Chemotherapy and molecular targeting therapy for recurrent cervical cancer

For patients with primary stage IVB, persistent, or recurrent cervical cancer, chemotherapy remains the standard treatment, although it is neither curative nor associated with long-term disease control. In this review, we summarized the history of treatment of recurrent cervical cancer, and the current recommendation for chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy. Eligible articles were identified by a search of the MEDLINE bibliographical database for the period up to November 30, 2014. The search strategy included the following any or all of the keywords：＂uterine cervical cancer＂, ＂chemotherapy＂, and ＂targeted therapies＂. Since cisplatin every 21 days was considered as the historical standard treatment for recurrent cervical cancer, subsequent trials have evaluated and demonstrated activity for other agents including paclitaxel, gemcitabine, topotecan and vinorelbine among others. Accordingly, promising agents were incorporated into phase III trials. To examine the best agent to combine with cisplatin, several landmark phase III clinical trials were conducted by Gynecologic Oncology Group （GOG） and Japan Clinical Oncology Group （JCOG）. Through, GOG204 and JCOG0505, paclitaxel/cisplatin （TP） and paclitaxel/carboplatin （TC） are now considered to be the recommended therapies for recurrent cervical cancer patients. However, the prognosis of patients who are already resistant to chemotherapy, are very poor. Therefore new therapeutic strategies are urgently required. Molecular targeted therapy will be the most hopeful candidate of these strategies. From the results of GOG240, bevacizumab combined with TP reached its primary endpoint of improving overall survival （OS）. Although, the prognosis for recurrent cervical cancer patients is still poor, the results of GOG240 shed light on the usefulness of molecular target agents to chemotherapy in cancer patients. Lagrangian and Eulerian statistics are obtained from the direct numerical simulation of a turbulent channel flow. The Reynolds number is obtained to be Reτ = 100 （based on friction velocity and channel half-height）. The Lagrangian time microscales are compared to their Eulerian equivalents. It is found that the Lagrangian time microscales equal the Eulerian time microscales at the wall, but they are consistently larger than the Eulerian away from the wall. The Eulerian time scales are also found to be scaled by the propagation velocity rather than the mean velocity. The ratio of the Lagrangian to the Eulerian time microscales is found to be nearly constant away from the wall （y^＋〉 40）.

Propagation of Weak Pressure Waves against Two Parallel Subsonic Streams

In this paper, the characteristics of a pressure wave propagating against two parallel subsonic streams in a constant-area straight duct are investigated by one-dimensional analysis, two-dimensional numerical simulation, and experiments. Computations have been carried out by the two-dimensional Euler Equations using the Chakravarthy-Osher-type TVD scheme. Optical observations by the schlieren method as well as wall pressure measurements have been performed to clarify both the structure and the propagation velocity of pressure waves. The results show that the pressure wave propagating against the streams changes into a bifurcated pressure wave and the bifurcation occurs in the low speed streams. It is also found that the propagation velocity of the pressure wave obtained by the analysis and computation agrees well with the present experimental data.

Mitochondria are important organelles for cellular metabolism and homeostasis,and their abnormalities are implicated in various *** mitochondria originate from protobacterium,their components are easily recognized by pathogen sensors called pattern-recognition receptors as foreign substances in the *** is prominent for mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)which has different properties from nuclear DNA,such as low,if any,methylation status,vulnerability to oxidation due to the proximity to the oxidative phosphorylation machinery,and its circular *** studies indicate that perturbations in mitochondrial function and homeostasis cause mtDNA to leak into the cytoplasm,where it triggers the innate immune response(West and Shadel,2017).Although inflammatory response is a cellular strategy to resist viral infections,it can also lead to undesirable outcomes by damaging own cells and tissues.

This paper proposes a systematic design method of overlap frequency domain equalization(FDE) for single carrier (SC) transmission without a guard interval (GI).Based on the analysis of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the equalizer output for each symbol,the authors adaptivelydetermine the block of the overlap FDE,where the block is defined as a set of symbols at the equalizeroutput with sufficiently low error rate,for a certain fixed sliding window size,which corresponds toa fast Fourier transform (FFT) window *** proposed method takes advantage of the fact thatthe utility part of the equalized signal is localized around the center of the FFT *** addition,the authors also propose to adjust the block size in order to control the computational complexity ofthe equalization per processed sample associating with the average bit error rate (BER) of the *** results show that the proposed scheme can achieve comparable BER performance to theconventional SC-FDE scheme with sufficient GI insertion for both the coded and uncoded cases withvarious modulation levels,while requiring lower computational complexity compared to the SC overlapFDE transmission with the fixed block.

Material flow analysis (MFA) and value flow analysis (VFA) were applied to the sanitation system in an urban slum in Indonesia. Based on the results of the MFA and VFA, garbage and excreta disposal costs were evaluated to be 0.7% and 1.1%, respectively, of per capita income. Such value flows seem reasonable in light of the recognized affordability to pay (ATP) standard. However, current excreta disposal methods create negative impacts on downstream populations. Because such disadvantages do not go back to disposers, but passed to downstream, the current value flow structure does not motivate individual toilet users to install treatment facility. Based on current material and value flow structures, a resource recycling sanitation system scenario was examined. Based on VFA, an affordable initial cost for such a system was calculated; this was found to be comparable in price to a cheaper composting toilet that is currently available in the market.
