Our study aimed to compare the essential oil(EO)concentration and composition of several Apiaceae species growing in the Northern region of *** yields of EOs from materials ranged from 0.03%(root EO of Angelica acutiloba and aerial parts EO of Heracleum bivittatum)-0.27%(leaf EO of Xyloselinum vietnamense).Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)allowed the identiﬁcation of 74 components in the EOs of six Apiaceae species,making up 94.4%–100.0%of the *** EO from Angelica acutiloba,(Z)-ligustilide accounted for an extremely large proportion(94.9%).EO of Angelica pubescens was dominated by six character-istic components includingα-pinene(21.5%),β-phellandrene(18.1%),p-cymene(12.2%),3-methylnonane(8.7%),o-cymene(8.1%),and D-sylvestrene(6.2%).The EO from Cryptotaenia japonica was characterized by high amounts ofα-selinene(48.7%),β-selinene(23.7%),and trans-β-farnesene(5.4%).The EOs from leaves and stems of Xyloselinum vietnamense were characterized by high concentrations of sabinene(69.8%and 33.8%),4-terpineol(8.7%and 7.4%)andβ-pinene(4.0%and 6.5%)while EOs from aerial parts and root of Xylo-selinum leonidii comprise four characteristic monoterpenes includingα-pinene(28.2%and 52.8%),β-pinene(7.9%and 10.3%),β-phellandrene(7.6%and 15.3%),and sabinene(3.0%and 4.1%).Additionally,cryptone is also one of the major components in the EO of Xyloselinum leonidii(13.2%in the aerial parts oil and 2.8%in the root oil).In the EOs isolated from the aerial parts and root of Heracleum bivittatum,α-pinene(22.5%and 70.2%)andβ-pinene(43.2%and 20.0%)were the predominant *** appeared in the EO from aerial parts of Heracleum bivittatum with a relatively high concentration(13.5%)while bornyl acetate(5.1%)was also one of the main components in the EO from its aerial parts but was not detected in other Apiaceae species in the present *** databases help identify and control the quality of plant material studied from the family Apiaceae growing in Vietnam.

Effects of Serum Concentration, Synchronization Time and Confluence on the Cell-Cycle Synchronization Efficiency of Goat Fibroblasts

this study aims to evaluate the effect of serum concentration, synchronization time, and confluence degree on the synchronisation efficiency of goat fibroblast cycle. The results indicated that there was no difference in the percentage of nucleated fibroblasts in the G0/G1 stage between serum concentrations of 0.3% and 0.4% (83.89% and 82.69%, respectively, P > 0.05) as well as between serum concentrations of 0.2% and 0.5% (76.95% and 75.46%, respectively, P > 0.05). The percentage of nucleated fibroblasts in the G0/G1 stage was highest at the concentration of 0.3% and lowest in the control group (83.89% vs. 62.67%, P 0.05). The beneficial effect of high confluence was confirmed by the large percentage of nucleated fibroblasts at the G0/G1 stage. The 60% confluency was significantly lower than the 80% and 100% confluency (73.44%, 86.63%, and 87.17%, respectively, P < 0.05). The results indicate that the goat fibroblast cycle synchronization is the most effective at the serum concentration of 0.3%, 72 hours of synchronization and 100% confluency.

A porous crosslinked organic polymer based on N-acryloxysuccinimide （NAS） and ethylene dimethacrylate （EDMA） was prepared inside 75 μm i.d. fused silica capillary as functionalizable monolithic stationary phase for electrochromatographic applications. Succinimide groups on the monolith surface provide reactive sites able to re- act readily through standard electrophile-nucleophile chemistry. Propargylamine was used to prepare alkyne func- tionalized poly（NAS-co-EDMA）. Onto this thiol-reactive polymer surface was grafted adamantane units via a photochemically-driven addition reaction. Chemical characterization was performed in situ after each synthetic step by means of Raman spectroscopy and grafting kinetics was investigated to ensure quantitative grafting of 1-adamantanethiol. The as-designed monolithic stationary phase exhibited typical reversed-phase separation mechanism as evidenced by the linear increase of the logarithm of retention factor of neutral aromatic solutes with the increase of the aqueous buffer content in the mobile phase.

