Clinicopathological study of primary biliary cirrhosis with interface hepatitis compared to autoimmune hepatitis

The purpose of this article is to ascertain the major trends of corporate governance in Asia in an interdisciplinary approach based on both the legal and the management ***,major legal theories encouraging the‘Transplantation’ of Western models to Asia are reviewed,which reveals a theoretical distortion between the normative goals and the technical designs of corporate governance(section-2).Next,several actual cases of‘Transplantation’ in Asia are reviewed,which describes limited outcomes especially when poor‘model laws’ are transplanted in a simple‘receptive’ way(in section-3).Then,apart from the‘Transplantation’ on the formal written law level,a deeper level of living laws or actual practices amid regional economic integration is observed based on an interim report of a corporate survey which the author and her colleagues have recently been conducting on the Japanese SME investment in Asia(section-4).A general implication drawn from the article is that the‘Transplantation’ or‘Convergence’ of the formal law means nothing without any local initiatives to‘customize’ them as living laws within the actual commercial *** accumulation of empirical studies on such dynamic processes of the local customization of transplanted models will contribute to the exploration of the best practices in Asia.

AIM:To investigate histological and immunohistochemical differences in hepatitis between autoimmune hepatitis(AIH)and primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC)with AIH ***:Liver needle biopsies of 41 PBC with AIH features and 43 AIH patients were *** activity of periportal and lobular inflammation was scored0(none or minimal activity)to 4(severe),and the degree of hepatitic rosette formation and emperipolesis was semiquantatively scored *** infiltration of mononuclear cells positive for CD20,CD38,CD3,CD4,and CD8 and positive for immunoglobulins(IgG,IgM,and IgA)at the periportal areas(interface hepatitis)and in the hepatic lobules(lobular hepatitis)were semiquantitatively scored in immunostained liver sections(score 0-6).Serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST),immunoglobulins,and autoantibodies at the time of liver biopsy were correlated with the histological and immunohistochemical scores of individual ***:Lobular hepatitis,hepatitic rosette formation,and emperipolesis were more extensive and frequent in AIH than in ***3+,CD4+,and CD8+cell infiltration scores were higher in the hepatic lobules and at the interface in AIH but were also found in *** degree of mononuclear cell infiltration correlated well with the degree of interface and lobular hepatitis in PBC,but to a lesser degree in ***20+cells were mainly found in the portal tracts and,occasionally,at the interface in both *** AST correlated well with the hepatocyte necroinflammation and mononuclear cell infiltration,specifically CD38+cells in *** correlation existed between autoantibodies and inflammatory cell infiltration in PBC or *** most AIH cases were IgG-predominant at the interface,PBC cases were divided into IgM-predominant,IgM/IgGequal,and IgG-predominant types,with the latter sharing several features with ***:These results suggest that the hepatocellular injuries associated with interface and lobular hepatitis in AIH and PBC with inte

Hikikomori is a recent phenomenon among young adults in which they isolate themselves from social contacts and responsibility for more than 6 months. This problem has assumed epidemic proportions in Japan and has been widely discussed across disciplines. Previous studies have associated hikikomori with a maladaptation to structural change, an emergent mental problem that needs new diagnosis, or an under-diagnosed schizophrenic disorder. Most previous work has adopted a clinical perspective, and there have been no qualitative studies exploring the individual feelings of people suffering from the syndrome. We adopted a qualitative method using a grounded theory approach. Data collection and analysis took place between September 2006 and August 2008. Theoretical sampling included eight informants from snowball sampling and an online observation consisting of 160 online participants. Analysis focused on informants’ first- and second-person experiences of hikikomori. Data analysis revealed one overriding theme: coping difficulties consisting of the two categories stasis and expression. As a result of conflicting demands and reduced autonomy, respondents experienced stasis, which prevented them from moving forward;“hiding” or “avoiding” heightened the expression of their behaviors. This is the first study to explore the in-depth experience of individuals suffering from hikikomori syndrome in a non-clinical setting. We argue that hikikomoriis not a result of asocial behavior, but rather an anomic response to a situation that informants felt powerless to change and from which they could see no way out. We also observed that feelings of hopelessness and relationship fatigue might be overcome by introducing a relaxed social environment that people can control during rehabilitation.

AIM To unravel relationships between gastrointestinal(GI)symptoms impairing quality of life(QOL)and clinical profiles of diabetes mellitus(DM)patients. METHODS We enrolled 134 outpatients with type 2 *** age was 64.7 years,mean body mass index was 24.7 RESULTS Lower abdominal symptoms were found to be more frequent than those affecting the upper *** duration and medications showed associations with GI *** identified differences in peak prevalences of the five ***(P=0.02vs 10-14 years)and total GI symptoms(P=0.01 and P=0.02 vs 5-9 years and 10-14 years,respectively)peaked at a diabetes duration of 15-19 ***(P=0.004)and postprandial fullness(P=0.03)tended to increase with disease *** and diarrhea showed bimodal peaks,with the first early and the second late(e.g.,P=0.03 at 15-19 years vs 10-14years for diarrhea)in the disease ***,GI symptoms showed clustering that reflected the region of the GI tract affected,i.e.,constipation and diarrhea had similar frequencies(P<0.0001). CONCLUSION Our study highlights the importance of questioning patients about QOL impairment due to abdominal symptoms,especially in the early and the late periods of diabetes.

