A three-dimensional model of GaAs/A1GaAs quantum double rings in the lateral static electric field is investigated theoretically. The eigenvalue problem with the effective-mass approximation is solved by means of the finite-element method. The energy levels and wave functions of quantum-confined electrons and heavy holes are obtained and show an agreement with our previous theoretical and experimental studies. It is shown in the approximation of neglecting the Coulomb attraction between the electron and heavy hole that a relatively large Stark shift of exciton emission of 4 meV is attainable with an applied electric field of 0.7 kV/cm.

The constant increase in power and heat flux densities encountered in electronic devices fuels a rising demand for lightweight heat sink materials with suitable thermal *** this study,discontinuous pitch-based carbon fiber reinforced aluminum matrix（Al-CF） composites with aluminum–silicon alloy（Al–Si） were fabricated through hot *** small amount of Al–Si contributed to enhance the sintering process in order to achieve fully dense Al–CF composites.A thermal conductivity and CTE of 258 W/（m K） and 7.0 9 10-6/K in the in-plane direction of the carbon fibers were obtained for a（Al95 vol%＋ Al–Si5 vol%）-CF50 vol%*** fiber provides the reducing of CTE while the conservation of thermal conductivity and weight of *** achieved CTEs satisfy the standard requirements for a heat sink material,which furthermore possess a specific thermal conductivity of 109 W cm3/（m K g）.This simple process allows the low-cost fabrication of Al–CF composite,which is applicable for a lightweight heat sink material.

The effect of transition elements on grain refinement of 7475 aluminum alloy sheets produced by warm rolling was investigated. The alloy which contains zirconium instead of chromium showed ultra fine structures with stable subgrains after warm rolling at 350 ℃, followed by solution heat treatment at 480 ℃. The average subgrain diameter was approximately 3 pan. It became clear that zirconium in solution has the effect of stabilizing subgrains due to precipitation of fine Al3Zr compounds during warm rolling. On the other hand, chromium-bearing compounds precipitate before warm rolling and they grow up to relatively large size during warm rolling. The warm rolled sheets with fine subgrains have unique properties compared with conventional 7475 aluminum alloy sheets produced by cold rolling. The warm roiled sheets solution heat treated had subgrain structures through the thickness with a high proportion of low-angle boundary less than 15°. The strength of the warm rolled sheets in T6 condition was about 10% higher than that of conventional 7475 aluminum alloy sheets. As the most remarkable point in the warm rolled sheets, the high Lankford （r） value of 3.5 was measured in the orientation of 45° to rolling direction, with the average r-value of 2.2. The high r-value would be derived from well developed r-fiber textures, especially with the strong {011 }（211） brass component. The warm rolled sheets also had high resistance to SCC. From Kikuchi lines analysis and TEM images, it was found that PFZs were hardly formed along the low- angle boundaries of the warm rolled sheets in T6 condition. This would be a factor to lead to the improvement of resistance to SCC because of reducing the difference in electrochemical property between the grain boundary area and the grain interior.

The tyrosine kinase receptor vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 （VEG FR2） is a key regulator of angiogenesis. Here we show that VEGFR2 is acetylated in endothelial cells both at four lysine residues forming a dense cluster in the kinase insert domain and at a single lysine located in the receptor activation loop. These modifications are under dynamic control of the acetyltransferase p300 and two deacetyiases HDAC5 and HDAC6. We demonstrate that VEGFR2 acetylation essentially regulates receptor phosphorylation. In par- ticular, VEGFR2 acetylation significantly alters the kinetics of receptor phosphorylation after ligand binding, allowing receptor phos- phoryiation and intraceUular signaling upon proLonged stimulation with VEGF. Molecular dynamics simulations indicate that acetylation of the lysine in the activation loop contributes to the transition to an open active state, in which tyrosine phosphorylation is favored by better exposure of the kinase target residues. These findings indicate that post-translational modification by acetyiation is a critical mechanism that directLy affects VEGFR2 function.

CBF/CBV maps in normal volunteers studied with ^(15)O PET:a possible index of cerebral perfusion pressure

Local cerebral perfusion pressure （CPP） is a primary factor controlling cerebral circulation and previous studies have indicated that the ratio of cerebral blood flow （CBF） to cerebral blood volume （CBV） can be used as an index of the local CPP. In this study, we investigated whether the CBF/CBV ratio differs among different brain structures under physiological conditions, by means of （15）O positron emission tomography. Nine healthy volunteers （5 men and 4 women; mean age, 47.0 ± 1.2 years） were studied by H2（15）O bolus injection for CBF measurement and by C（15）O inhalation for CBV measurement. The CBF/CBV ratio maps were created by dividing the CBF images by the CBV images after anatomical normalization. Regions of interest were placed on the CBF/CBV maps and comparing the regions. The mean CBF/ CBV ratio was highest in the cerebellum （19.3 ＋ 5.2/ min）, followed by the putamen （18.2 ± 3.9）, pons （16.4 ±4.6）, thalamus （14.5：1： 3.3）, cerebral cortices （13.2 ±2.4）, and centrum semiovale （1115 ± 2.1）. The cerebellum and putamen showed significantly higher CBF/CBV ratios than the cerebral cortices and centrum semiovale. We created maps of the CBF/ CBV ratio in normal volunteers and demonstrated higher CBF/CBV ratios in the cerebellum and putamen than in the cerebral cortices and deep cerebral white matter. The CBF/CBV may reflect the local CPP and should be studied in hemodynamicallycompromised patients and in patients with risk factors for small-artery diseases of the brain. AIM To investigate β-catenin(CTNNB1) signaling in cancer and stem cells, the gene expression and pathway were analyzed using *** The expression of the catenin β 1(CTNNB1) gene, which codes for β-catenin, was analyzed in mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) and gastric cancer(GC) cells. Beta-catenin signaling and the mutation of related proteins were also analyzed using the cB ioP ortal for Cancer Genomics and HOMology modeling of Complex Structure(HOMCOS) *** The expression of the CTNNB1 gene was up-regulated in GC cells compared to MSCs. The expression of EPH receptor A8(EPHA8), synovial sarcoma translocation chromosome 18(SS18), interactor of little elongation complex ELL subunit 1(ICE1), patched 1(PTCH1), mutS homolog 3(MSH3) and caspase recruitment domain family member 11(CARD11) were also shown to be altered in GC cells in the cB ioP ortal for Cancer Genomics analysis. 3D complex structures were reported for E-cadherin 1(CDH1), lymphoid enhancer binding factor 1(LEF1), transcription factor 7 like 2(TCF7L2) and adenomatous polyposis coli protein(APC) with β-catenin. CONCLUSION The results indicate that the epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)-related gene CTNNB1 plays an important role in the regulation of stem cell pluripotency and cancer signaling.
