One of the main factors impacting the reliability of energy systems nowadays is the growing interdependence between electricity and gas networks due to the increase in the installation of gas-fired units. Securityconstrained unit commitment(SCUC) models are used to economically schedule generating units without compromising the system reliability. This paper proposes a novel SCUC formulation that includes dynamic gas constraints,such as the line pack, and transmission contingencies in power and gas networks for studying the integrated system reliability. A Benders’ decomposition with linear programming techniques is developed to be able to study large systems. By including dynamic gas constraints into the SCUC, the proposed model accounts for the flexibility and reliability that power systems require from gas systems in the short term. Case studies of different size and complexity are employed to illustrate how the reliability of one system is affected by the reliability of the other. These experiments show how both systems operate in a secure way(by including contingencies) increases operating costs by approximately 9% and also show how these costs can vary by 24% depending on the line pack scheduling.

Micro-computed tomography can be applied for the assessment of the micro-architectural characteristics of the cortical and trabecular bones in either physiological or disease conditions. However, reports often lack a detailed description of the methodological steps used to analyse these images, such as the volumes of interest, the algorithms used for image filtration, the approach used for image segmentation, and the bone parameters quantified, thereby making it difficult to compare or reproduce the studies. This study addresses this critical need and aims to provide standardized assessment and consistent parameter reporting related to quantitative jawbone image analysis. Various regions of the rat jawbones were screened for their potential for standardized micro-computed tomography analysis. Furthermore, the volumes of interest that were anticipated to be most susceptible to bone structural changes in response to experimental interventions were defined. In the mandible, two volumes of interest were selected, namely, the condyle and the trabecular bone surrounding the three molars. In the maxilla, the maxillary tuberosity region and the inter-radicular septum of the second molar were considered as volumes of interest. The presented protocol provides a standardized and reproducible methodology for the analysis of relevant jawbone volumes of interest and is intended to ensure global, accurate, and consistent reporting of its morphometry. Furthermore, the proposed methodology has potential, as a variety of rodent animal models would benefit from its implementation.

The inflammatory pattern during Helicobacter pylori(***)infection is changeable and *** childhood,it is possible to observe a predominantly regulatory response,evidenced by high concentrations of key cytokines for the maintenance of Treg responses such as TGF-β1 and IL-10,in addition to high expression of the transcription factor *** the other hand,there is a predominance of cytokines associated with the Th1 and Th17 responses among ***-positive *** the last few years,the participation of the Th17 response in the gastric inflammation against *** infection has been highlighted due to the high levels of TGF-β1 and IL-17 found in this infectious scenario,and growing evidence has supported a close relationship between this immune response profile and unfavorable outcomes related to the ***,this cytokine profile might play a pivotal role in the effectiveness of *** *** is evident that age is one of the main factors influencing the gastric inflammatory pattern during the infection with ***,and understanding the immune response against the bacterium can assist in the development of alternative prophylactic and therapeutic strategies against the infection as well as in the comprehension of the pathogenesis of the outcomes related to that microorganism.

Background : The objective of this study was to validate an animal model for dry eye during and after the administration of 1% ophthalmic atropine sulfate(OAS) in New Zealand white(NZW) *** : OAS(1%) was applied three times per day to 30 eyes of 15 healthy NZW rabbits. Sacrifice, enucleation, and lacrimal gland removal took place on days 15, 21,and 30(OAS group). A second group(n = 5) was used as control. Clinical evaluations took place on days 3, 10, 15, 18, 21, 24 and 30. The primary endpoints were:Schirmer I test, tear break-up time(TBUT), and corneal fluorescein staining. As secondary endpoints, clinical changes including intraocular pressure, and histopathology were *** : While OAS was administered, the Schirmer I test showed a statistically significant reduction for OAS group versus control( p < 0.001), and versus basal production( p < 0.001). TBUT showed statistically significant differences between groups(days 3 and 10;p = 0.001) and versus basal values(day 3;p < 0.001). Fluorescein staining showed a statistically significant difference(day 3;p = 0.001). The most frequent clinical finding was conjunctival hyperemia(76.9% OAS vs. 20% control). For histopathology, all OAS subjects presented some degree of inflammation(86.7% minimal;13.3% mild) whereas the control presented only 30% minimal inflammation. Goblet cell density showed no *** : The effectiveness of the OAS dry eye model in NZW rabbits as reported in previous studies was confirmed, provided that the application of the drug is maintained throughout the intervention;it is not a viable model after OAS administration is suspended.