Rapid expansion of cultivated bamboo negatively impacts on biodiversity and soil microbial *** such,it is important to properly manage and use bamboo to prevent and control such *** study focuses on optimizing pyrolysis conditions to produce bamboo biochar for agricultural soil amendment,particularly soil potassium(K)and water holding *** chips were pyrolyzed under nitrogen gas at 400,600,and 800℃ for 1 and 2 h of retention.A total of six biochar products were created:400-1(i.e.,400℃ in 1 h),400-2,600-1,600-2,800-1,and *** 600℃ bamboo biochar products were observed to have the greatest potential in increasing soil K and water holding *** 600-1 product had the highest potassium content(4.87%),with a water holding capacity of 3.73 g g^(−1),while the 600-2 product had the second-highest potassium content(4.13%)and the highest water holding capacity(4.21 g g^(−1))and cation exchange *** K release in 600℃ products was larger and slower than that of the 400℃ and 800℃ products,*** results also indicated that the physicochemical characteristics of bamboo biochar,such as yield,pH,surface area,water holding capacity,and K content,were significantly impacted by temperature,retention time,or a combination of these *** outcomes from this study are a valuable reference for bamboo biochar production targeting agricultural soil amendment,particularly when it is directed at increasing soil K and water holding capacity.

Objective:To characterize viral co-infections among representative hospitalized measles cases during the 2014 Hanoi ***:Throat swabs were collected from 54 pediatric patients with confirmed measles,and molecular diagnostics performed for 10 additional viral respiratory pathogens(Influenza A/H1N1pdm09;A/H3N2 and influenza B;Parainfluenza 1,2,3;Respiratory Synctial Virus,RSV;human Metapneumovirus,hM PV;Adenovirus and Picornavirus).Results:Twenty-one cases(38.9%) showed evidence of infection with other respiratory viruses:15 samples contained measles plus one additional virus,and 6 samples contained measles plus 2 additional *** was detected as a predominant cause of co-infections(13 cases;24.1%),followed by RSV(6 cases;11.1%),A/H1N1pdm09(3 cases;5.6%),PIV3(3 cases;3.7%),Rhinovirus(3 cases;3.7%) and hM PV(1 case;1.96%).Conclusions:Viral co-infections identified from pediatric measles cases may have contributed to increased disease severity and high rate of fatal *** treatment of measles cases may require control of multiple viral respiratory pathogens.

Piaoac Granites Related W-Sn Mineralization, Northern Vietnam: Evidences from Geochemistry, Zircon Geochronology and Hf Isotopes

Piaoac granites exposed in the Cao Bang region, northern Vietnam, are S-type granite, which are associated with W-Sn-Mo-Be-F mineralization. Zircon U-Pb ages, major and trace elements, mineral chemical and Hf isotopic compositions of the W-Sn-bearing granites from the Piaoac District have been investigated in detail. LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of zircon grains from these granites yielded ages of 82.5±2.3 and 82±1.8 Ma, representing an episode of Late Cretaceous magmatic event. These granites are characterized by high peraluminous and have typical S-type geochemical signatures with high SiO_2(72.37 wt.%–73.07 wt.%), high A/CNK values(1.61–1.65) and Al_2O_3(14.4 wt.%–15 wt.%). They are enriched in Rb, U, K, Th, Ta and Pb and display pronounced negative Ba, Sr, Nb, Ti and Eu(Eu/Eu*=0.19–0.24) anomalies. The high degree of fractional crystallization is characterized by low Rb, Sr, Ba and Eu concentrations with high ratios of La/Sm and Eu/Eu*. Zircon grains show εHf(t) values from-9.69 to-0.9 and the corresponding TDM2 range from 1.2 to 1.7 Ga, indicating that these granites could be derived from the Proterozoic basement rocks with minor input from mantle-derived magmas. The calculation of Fe^(3+) and Fe^(2+) of biotites indicates a low oxygen fugacity condition(log fO_2 ranging from 10-17 to 10-18 bars, below MH), which is favorable for the W-Sn mineralization. Tungsten and tin have been enriched in granitic magmas through fractionation, and low oxygen fugacity conditions have promoted the accumulation and transportation of W-Sn in the hydrothermal fluids, leading to deposition of mineral phases. The geochemical data suggest that Piaoac granites formed in an extensional setting related with the Late Cretaceous magmatism occurring large-scale lithospheric extensional in South China Block.

