** result implies that the decreases in sea level in approximately 1996 and 2014 could also cause subsequent slip *** three slip acceleration periods temporally coincide with the increases in background seismicity in a shallower portion of the plate *** changes in seismicity are common to shallow earthquakes in the Tokai area,and a similar model can reproduce *** studies are expected to reveal causality between shallow earthquakes and long-term slip fluctuations based on modeling that considers changes in the frictional property along the plate interface.

Aslanger’s sign,also known as the arterial pulse tapping artifact or electromechanical association artifact,is an electrocardiographic artifact caused by arterial pulsation at the site where the limb leads of the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram near the radial or posterior tibial arteries are positioned,particularly in hyperdynamic states.[1–8]It occurs in every cardiac cycle with a constant coupling interval between the QRS complex and *** synchronization with the underlying heart rhythm makes it less likely to be recognized as an artifact compared to unsynchronized artifacts,such as those caused by limb movement and inadequate contact between the electrode and skin.[1,2,7,8]Almost all reported cases of Aslanger’s sign exhibit an unusual waveform morphology in all 12 leads except one of the standard 12-lead *** sign is often confused with an electrocardiographic finding commonly observed during acute coronary events.

Cardiac amyloidosis is an infiltrative and restrictive cardiomyopathy caused by the extracellular deposition of amyloid fib-rils within the heart as systemic amyloidosis,lead-ing to heart failure,reduced quality of life,and death.[1]There are two major amyloid fibril proteins that af-fect the heart:amyloid immunoglobulin light chain(AL)and amyloid transthyretin(ATTR).The latter is further subdivided into wild-type ATTR and variant types based on the presence of a mutation in the transthyretin gene.

Economic Analyses of Regional Impacts with Adaptation to Climate Change for the Paris Agreement

This study measures regional impacts of adaptation to climate change for the Paris Agreement under the Shared Socio-Economic Pathways and Representative Concentration Pathways scenarios. We develop a global economic model with adaptation to climate change. Simulated results indicate that: 1) Asian and African adaptation costs exceed more than one percent of GDP in the year 2100 under the business as usual scenario;2) adaptation costs under the 2.0°C target are higher in Asia and Africa than other regions;and 3) adaptation costs amount to one percent of GDP in Japan, EU and Latin America under the 1.5°C target scenario by adaptation.

AIM To elucidate the role of STAT3 in hepatocarcinogenesis and biliary ductular proliferation following chronic liver injury. METHODS We investigated thioacetamide(TAA)-induced liver injury, compensatory hepatocyte proliferation, and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) development in hepatic STAT3-deficient mice. In addition, we evaluated TAAinduced biliary ductular proliferation and analyzed the activation of sex determining region Y-box9(SOX9) and Yes-associated protein(YAP), which regulate the transdifferentiation of hepatocytes to *** Both compensatory hepatocyte proliferation and HCC formation were significantly decreased in hepatic STAT3-deficient mice as compared with control mice. STAT3 deficiency resulted in augmentation of hepatic necrosis and fibrosis. On the other hand, biliary ductular proliferation increased in hepatic STAT3-deficient livers as compared with control livers. SOX9 and YAP were upregulated in hepatic STAT3-deficient *** STAT3 may regulate hepatocyte proliferation as well as transdifferentiation into cholangiocytes and serve as a therapeutic target for HCC inhibition and biliary regeneration.
