Multi-material Bio-inspired Soft Octopus Robot for Underwater Synchronous Swimming

Inspired by the simple yet amazing morphology of the Octopus, we propose the design, fabrication, and characterization of multi-material bio-inspired soft Octopus robot (Octobot). 3D printed molds for tentacles and head were used. The tentacles of the Octobot were casted using Ecoflex-0030 while head was fabricated using relatively flexible material, i.e., OOMOO-25. The head is attached to the functionally responsive tentacles (each tentacle is of 79.12 mm length and 7 void space diameter), whereas Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) muscle wires of 0.5 mm thickness are used in Octobot tentacles for dual thrust generation and actuation of Octobot. The tentacles were separated in two groups and were synchronously actuated. Each tentacle of the developed Octobot contains a pair of SMA muscles (SMA-α and SMA-β). SMA-α muscles being the main actuator, was powered by 9 V, 350 mA power supply, whereas SMA-β was used to provide back thrust and thus helps to increase the actuation frequency. Simulation work of the proposed model was performed in the SolidWorks environment to verify the vertical velocity using the octopus tentacle actuation. The design morphology of Octobot was optimized using simulation and TRACKER software by analyzing the experimental data of angle, displacement, and velocity of real octopus. The as-developed Octobot can swim at variable frequencies (0.5–2 Hz) with the average speed of 25 mm/s (0.5 BLS). Therefore, the proposed soft Octopus robot showed an excellent capability of mimicking the gait pattern of its natural counterpart.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally.This disease causes loss of heart muscles and is also responsible for the death of heart cells,sometimes damaging their functionality.A person’s life may depend on receiving timely assistance as soon as possible.Thus,minimizing the death ratio can be achieved by early detection of heart attack(HA)symptoms.In the United States alone,an estimated 610,000 people die fromheart attacks each year,accounting for one in every four fatalities.However,by identifying and reporting heart attack symptoms early on,it is possible to reduce damage and save many lives significantly.Our objective is to devise an algorithm aimed at helping individuals,particularly elderly individuals living independently,to safeguard their lives.To address these challenges,we employ deep learning techniques.We have utilized a vision transformer(ViT)to address this problem.However,it has a significant overhead cost due to its memory consumption and computational complexity because of scaling dot-product attention.Also,since transformer performance typically relies on large-scale or adequate data,adapting ViT for smaller datasets is more challenging.In response,we propose a three-in-one steam model,theMulti-Head Attention Vision Hybrid(MHAVH).Thismodel integrates a real-time posture recognition framework to identify chest pain postures indicative of heart attacks using transfer learning techniques,such as ResNet-50 and VGG-16,renowned for their robust feature extraction capabilities.By incorporatingmultiple heads into the vision transformer to generate additional metrics and enhance heart-detection capabilities,we leverage a 2019 posture-based dataset comprising RGB images,a novel creation by the author that marks the first dataset tailored for posture-based heart attack detection.Given the limited online data availability,we segmented this dataset into gender categories(male and female)and conducted testing on both segmented and original datasets.The training accuracy of our model reached

Oil blending is the method of choice used worldwide to improve oxidative stability and nutritional value.There is no such edible oil/fat that meets all the recommendations from the health point of view.The fatty acid composition of vegetable oils decides the fate of the oil.Pure single oil is unable to provide a balanced amount of fatty acids(FAs)required/recommended on a daily intake basis.Blending oils/fats is an appropriate procedure of physically mixing multiple oils in suitable proportions which may provide functional lipids with improved antioxidant potential and desirable physical and chemical properties.This review piled up the accessible data on the blending of diverse oils/fats in the combination of binary,ternary,quaternary,or other types of oils into a single blended oil.Blending can be found very convincing towards appropriate FA profile,enhancement in physicochemical characteristics,and augmented stability for the period of storage or when used as cooking/frying processes which could ultimately serve as an effectual dietary intervention towards the health protectiveness.

Association of spiritual well-being with quality of life among undergraduate nursing students

Objective:The study was conducted with the aim of determining the spiritual well-being(SWB)of nursing students and its association with quality of life(QOL).Materials and Methods:A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted with a sample size of 504 nursing students collected from January 2023 to March 2023 in the nursing institutes of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Pakistan,using convenient sampling techniques.A Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure(SHALOM)questionnaire for SWB and K-27 QOL(K-27 QOL)instrument were used for data collection that contains three parts.Results:The number of female participants was in the majority(50.4%)compared to male nurses(49.6%).The overall mean score of SWB of the students was 3.79±0.48,while the mean K-27 QOL score was 3.73±0.57.There were significant differences between the groups of gender(P=0.001),while no significant difference within the groups of semester(P=0.061)and college status(0.285).In QOL,there were significant differences within the groups of semester(P=0.000)and college status(P=0.036)while no significant difference in gender category(P=0.480).SHALOM score is positively and moderately correlated with QOL score(r=0.597,P<0.05).Conclusion:Spiritual practices are one of the important factors that are associated positively with QOL,therefore to enhance the QOL,it will require spiritual practices.

Impact of Cattaneo-Christov Heat Flux in the Nanofluid Flow over an Inclined Permeable Surface with Irreversibility Analysis

This study discusses the magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid flow over an inclined permeable surface influenced by mixed convection, and Cattaeo-Christov heat flux. The heat transfer analysis is performed in the presence of a heat source/sink and thermal stratification. To gauge the energy loss during the process, an irreversibility analysis is also performed. A numerical solution to the envisaged problem is obtained using the bvp4c package of MATLAB. Graphs are drawn to assess the consequences of the arising parameters against the associated profiles. The results show that an augmentation in the magnetic field and nanomaterial volume fraction results in an enhancement in the temperature profile. A strong magnetic field can significantly reduce the fluid velocity. The behavior of the Skin friction coefficient against the different estimates of emerging parameters is discussed. .

