Objectives:This study aimed to determine the prognostic value of otoacoustic emissions(OAEs)in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss ***:The study included 30 subjects with unilateral idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss(ISSNHL).Each patient was evaluated four times:at baseline and after one week,one month,and three months of *** each visit,each patient was subjected to full audiological history,otoscopic examination,basic audiological evaluations,and transiently evoked and distortion product otoacoustic emission(TEOAEs&DEOAEs).results:The hearing thresholds(frequency range 250e8000 Hz)and word recognition scores of patients with detectable TEOAEs and DPOAEs improved significantly,whereas no significant improvements were observed in those with no ***:Hearing improvement is better in patients with detectable TEOAEs and *** a result,TEOAEs and DPOAEs are recommended as routine tests in all SSNHL patients to predict outcomes and monitor treatment as TEOAEs and DPOAEs reflect the cochlear OHCs activity.

The research presented in this paper quantifies and models the impact of wet pavement surface and rainy weather conditions on driver perception-reaction times(PrTs),deceleration levels,and traffic signal change interval durations.A total of 648 stop-run records were collected as part of the research effort for a 72 km/h(45 mi/h)approach speed where participant drivers encountered a yellow indication initiation at different distances from the *** participant drivers were randomly selected in different age groups(under 40 years old,40 to 59 years old,and 60 years of age or older)and genders(female and male).Using the gathered data,statistical models for driver PrT and deceleration levels were developed,considering roadway surface and environmental parameters,driver attributes(age and gender),roadway grade,approaching speed,and time and distance to the intersection at the onset of *** weather yellow timings were then developed and summarized in lookup tables as a function of different factors(driver age/gender,roadway grade,speed limit,precipitation level,and roadway surface condition)to provide practical guidelines for the design of yellow signal timings in wet and rainy weather *** results indicate that wet roadway surface conditions require a 5 percent increase in the change interval and that rainy conditions require a 10 percent or more increase in the duration of the change *** recommended change durations can also be integrated within the Vehicle Infrastructure Integration(VII)initiative to provide customizable driver warnings prior to a transition to a red indication.

We report on low-cost fabrication and high-energy density of full-cell lithium-ion battery (LIB) ***-hierarchical electrode architectures of Li2SiO3/TiO2@nano-carbon anode (***@nano-C) and high-voltage olivine LiMnPO4@nano-carbon cathode (LMPO@nano-C) are designed for half-and full-system LIB-Cr2032 coin cell *** the basis of primary architecture-power-driven LIB geometrics,the structure keys including three-dimensional (3D) modeling superhierarchy,multiscale micro/nano architectures and anisotropic surface heterogeneity affect the buildup design of anode/cathode LIB *** hierarchical electrode surface topologies enable continuous in-/out-flow rates and fast transport pathways of Li+-ions during charge/discharge *** stacked layer configurations of pouch LIB-types lead to excellent charge/discharge rate,and energy density of237.6 Wh *** the most promising LIB-configurations,the high specific energy density of hierarchical pouch battery systems may improve energy storage for long-driving range of electric ***,the anisotropic alignments of hierarchical electrode architectures in the large-scale LIBs provide proof of excellent capacity storage and outstanding durability and *** full-system LIB-Cr2032 coin cell models maintain high specific capacity of～89.8%within a long-term life period of2000 cycles,and average Coulombic efficiency of99.8%at 1C rate for future configuration of LIB manufacturing and commercialization challenges.

AIM:To test whether the status of positive cytomegalovirus(CMV) DNA detection adds to the predictive value of IL28B and to further categorize C/T allele ***:This study included 166 chronic hepatitis C(CHC) patients who received combined interferon and ribavirin therapy for 48 wk,84 spontaneous hepatitis C virus(HCV) resolvers who were positive for IgG anti-HCV antibody and negative for HCV rNA,and 100 healthy subjects who were negative for both HCV antibodies and rNA as *** DNA from peripheral blood was used for IL28B rs.12979860 single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) and CMV DNA detection.A 139 bp fragment containing IL28B SNP was amplified in all subjects by polymerase chain reaction using a specifically designed *** the IL28B rs.12979860 SNP was detected by restriction fragment length polymorphism(rFLP) *** presence of CMV DNA was tested by amplification of the gB1 gene using nested polymerase chain *** role of CMV and IL28B rs.12979860 SNP genotypes in determining the response rate to combined interferon therapy and clinical status of patients were statistically ***:Current data showed that 67% of patients carrying the IL28B 12979860 C/C allele had a sustained viral response(SVr) while the genotypes C/T and TT were associated with lower SVr rates,50% and 48%,*** rates for the C/C allele were lower than other HCV genotypes and/or other *** CC was associated with the response to interferon(P = 0.025).Genotype C/C was reduced from 48% in controls to 14% in CHC patients suggesting its protective role against progression to *** majority of spontaneously cleared subjects(86%) were C/C,confirming its protective *** C/T allele was present in 71% of CHC patients compared with 38% of controls,so the use of IL28B SNP genotyping only in these patients may be of little value as a predictor of *** reactivation occurred in 40% of CHC ***-infection with

Development of Solar Ponds Optimization Model: Arab Potash Solar System—A Case Study

A steady state optimization model used to define the optimum salt to carnallite ponds area ratio in a solar pond system was developed. The model is based on material balance analysis using a cascade of complete-mix reactors model (cascade of CFSTr, continuous-flow stirred-tank reactor) prepared for the solar pond system. The basic material balance model shall use the basic phase chemistry relations and physical parameters of the solar pond system under optimization. The Arab Potash solar pond system data was used to examine the developed model where the Arab potash solar system was used as a Case Study. In the course of the model development, calibration and validation of the model is performed. Using this steady state model the optimum salt pond to carnallite pond area ratio is deduced. This optimum ratio is defined as the optimum area ratio that maximizes the carnallite production per the total pond system area. This term, which could be expressed as tons per km2, presents the best pond system efficiency. The results show that a 1.88 ratio of salt to carnallite ponds area is the optimum ratio.

Background:?Disabling internal rotation contractures are frequently experienced in children with unresolved birth brachial plexus palsies. Multiple surgical options like muscle release, tendon transfer, or humeral osteotomy are available to treat such cases. Purpose:?Evaluation of the outcome of subscapularis release and latissimus dorsi and teres major tendon transfer in the management of obstetric brachial palsies in Mansoura University neurosurgical department. Study type: retrospective observational study. Patients and Methods: Twenty-five cases who underwent subscapularis release and latissimus dorsi and teres major transfer were included in the study. All patients were subjected to complete history taking, through clinical examination. The degree of shoulder movement and disability was assessed via Modified Gilbert shoulder evaluation scale. results: The least follow up period for our patients was 9 months. There was a clear improvement of shoulder function evaluated using Modified Gilbert shoulder evaluation scale as there were 73% of postoperative group between GIV and GV while about 84% of preoperative group were between GII and GIII. Conclusion: Tendon transfer is a valid easy procedure for correction of shoulder deformities in patients with obstetrical brachial plexus palsy. It is considered a very good option for patients who missed the chance of microsurgical repair or patients with poor shoulder recovery after surgery. Although some authors reported deterioration of shoulder function with log time follow up after tendon transfer, it is still better than those who were not operated.
