In this paper we propose a COncurrent Production Engineering System （COPES） for the flexible transfer line （FTL） layout design in a restricted area. COPES first determines the buffer size in front of the bay of each machine tool in the FTL and then initializes a computer aided design （CAD） system to draw the FTL in a restricted area. We develop a set of modules systems which have been integrated into a single framework, in accordance with the practice of concurrent engineering. Concurrent engineering involves the cooperation of these activities. It＇s expected that the developed COPES can improve the cooperation between production engineers＇ and the plant designer. This can be done by enabling the production engineers＇ to make better decision regarding FTL buffer size.

Hemorrhagic gastric and duodenal ulcers after the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster

AIM:To elucidate the characteristics of hemorrhagic gastric/duodenal ulcers in a post-earthquake period within one medical ***:Hemorrhagic gastric/duodenal ulcers in the Iwate Prefectural Kamaishi Hospital during the 6-mo period after the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster were reviewed *** subjects were 27patients who visited our hospital with a chief complaint of hematemesis or hemorrhagic stool and were diagnosed as having hemorrhagic gastric/duodenal ulcers by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy during a 6-mo period starting on March 11,*** period was divided into two phases:the acute stress phase,comprising the first month after the earthquake disaster,and the chronic stress phase,from the second through the sixth *** following items were analyzed according to these phases:age,sex,sites and number of ulcers,peptic ulcer history,status of Helicobacter pylori(***)infection,intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,and degree of impact of the earthquake ***:In the acute stress phase from 10 d to 1mo after the disaster,the number of patients increased rapidly,with a nearly equal male-to-female ratio,and the rate of multiple ulcers was significantly higher than in the previous year(88.9%vs 25%,P<0.005).In the chronic stress phase starting 1 mo after the earthquake disaster,the number of patients decreased to a level similar to that of the previous *** were more male patients during this period,and many patients tended to have a solitary *** patients with duodenal ulcers found in the acute stress phase were negative for serum *** antibodies,and this was significantly different from the previous year’s positive rate of 75%(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Severe stress caused by an earthquake disaster may have affected the characteristics of hemorrhagic gastric/duodenal ulcers.

Granitic rocks related to the formation of Haobugao Zn-Pb-Cu-Sn skarn deposit,Inner Mongolia,China,show unusual low whole-rockδO values down to -8.8‰(V-SMOW),whereas separated quartz crystals from those rocks give positiveδO values of +4.1 to +9.9‰.Chemical analyses and microscopic observation of those granitic rocks confirm that they suffered hydrothermal *** skarn specimens and quartz from the Haobugao deposit also show negativeδO *** isotopic evidence indicates that intensive meteoric water circulation occurred at the time of granitic intrusion, and caused the pervasive hydrothermal alteration of granitic rocks and the precipitation of skarn deposit in this area.

AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness of a short-type single-balloon-enteroscope(SBE) for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) in patients with a reconstructed ***:Short-type SBE was developed to perform ERCP in postoperative patients with a reconstructed ***-type SBE is a direct-viewing endoscope with the following specifications:working length,1520 mm;total length,1840 mm;channel diameter,3.2 *** addition,short-type SBE has a water-jet *** study group comprised 22 patients who underwent 31 sessions of short-type SBE-assisted ERCP from June 2011 through May *** was performed by Billroth-Ⅱ(B-Ⅱ) gastrectomy in 6 patients(8 sessions),Roux-en-Y(R-Y) gastrectomy in 14 patients(21 sessions),and R-Y hepaticojejunostomy in 2 patients(2 sessions).We retrospectively studied the rate of reaching the blind end(papilla of Vater or choledochojejunal anastomosis),mean time required to reach the blind end,diagnostic success rate(defined as the rate of successfully imaging the bile and pancreatic ducts),therapeutic success rate(defined as the rate of successfully completing endoscopic treatment),mean procedure time,and ***:Among the 31 sessions of ERCP,the rate of reaching the blind end was 88% in B-Ⅱ gastrectomy,91% in R-Y gastrectomy,and 100% in R-Y *** mean time required to reach the papilla was 18.3 min in B-Ⅱ gastrectomy,21.1 min in R-Y gastrectomy,and 32.5 min in R-Y *** diagnostic success rates in all patients and those with an intact papilla were respectively 86% and 86% in B-Ⅱ gastrectomy,90% and 87% in R-Y gastrectomy,and 100% in R-Y *** therapeutic success rates in all patients and those with an intact papilla were respectively 100% and 100% in B-Ⅱ gastrectomy,94% and 92% in R-Y gastrectomy,and 100% in R-Y *** the channel diameter was 3.2 mm,stone extraction could be performed with a wire-guided basket in 12

In this study, the static stability of the grasp of a single planar object is analyzed using the potential energy method. In previous papers, we considered cases in which individual fingers were replaced by a multidimensional translational spring model, in which each finger is constructed with prismatic joints. Human hands and the most developed mechanical hands are constructed with revolute joints. In this paper, the effects of fingertip rotation and a revolute joint spring model are investigated. A grasp stiffness matrix is analytically derived by considering not only frictional rolling contact but also frictionless sliding contact. The difl＇erence between the frictional stiffness matrix and the frictionless one is analytically obtained. The effect of local curvature at contact points is analytically derived. The grasp displacement directions affected by the change in curvature and the contact condition are also obtained. The derived stiffness matrix of the revolute joint model is compared with that of the prismatic joint model, and then the stiffness relation is clarified. The gravity effect of the object is also considered. The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated through numerical examples. The stability is evaluated by the eigenvalues of the grasp stiffness matrix, and the grasp displacement direction is obtained by the corresponding eigenvectors. The effect of joint angle is also discussed.
