Design constraints verification is the most computationally expensive task in evolutionary structural optimization due to a large number of structural analyses thatmust be *** a surrogatemodel to approximate the behavior of structures instead of the exact structural analyses is a possible solution to tackle this ***,most existing surrogate models have been designed based on regression *** paper proposes a novel method,called CaDE,which adopts a machine learning classification technique for enhancing the performance of the Differential Evolution(DE)*** proposed method is separated into two *** the first optimization stage,the original DE is implemented as usual,but all individuals produced in this phase are stored as inputs of the training *** on design constraints verification,these individuals are labeled as“safe”or“unsafe”and their labels are saved as outputs of the training *** collecting enough data,an AdaBoost model is trained to evaluate the safety state of *** model is then used in the second stage to preliminarily assess new individuals,and unpromising ones are rejected without checking design *** method reduces unnecessary structural analyses,thereby shortens the optimization *** benchmark truss sizing optimization problems are solved using the proposed method to demonstrate its *** obtained results show that the CaDE finds good optimal designs with less structural analyses in comparison with the original DE and four other DE *** reduction rate of five examples ranges from 18 to over 50%.Moreover,the proposed method is applied to a real-size transmission tower design problem to exhibit its applicability in practice.

Aircraft emissions contribute to global climate change and regional air pollution near *** the formation and the transformation of emissions in the aircraft engine is essential to properly quantify the environmental impact and air ***,precise investigation of chemical process in the turbine is challenging because of the complexity of the transformation process in the complex flow relating to the moving blade at high temperature and high *** present here,the first published model study of 3D chemical formations inside a high-pressure turbine and first time to compare three numerical solutions(1D,2D and 3D calculations)of transformation of trace species inside an aircraft *** model has simulated the evolution of principal precursor pollutant gases(NOx and SOx)and other species(hydrogen,oxygen species and carbon oxides).Our results also indicated strong dissimilarities in chemical transformations of 3D *** comparing the three solutions,the results obtained showed that the difference of mole fractions of species can be under predicted by 75%between 1D and 2D calculations and in the comparison of 2D and 3D calculation,the under predicted difference may be 90%.

Although fibers are used only infrequently as an additive in concrete in the construction industry,fiberenhanced concrete is known to provide a wide range of advantages over conventional *** main objective of this study was to investigate the influences of fiber type and content on the mechanical properties and durability of highperformance fiber-reinforced concrete(HPFRC)designed using a novel densified mixture design algorithm with fly ash and rice husk *** types of fiber,including polypropylene(PP)fiber,steel fiber(SF),and hybrid fiber(HF),were *** on the results,the inclusion of fibers decreased HPFRC flowability,regardless of fiber *** the compressive strength of HPFRC with 1.6%PP fiber content was 11.2%below that of the reference HPFRC specimen at 91 d of curing age,the 91-d compressive strengths of both SF and HF-enhanced HPFRC specimens were significantly better than that of the reference HPFRC ***,the HPFRC specimens incorporating SF and HF both exhibited better splitting tensile and flexural strengths as well as less drying shrinkage than the HPFRC specimens incorporating PP ***,the fiber-enhanced specimens,especially those with added SF,registered less surface electrical resistivity and greater vulnerability to chloride ion penetration than the reference HPFRC specimen.

Thermodynamic and kinetic aspects of Sn nucleation and growth processes onto a glassy carbon electrode from SnCl2·2H2O dissolved in ethylene glycol solutions were *** reduction and oxidation peaks observed in voltammograms have demonstrated the capability of ethylene glycol solutions to electrodeposit *** temperature-dependence of diffusion coefficient values derived from potentiodynamic and potentiostatic studies helped to determine and validate estimations of the activation energy for Sn(II)bulk *** results have identified that,the suitable model to describe the early stage of Sn electrodeposition could be composed of Sn three-dimensional nucleation and diffusion-controlled growth and water reduction contributions,which was duly validated by theoretical and experimental *** the model,typical kinetic parameters such as the nucleation frequency of Sn(A),number density of Sn nuclei(N_(0)),and diffusion coefficient of Sn(II)ions(D),were *** presence of Sn nuclei with excellent quality and their structures were verified using SEM,EDX,and XRD techniques.
