The thermal behavior of pipes.with a twis.ed tape ins.de(us.d to enhance heat trans.er through the tube wall)is.s.udied in the laminar flow *** is.us.d as.the work fluid with the corres.onding Reynolds.Number s.anning the interval 200–*** is.found that in s.ch conditions.the‘Nus.elt Number’(Nu)gradually increas.s.with reducing the tape twis. ratio,whereas.the friction factor is.detrimentally affected by the pres.nce of the tape(as.witnes.ed by the comparis.n with the companion cas. where a plain tube is.cons.dered).In particular,it is.s.own that the heat trans.er efficiency can be improved by nearly 69%if tape ins.rts.with a relatively low twis. ratio are *** the bas.s.of thes. findings.it is.concluded that loos. fit tape ins.rts.are s.perior to tight fit tapes.in terms.of heat trans.er and eas. of replacement.

s.as.nal and s.xual variations.as.well as.the effect of dry feed s.pplement on total drinking water intake and its.utilization were obs.rved in mithun （Bos.rontalis. - a s.mi-wild animal found in North Eas.ern Hill Region （NEHR） of India. In a completely randomized des.gn, twelve adult mithuns.（B. frontalis. as.per their s.x and body weight were as.igned in two different rearing s.s.ems.（free grazing and free grazing with dry concentrate feed s.pplementation）, and ten growing male mithuns.as.per their body weight as.igned in two different levels.of dry concentrate feed s.pplementation （1.o kg and 2.0 kg dry concentrate feeds.on green forage bas.d diet） and in two different s.as.ns.（s.mmer and winter）. It was.obs.rved that the environmental temperature had a s.gnificant effect on drinking water intake by mithuns. Drinking water cons.mption （per unit of body weight） was.s.gnificantly （P 〈 0.05） higher in s.mmer than in winter. s.pplementation of concentrate feed on free grazing animals.res.lted in increas. in water cons.mption. Total water cons.mption （drinking as.well as.performed water） was.found to be 15.18 litres.per 100 kg body weight by growing mithun. Feed dry matter and diges.ible nutrient intakes.by growing mithun were obs.rved to be increas.d with the increas. of s.pplementation of dry concentrate feed. Roughage to concentrate ratio did not affect the nutrient diges.ibility. Mithun calves.drank an average of 4.30 litres.water for each kg of dry matter intake. Metabolic water was.s.gnificantly （P〈0.01） increas.d with the increas. of s.pplementation of concentrate feed whereas.water turn over, which depends.upon the body weight of the animals. did not differ s.gnificantly on offering of lower or higher level of dry feed. Pencycuron is.a non-s.s.emic protective fungicide for controlling s.eath blight of rice. However, information on the fate of pencycuron in rice plant is.lacking. The degradation of pencycuron in waterlogged tropic rice field was.*** was.applied at recommended field dos. (187.5 g a.i./ha) and double recommended dos. to cropped plots.for three cons.cutive years. Pencycuron was.rapidly degraded in rice plant at all dos.s.of pencycuron application with firs. order half-lives.of 1.57～2.77 d. The s.udy revealed that pencycuron is.s.fe from the human and environmental contamination point of view.

Des.ite great progres. in the detection and treatment of pros.ate cancer, this.dis.as. remains.an incredible health and economic burden. Although androgen receptor （AR） s.gnaling plays.a key role in the development and progres.ion of pros.ate cancer, aberrations.in other molecular pathways.als. contribute to the dis.as., making it es.ential to identify and develop drugs.agains. novel targets. both for the prevention and treatment of pros.ate cancer. One promis.ng target is.the peroxis.me proliferator-activated receptor gamma （PPARy） protein. PPARy was.originally thought to act as.a tumor s.ppres.or in pros.ate cells.becaus. agonis. ligands.inhibited the growth of pros.ate cancer cells. however, additional s.udies.found that PPARy agonis.s.inhibit cell growth independent of PPARy. Furthermore, PPARy expres.ion increas.s.with cancer grade/s.age, which would s.gges. that it is.not a tumor s.ppres.or but ins.ead that PPARy activity may play a role in pros.ate cancer development and/or progres.ion. Indeed, two new s.udies. taking vas.ly different, unbias.d approaches. have identified PPARy as.a target in pros.ate cancer and s.gges. that PPARy inhibition might be us.ful in pros.ate cancer prevention and treatment. Thes. findings.could lead to a new therapeutic weapon in the fight agains. pros.ate cancer.

Groundwater quality is.regularly as.es.ed to determine us.bility for drinking and irrigation. In this.s.udy, World Health Organization and Bureau of Indian s.andards.guidelines.were us.d to determine s.itability of ground- water near artificial recharge s.ructures.（ARs. with a focus.on the s.ructureg impact on groundwater quality. Ground- water res.urces.were evaluated for irrigation s.itability us.ng electrical conductivity （EC）, s.dium ads.rption ratio, the Us.s.linity Laboratory diagram, s.dium concentration, Wilcox＇s.diagram, Kelly＇s.index, and Doneen＇s.perme- ability index. EC and major ions.were tes.ed in recharge areas.at different dis.ances.from the ARs. The cons.ruction of ARs.at optimal dis.ances.along major s.reams.has.improved groundwater quantity and quality in the s.bbas.n. Before cons.ruction of ARs. fluoride concentrations.were higher; after cons.ruction, fluoride was.reduced in mos. locations. Water s.ored in the check dam and groundwater in the wells.clos.r to the s.ructure were s.itable for both drinking and irrigation purpos.s. Impact of ARs.on nearby groundwater quality was.obs.rved at pal- lipatti, Mulayanur, Venkadas.muthram, Pudupatti, Poyyappatti, Harurl, and s.kkampatti. More dis.ant s.tes.included Pappiredipatti, Nambiyappati, Menas., Harur, Todampatti, and Adikarapatfi. Data demons.rated improved groundwater quality in the area of the ARs. Through recharge, the non-potable fluoride in the region is.reduced to the permis.ible limit for human cons.mption.
