In recent years, many image-based rendering techniques have advanced from static to dynamic scenes and thus become video-based rendering （VBR） methods. But actually, only a few of them can render new views on-line. We present a new VBR system that creates new views of a live dynamic scene. This system provides high quality images and does not require any background subtraction. Our method follows a plane-sweep approach and reaches real-time rendering using consumer graphic hardware, graphics processing unit （GPU）. Only one computer is used for both acquisition and rendering. The video stream acquisition is performed by at least 3 webcams. We propose an additional video stream management that extends the number of webcams to 10 or more. These considerations make our system low-cost and hence accessible for everyone. We also present an adaptation of our plane-sweep method to create simultaneously multiple views of the scene in real-time. Our system is especially designed for stereovision using autostereoscopic displays. The new views are computed from 4 webcams connected to a computer and are compressed in order to be transfered to a mobile phone. Using GPU programming, our method provides up to 16 images of the scene in real-time. The use of both GPU and CPU makes this method work on only one consumer grade computer.

The same-beam VLBI observations of Rstar and Vstar,which were two small satellites of Japanese lunar mission,SELENE,were successfully performed by using Shanghai and Urumqi 25-m telescopes. When the separation angle between Rstar and Vstar was less than 0.1 deg,the differential phase delay of the X-band signals between Rstar and Vstar on Shanghai-Urumqi baseline was obtained with a very small error of 0.15 mm rms,which was reduced by 1-2 order compared with the former VLBI results. When the separation angle was less than 0.56 deg,the differential phase delay of the S-band signals was also obtained with a very small error of several mm rms. The orbit determination for Rstar and Vstar was performed,and the accuracy was improved to a level of several meters by using VLBI and Doppler data. The high-accuracy same-beam differential VLBI technique is very useful in orbit determination for a spacecraft,and will be used in orbit determination for Mars missions of China Yinghuo-1 and Russia Phobos-grunt.

Synthesis of a stroboscopic image from a hand-held camera sequence for a sports analysis

This paper presents a method for synthesizing a stroboscopic image of a moving sports player from a hand-held camera sequence. This method has three steps: synthesis of background image,synthesis of stroboscopic image, and removal of player's shadow. In synthesis of background image step, all input frames masked a bounding box of the player are stitched together to generate a background image. The player is extracted by an HOG-based people *** synthesis of stroboscopic image step, the background image, the input frame, and a mask of the player synthesize a stroboscopic image. In removal of shadow step, we remove the player's shadow which negatively affects an analysis by using mean-shift. In our previous work, synthesis of background image has been timeconsuming. In this paper, by using the bounding box of the player detected by HOG and by subtracting the images for synthesizing a mask, computational speed and accuracy can be improved. These have contributed greatly to the improvement from the previous *** are main improvements and novelty points from our previous method. In experiments, we confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method, measured the player's speed and stride length, and made a footprint image. The image sequence was captured under a simple condition that no other people were in the background and the person controlling the video camera was standing still, such like a motion parallax was not occurred. In addition, we applied the synthesis method to various scenes to confirm its versatility.

A simple fast method is given for sequentially retrieving all the records in a B tree. A file structure for database is proposed. The records in its primary data file are sorted according to the key order. A B tree is used as its dense index. It is easy to insert, delete or search a record, and it is also convenient to retrieve records in the sequential order of the keys. The merits and efficiencies of these methods or structures are discussed in detail.

Polyvinylidene fluoride （PVDF） hollow fiber membranes prepared from spinning solutions with different polyvinyl pyrrolidone （PVP） contents （1% and 5%） at different extrusion rates were obtained by wet/dry phase process keeping all other spinning parameters constant. In spinning these PVDF hollow fibers, dimethylacetamide （DMAc） and PVP were used as a solvent and an additive, respectively. Water was used as the inner coagulant. Dimethylformamide （DMF） and water （30/70） were used as the external coagulant. The performances of membranes were characterized in terms of water flux, solute rejection for the wet membranes. The structure and morphology of PVDF hollow fiber were examined by BET adsorption, dry/wet weight method and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. It is found that the increase in PVP content and extrusion rate of spinning solution can result in the increase of water flux and decrease of solute rejection. The improvements of interconnected porous structure and pore size are induced by shear-thinning behavior of spinning solution at high extrusion rates, which could result in the increase of water flux of hollow fiber membranes. The increase of extrusion rate also leads to the increase of membrane thickness due to the recovery effect of elastic property of polymer chains.

Aim： To evaluate the relationship between testicular function and testicular volume measured by using Prader orchidometry and ultrasonography （US） to determine the critical testicular volume indicating normal testicular function by each method. Methods： Total testicular volume （right plus left testicular volume） was measured in 794 testes in 397 men with infertility （mean age, 35.6 years） using a Prader orchidometer and also by ultrasonography. Ultrasonographic testicular volumes were calculated as length x width x height x 0.71. To evaluate volume-function relationships, patients were divided into 10 groups representing 5-mL increments of total testicular volume by each method from below 10 mL to 50 mL or more. Results： Mean total testicular volume based on Prader orchidometry and US were 36.8 mL and 26.3 mL, respectively. Semen volume, sperm density, total sperm count, total motile sperm count, and serum FSH, LH, and testosterone all correlated significantly with total testicular volume measured by either method. Mean sperm density was in the oligozoospermic range in patients with total testicular volume below 35 mL by orchidometry or below 20 mL by ultrasonography. Mean total sperm count was subnormal in patients with total testicular volume below 30 mL by orchidometry or under 20 mL by ultrasonography. Conclusion： Testicular volume measured by either ultrasonography or Prader orchidometry correlated significantly with testicular function. However, critical total testicular volume indicating normal or nearly normal testicular function was 30 mL to 35 mL using Prader orchidometer and 20 mL using ultrasonography. Prader orchidometry morphometrically and functionally overestimated the testicular volume in comparison to US. （Asian JAndro12008 Mar; 10： 319-324）