Efficacy of 308-nm Monochromatic Excimer Lamp and Topical Tacrolimus Combination Therapy in Localized Vitiligo:A Study in Vietnam

Objective:Combination therapy of a 308-nm monochromatic excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus is widely used in the treatment of localized vitiligo;however,there are no published studies investigating this combination therapy in Vietnamese patients with *** study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of combined excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus therapy for patients with localized vitiligo in ***:We performed a pre-post clinical trial of 30 patients diagnosed with localized vitiligo in *** patients were treated with an excimer lamp twice weekly and with topical tacrolimus twice *** was evaluated based on the reduction rate of the vitiligo area scoring index (VASI).Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics,Fisher’s exact test,Kruskal-WallisH test,and Spearman correlation coefficient ***:After 12 weeks of treatment,response was excellent or good in 16 patients (53.3%),moderate in 8 patients (26.7%),and poor in 6 patients (20.0%).The excellent or good responses increased over time from 3 patients (10.0%) at 6 weeks to 16 patients (53.3%) at 12 weeks (P = 0.001).Earlier initiation of repigmentation was associated with a better response to treatment (r = -0.71;P = 0.020).Patients with a perifollicular repigmentation pattern responded better to treatment than those with combined or marginal repigmentation patterns (P = 0.003).Side effects occurred in 13 patients (43.3%),including burning (43.3%),pruritus (10.0%),and mild blistering (6.7%),and none of these interrupted the ***:Combination therapy with excimer lamp and topical tacrolimus appears to be effective and safe in treating patients with localized vitiligo in Vietnam.

Objective: To evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract using both in vitro and in vivo ***: Lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages were treated with an ethanol extract of Polygonatum kingianum rhizomes at different concentrations to determine nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) production. For in vivo study, Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was further investigated for its antiinflammatory effect in a mouse model with collagen antibodyinduced arthritis. Phytochemical study of Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was also ***: Saponins(142 mg/g total yield) was the main component in the Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract. 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide,(E,E)-9-oxooctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and 3-(2?-hydroxy-4?-methoxy-benzyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-chroman-4-one were isolated from the extract. Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract exhibited potential anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide and PGE2 production in RAW 264.7 cells in a dosedependent manner. The level of arthritis in mice with collagen antibody-induced arthritis was significantly reduced(P<0.01) after treatment with Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract, particularly at a dose of 1 000 mg/kg body weight. Besides, the extract demonstrated the regulatory effects on serum tumor necrosis factoralpha, interleukin-6, and interleukin-10 in treated ***: Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract has beneficial effects on inflammatory cytokine regulation and PGE2 inhibition in an experimental mouse model with collagen antibody-induced arthritis. The phytochemical screening reveals that the saponin, as the main component, and sterols(daucosterol and 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide) from Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract may contribute to its promising in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities.

Objective:To evaluate the antitumor activity both in vitro and in vivo of saponin–phospholipid complex of Panax ***:The in vitro cytotoxic effect of saponins extract and saponin–phospholipid complex against human lung cancer NCI-H460 and breast cancer cell lines BT474 was examined using MTS *** in vivo evaluation of antitumor potential,saponin and saponin–phospholipid complex were administered orally in rats induced mammary carcinogenesis by 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene,for 30 ***:Our data showed that saponin–phospholipid complex had stronger anticancer effect compared to saponin *** IC50 values of saponin–phospholipid complex and saponin extract for NCI-H460 cell lines were 28.47 mg/m L and 47.97 mg/mL,respectively and these values for BT474 cells were 53.18 mg/mL and 86.24 mg/mL,*** vivo experiments,administration of saponin,saponin–phospholipid complex and paclitaxel(positive control) effectively suppressed 7,12-dimethylbenz(a) anthracene-induced breast cancer evidenced by a decrease in tumor volume,the reduction of lipid peroxidation level and increase in the body weight,and elevated the enzymatic antioxidant activities of superoxide dismutase,catalase,glutathione peroxidase in rat breast ***:Our study suggests that saponin extract from Panax notoginseng and saponin–phospholipid complex have potential to prevent cancer,especially breast cancer.