Transplantation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs) stands as a potent stroke therapy, but its exact mechanism remains unknown. This study investigated the anti-apoptotic mechanisms by which hMSCs exert neuroprotective effects on cerebral ischemia. Primary mixed cultures of rat neurons and astrocytes were cultured and exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation. A two-hour period of "reperfusion" in standard medium and normoxic conditions was allowed and immediately followed by hMSCs and/or Bcl-2 antibody treatment. Cell viability of primary rat neurons and astrocytes was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthianol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide and trypan blue exclusion methods. hMSC survival and differentiation were characterized by immunocytochemistry, while the concentration of Bcl-2 in the supernatant was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to reveal the secretory anti-apoptotic function of hMSCs. Cultured hMSCs expressed embryonic-like stem cell phenotypic markers CXCR4, Oct4, SSEA4, and Nanog, as well as immature neural phenotypic marker Nestin. Primary rat neurons and astrocytes were protected from oxygen-glucose deprivation by hMSCs, which was antagonized by the Bcl-2 antibody. However, Bcl-2 levels in the supernatants did not differ between hMSCand non-treated cells exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation. Neuroprotective effects of hMSCs against cerebral ischemia were partially mediated by the anti-apoptotic mechanisms. However, further studies are warranted to fully elucidate this pathway.

Wastewater Pollution Abatement in China: A Comparative Study of Fifteen Industrial Sectors from 1998 to 2010

This study analyzes the management of wastewater pollutants in a number of Chinese industrial sectors from 1998 to 2010. We use decomposition analysis to calculate changes in wastewater pollutant emissions that result from cleaner production processes, end-of-pipe treatment, structural changes in industry, and changes in the scale of production. We focus on one indicator of water quality and three pollutants: chemical oxygen demand (COD), petroleum, cyanide, and volatile phenols. We find that until 2002, COD emissions were mainly reduced through end-of-pipe treatments. Cleaner production processes didn’t begin contributing to COD emissions reductions until the introduction of a 2003 law that enforced their implementation. Petroleum emissions were primarily lowered through cleaner production mechanisms, which have the added benefit of reducing the input cost of intermediate petroleum. Diverse and effective pollution abatement strategies for cyanide and volatile phenols are emerging among industries in China. It will be important for the government to consider differences between industries should they choose to regulate the emissions of specific chemical substances.

This paper describes an efficient complementary voting based estimation algorithm of optical flow with reliability measure,called *** estimate the optical flow of an interest region,we divide the region into subreferences,then compute the similarity profile for each subreference using a certain matching *** similarity profiles are employed to extract two kinds of voting roles-positive voting and negative ***,the two kinds of voting roles are carried out to obtain an optimal voting result which is used to estimate an optical flow and a reliability value under a control *** reduce the computational complexity of the CMV,we propose a PV-based negative voting *** results show that the CMV is effective for estimating optical flow in poor-quality image sequence,and that the new negative voting strategy greatly reduces the computation complexity without degradation of the performance.

The purpose of this study was to propose indicators for grasping autistic characteristics of people with intellectual disabilities who were going to engage in agricultural vocational training. We analyzed the data of the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) of 44 students at the high school course of a special needs education school who participated in agricultural vocational training. The data were divided into two groups according to the scores of “General Impressions”, one of 15 question items of the CARS: one was the group whose score was 1 (usual), and the other was the group whose scores were 1.5 to 4 (unusual). The results of the Mann-Whitney U test showed significant differences between two groups in eight items including “Relating to People” (p Relating to People” with six other items. As a result, “Relating to People” was considered to be the most effective item to know the participant’s autistic characteristics at a very early stage of training. Eventually, adding two items, “Body Use” and “Imitation” which are necessary to master agricultural tasks, to “Relating to People”, we proposed three indicators.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate reasonable cost benefit criteria within the framework of environmental formal safety assessment （FSA）. In this study a statistical analysis of oil spill data was carried out based on the report of International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds. According to the statistical study of actual oil spill from tankers, it is found that collisions and groundings are the most probable causes of the oil spills from tankers. Probability distributions of costs of oil spill and oil spill amount are investigated, and a non-linear regression formula between costs of oil spills and oil spill weight are derived. Using the regression formula, an oil spill weight dependent CATStm （Cost of Averting a Ton of oil Spilt） is proposed. Moreover in order to apply the weight dependent CATSthr to cost benefit analysis （CBA）, a new cost-effective criterion is newly proposed with considering its concrete application to environmental FSA.
