BACKGRoUND Superior mesenteric artery(SMA)syndrome is a rare cause of duodenal obstruction by extrinsic compression between the SMA and the aorta(SMA-Ao).Although the left lateral recumbent position is considered effective in the treatment of SMA syndrome,individual variations in the optimal patient position have been *** this report,we present two elderly cases of SMA syndrome that exhibited rapid recovery due to ultrasonographic dynamic evaluation of the optimal position for each *** SUMMARY Case 1:A 90-year-old man with nausea and *** diagnosis of SMA syndrome by computed tomography(CT),ultrasonography(US)revealed the SMA-Ao distance in the supine position(4 mm),which slightly improved in the lateral position(5.7–7.0 mm)without the passage of duodenal ***,in the sitting position,the SMA-Ao distance was increased to 15 mm accompanied by improved content ***,US indicated enhanced passage upon abdominal massage on the right *** day 2,the patient could eat comfortably with the optimal position and *** 2:An 87-year-old woman with *** the diagnosis of SMA syndrome and aspiration pneumonia by CT,dynamic US confirmed the optimal position(SMA-Ao distance was improved to 7 mm in forward-bent position,whereas it remained at 5 mm in the supine position).By day 7 when her pneumonia recovered,she could eat with the optimal *** The optimal position for SMA syndrome varies among *** US appears to be a valuable tool in improving patient outcomes.

针对混合磁悬浮洁净传送装置无法兼顾零功率和抗偏载悬浮的问题,提出一种磁铁可动式混合磁悬浮系统,并设计了其零功率抗偏载控制策略。该系统中一个磁极固定,其他两个磁铁可绕悬浮圆盘中心轴线转动,通过调节气隙长度和磁铁转动角度克服偏载引起的扰动力和扰动力矩,从而实现零稳态电流和抗偏载悬浮。首先建立系统的线性变参数模型,分析该系统实现零功率水平悬浮需要满足的条件。零功率抗偏载控制策略在比例-微分控制器中引入电流和气隙偏差的积分反馈,并应用质心观测器反求磁体转动角度,求解方法分别采用雅可比逆变换解析求解和查表法内插取值两种方法。试验结果表明,该系统能够在偏载条件下保持零功率水平悬浮,应用雅可比的连续控制策略具有更好的纠偏特性,稳态时电流波动范围小。

Population-based X-ray gastric cancer screening in Hiroshima prefecture, Japan

Evaluation of Psychological Changes on Women Following Coordination Exercises: Immediate Effects of Life Kinetik® Implementation

objective: This study aimed to evaluate the immediate psychological effects of coordination exercises on women in Japan. Methods: The subjects were 17 adult women (height, 160.1 ± 5.1 cm;weight, 54.3 ± 10.5 kg;age, 57.8 ± 8.3 years) living in the community and attending a fitness club. The subjects performed a coordination exercise called Life Kinetik®. The subjects responded to the Two-Dimensional Mood Scale–Short Term before and after performing 30 minutes of Life Kinetik®. The results were tabulated and four psychological states were calculated (i.e., vitality, stability, pleasure, and arousal). The pre- and post-implementation results were statistically analyzed using a corresponding t-test. Results: Significant differences were found in activation and arousal levels, but not in stability and comfort levels. Conclusion: The coordination exercise, Life Kinetik®, was found to be an exercise program with potential psychological benefits, as it could change women’s psychological condition to active and excited states.

A Case of Warthin’s Tumor Together with IgG4-Related Sialadenitis

Warthin’s tumor is the second most frequent neoplasm next to pleomorphic adenoma in the salivary gland. The tumor contains the epithelial oncocyte cells with the presence of rich-mitochondria and their surrounding abundant lymphocytes. A relatively new disease entity of IgG4-related disease frequently occurs in the salivary gland. However, the coexistence of Warthin’s tumor and IgG4-related disease is scarcely observed. We have recently experienced a rare case of Warthin’s tumor with IgG4-related sialadenitis. A 51-year-old man presented to our hospital, complaining of a mass with right submandibular tenderness and spontaneous pain. A computed tomography scan of the cervical region revealed a suspicion of lymph node proliferative disease, including malignant lymphoma. Elevated serum levels of IL-2R: 1843 U/ml (reference value 122 - 496 U/ml), IgG: 3430 mg/dl (reference value 861 - 1747 mg/dl), and IgG4: 3140 mg/dl (reference value 11 - 121 mg/dl) were observed. other laboratory data showed within normal ranges. The cervical tumor was diagnosed as Warthin’s tumor by the findings of fine-needle aspiration cytology and biopsy examination. Immunohistochemistry revealed numerous IgG4- and IgG-positive cells with fibrosis surrounding the epithelial component of Warthin’s tumor, suggesting IgG4-rerated sialadenitis. Finally, we diagnosed the cervical tumor as Warthin tumor with IgG4-related sialadenitis. This is the second report describing a case of Warthin’s tumor with possible involvement of IgG4-related sialadenitis.