This study had the purpose of testingtwo methods for teaching grammar in Englishasa Foreign Language(EFL)class:the deductive and inductive approaches in terms of effectiveness and *** research was conducted in a public high school in *** students enrolled in the second year of senior high school *** in-service teacher taught the EFL classes during the process of intervention(10 weeks),and two EFL teachers observed all of these classes and recorded the information by filling in observation *** students were administered grammar pretests and post-tests in order to assess their grammar *** results of the tests showed a significant difference in the scores in favor of the inductive *** the statistical analysis of the data obtained from the tests and observation sheets,we concluded that the inductive approach is more effective for teaching grammar in the EFL classroom in terms of instruction and rapport.

Atypical chemokine receptors have recently emerged as important molecular players in health and diseases; they affect chemokine availability and function and impact a multitude of pathophysiological events, including the tumorigenesis process. This family of atypical receptors comprises five members: ACKR1/DARC, ACKR2/D6,ACKR3/CXCR7, ACKR4/CCRL1, and ACKR5/CCRL2. This work evaluated the differential expression of these receptors in prostate cancer using quantitative PCR. Further evaluation of CCRL2 at the protein level confirmed its overexpression in a metastatic cell line and in malignant prostatic tissues from patients. CCRL2, a presumed member of the atypical chemokine receptor family, plays a key role in lung dendritic cell trafficking to peripheral lymph *** studies have reported the expression of CCRL2 in different human cancer cell lines and tissues. However, its function and expression in prostate cancer has not been previously addressed.

A series of MgO-based adsorbents were prepared through solution–combustion synthesis and ball-milling *** prepared MgO-based powders were characterized using X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,N_2 physisorption measurements,and employed as potential adsorbents for CO_2 *** influence of structural and textural properties of these adsorbents over the CO_2 adsorption behaviour was also *** results showed that MgO-based products prepared by solution–combustion and ball-milling processes,were highly porous,fluffy,nanocrystalline structures in nature,which are unique physico-chemical properties that significantly contribute to enhance their CO_2 *** was found that the MgO synthesized by solution combustion process,using a molar ratio of urea to magnesium nitrate（2：1）,and treated by ball-milling during 2.5 hr（MgO-BM2.5h）,exhibited the maximum CO_2 adsorption capacity of 1.611 mmol/g at 25℃ and 1 atm,mainly via *** CO_2 adsorption behaviour on the MgO-based adsorbents was correlated to their improved specific surface area,total pore volume,pore size distribution and *** reusability of synthesized MgO-BM2.5h was confirmed by five consecutive CO_2adsorption–desorption times,without any significant loss of performance,that supports the potential of MgO-based *** results confirmed that the special features of MgO prepared by solution–combustion and treated by ball-milling during 2.5 hr are favorable to be used as effective MgO-based adsorbent in post-combustion CO_2 capture technologies.

Seminal characteristics and sexual behavior in men of different age groups： is there an aging effect？

Aim： To assess the seminal characteristics as well as the sexual behavior of men of various age groups to establish the presence of an aging effect on those characteristics. Methods： Semen samples were collected from men （n = 792） undergoing in vitro fertilization or intrauterine insemination in cases of female factor infertility only. Samples were collected using a seminal collection device at intercourse and evaluated manually according to World Health Organization （WHO） standards. Men were divided into four groups according to their ages：（i） 20-30, （ii） 31-40, （iii） 41-50 and （iv） 51-60 years, and their seminal characteristics and responses to a sexual behavior questionnaire were compared. Results： The data showed statistically significant differences in the seminal characteristics tested, most notably in the sperm concentration, motility, grade of motility, hypo-osmotic swelling and normal sperm morphology. Furthermore, the decline in normal sperm morphology with age was more pronounced when using strict criteria rather than WHO standards. There were also differences in total sperm count, total motile sperm and total functional sperm fraction （assessed by both WHO and strict criteria）. Significant differences were also observed in the sexual behavior patterns in older men in terms of the number of years they have been trying to conceive, sexual frequency and sexual satisfaction. Conclusion： The data clearly illustrate an aging effect on semen characteristics and sexual behavior in men as they age. It is suggested that the aging effect be taken into consideration when proposing normal standard values for semen characteristics in routine semen analysis as outlined by WHO standards.