The Experience and Impact of a Fitbit-Based Physical Activity and Sleep Hygiene Intervention for Older Adults Experiencing Cognitive Decline

Objectives: This study aimed to understand the experience and impact of a physical activity and sleep wrist-worn tracker (Fitbit)-based healthy lifestyle intervention for older patients attending a memory assessment service, who are experiencing cognitive impairment but do not receive a dementia diagnosis. Methods: A qualitative design was employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a purposeful sample of thirteen participants recruited from a memory assessment service. Thematic analysis, that was data driven and inductive, was undertaken to analyse the data. Results: Two global themes were developed. “Understanding exercise and sleep as part of my lifestyle” was made up of themes representing how participants viewed exercise and sleep as part of their lifestyles in terms of acknowledging the positive impacts and the barriers to exercise and sleep. The second global theme “Understanding my experience of the healthy lifestyle intervention” was made up of themes that identified the positive impact of the intervention regarding improving health and wellbeing, enabling validation of proactive behaviours and motivation to engage in healthy lifestyle behaviours, so promoting positive behaviour change. Conclusion: Patients experiencing age-related cognitive impairment, applied and benefited from a healthy lifestyle Fitbit-based intervention to facilitate and promote physical activity, better sleep hygiene and healthy lifestyles.

With the increasing usage of drugs to remedy different diseases,drug safety has become crucial over the past few years.Often medicine from several companies is offered for a single disease that involves the same/similar substances with slightly different formulae.Such diversification is both helpful and danger-ous as such medicine proves to be more effective or shows side effects to different patients.Despite clinical trials,side effects are reported when the medicine is used by the mass public,of which several such experiences are shared on social media platforms.A system capable of analyzing such reviews could be very helpful to assist healthcare professionals and companies for evaluating the safety of drugs after it has been marketed.Sentiment analysis of drug reviews has a large poten-tial for providing valuable insights into these cases.Therefore,this study proposes an approach to perform analysis on the drug safety reviews using lexicon-based and deep learning techniques.A dataset acquired from the‘***’contain-ing reviews of drug-related side effects and reactions,is used for experiments.A lexicon-based approach,Textblob is used to extract the positive,negative or neu-tral sentiment from the review text.Review classification is achieved using a novel hybrid deep learning model of convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory(CNN-LSTM)network.The CNN is used at thefirst level to extract the appropriate features while LSTM is used at the second level.Several well-known machine learning models including logistic regression,random for-est,decision tree,and AdaBoost are evaluated using term frequency-inverse docu-ment frequency(TF-IDF),a bag of words(BoW),feature union of(TF-IDF+BoW),and lexicon-based methods.Performance analysis with machine learning models,long short term memory and convolutional neural network models,and state-of-the-art approaches indicate that the proposed CNN-LSTM model shows superior performance with an 0.96 accuracy.We also performed a statistical sig-nificance T-test to show

The interaction of nanoparticles with a peristaltic flow is analyzed considering a Prandtl-Eyring fluid under various conditions,such as the presence of a heat source/sink and slip effects in channels with a curvature.This problem has extensive background links with various fields in medical science such as chemotherapy and more in general nanotechnology.A similarity transformation is used to turn the original balance equations into a set of ordinary differential equations,which are then integrated numerically.The investigation reveals that nanofluids have valuable thermal capabilitises.

Fake News Encoder Classifier (FNEC) for Online Published News Related to COVID-19 Vaccines

In the past few years,social media and online news platforms have played an essential role in distributing news content rapidly.Consequently.verification of the authenticity of news has become a major challenge.During the COVID-19 outbreak,misinformation and fake news were major sources of confusion and insecurity among the general public.In the first quarter of the year 2020,around 800 people died due to fake news relevant to COVID-19.The major goal of this research was to discover the best learning model for achieving high accuracy and performance.A novel case study of the Fake News Classification using ELECTRA model,which achieved 85.11%accuracy score,is thus reported in this manuscript.In addition to that,a new novel dataset called COVAX-Reality containing COVID-19 vaccine-related news has been contributed.Using the COVAX-Reality dataset,the performance of FNEC is compared to several traditional learning models i.e.,Support Vector Machine(SVM),Naive Bayes(NB),Passive Aggressive Classifier(PAC),Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),Bi-directional LSTM(Bi-LSTM)and Bi-directional Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT).For the evaluation of FNEC,standard metrics(Precision,Recall,Accuracy,and F1-Score)were utilized.

边界层假设下的Falkner-Skan流分析因其在渗流、导热垫、热交换器、油层检测和地热分析等许多工业领域和过程中的广泛应用引起了越来越多的关注。本文主要研究了氧化石墨烯-水纳米流体的Falkner-Skan磁楔流。通过对驻点附近进行分析,研究了可拉伸壁面的速度和热滑现象,以及黏性耗散和欧姆加热对热传输的影响。利用同伦算法说明了相关参数与速度和热传输机理的关系,阐述了Nusselt数和表面摩擦因数的影响。结果表明:温度随着Brinkman数的增长而升高,进一步的热跳则使温度场减小;Hartmann数的增加使热场厚度增大,动量谱厚度减小。该研究对医疗、高温设施、热交换器和机械结构有极大意义。