Spatiotemporal changes in antlerless proportion of culled Sika deer in relation to deer density

Population management of herbivores is widely applied to decrease damage to forests in the northern hemisphere. Culling more antlerless deer, including females and fawns, is an effective means of reducing the population and helps to improve management efficiency. To increase the efficiency of antlerless-biased culling, we assessed the spatiotemporal distribution of the antlerless ratio in culled sika deer (Cervus nippon) in relation to population density. We hypothesized that the antlerless ratio is higher at the center of the distribution than at the margins of the deer’s range, because dispersal processes differ according to sex and age: Young male deer first disperse into an unoccupied area, and then males may become established in the new area for approximately 10–15 years before the number of females increases. A statistical model revealed spatiotemporal changes in the antlerless ratio of culled sika deer. The change in the ratio basically fit the density distribution of the deer, which was estimated independently on the basis of fecal pellet count surveys. The antlerless ratio estimated from the model increased asymptotically as deer density rose. The results support our hypothesis and suggest that antlerless sika deer will be more easily culled at the center rather than at the margins of the distribution range. These findings should help to increase the efficiency of managing the deer via antlerless-biased culling.

Modelling of a shape memory alloy actuator for feedforward hysteresis compensator considering load fluctuation

This paper presents a hysteresis mathematical model of a shape memory alloy(SMA)actuator for feedforward hysteresis *** hysteresis model represents the relation between temperature,stress,and electric ***,based on the laws of thermodynamics,the hysteresis model of the SMA actuator is ***,the inverse of the hysteresis model is obtained to produce a compensator for non‐linear characteristics such as hysteresis and ***,the parameters of the hysteresis model are obtained from each experiment under constant load and constant temperature,and the model validity is confirmed by comparing experimentally obtained ***,the inverse model is applied to a part of feedforward hysteresis *** order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model as hysteresis compensator,an electrical resistance control using feedback-feedforward control was conducted by numerical *** simulation results indicate advantages of the proposed mathematical model in hysteresis compensation of SMA actuator,and demonstrate that the model is capable of handling load fluctuation.

Equivalent widths and line widths of Ca II infrared triplet emission lines were measured in the high-resolution optical spectra of 39 young stellar *** found that the equivalent widths of the emission lines decrease with stellar *** has often been claimed that strong chromospheric activity is generated by a dynamo process caused by fast rotation of the ***,we found no clear correlation between the strength of the Ca II lines and the stellar rotation ***,we found that the objects with high mass accretion rates had stronger Ca II emission *** correlation supports the turbulent chromosphere model or the magnetic accretion theory for classical T Tauri *** also noticed that the equivalent widths of Ca II lines in transitional disk objects are one-tenth of those in classical T Tauri stars,even if the masses of the circumstellar disks are comparable.

Reactivity improvement of ilmenite by calcium nitrate melt infiltration for Chemical Looping Combustion of biomass

Chemical Looping Combustion is a novel process that generates sequestration-ready Co_(2) from the combustion of woody biomass without requiring a gas separation step and without diluting the Co_(2) with N_(2) from *** is achieved by oxidizing the fuel with lattice oxygen of a metal oxide oxygen *** using cheap and abundant ilmenite ore(FeTio3)as the oxygen carrier,the rather low reactivity towards volatiles released from the biomass upon devolatilization,as well as detrimental structural changes due to a segregation of Fe and Ti in the material,are of *** issues can be addressed by modifying ilmenite with Ca via melt *** this work,we demonstrate that this modification results in a good distribution of Ca throughout the ilmenite particles that a)prevents detrimental Fe/Ti segregation,b)improves the mechanical stability of the particle compared to materials prepared by solution impregnation and c)improves the reactivity of this material towards hydrogen and wet ***,fixed bed experiments showed that the Ca modification not only resulted in increased methane conversion,but also in an increased degree of oxidation of gaseous intermediates Co and *** thus conclude that the performance of ilmenite in Chemical Looping processes can be significantly enhanced by Ca modification of ilmenite either prior to use or in-situ during operation of this bed material with Ca-rich fuels such as woody biomass.
