Drought is one of the major abiotic stresses often causing negative impacts on bean crops in the Andean region in Colombia. An experiment under the greenhouse conditions was carried out to assess the effect of a prolonged drought period(15 days) at two different phenological stages(vegetative or reproductive) on grain yield and yield components of five bush bean cultivars(ICA-Cerinza, Bachue, NUA35, Bianca, and Bacatá). Nine tolerance indices including stress susceptibility index(ssI), tolerance(TOL), mean productivity(MP), geometric mean productivity(GMP), stress tolerance index(sTI), yield stability index(YsI), yield index(YI), Harmonic mean(HM), and drought sensitivity index(DsI) were calculated based on grain yield under non-stressed(YP) and drought(Ys) conditions. Based on the different drought indices, genotypes ICA-Cerinza and NUA35 had the best performance under drought conditions in both studied phases, which reflected in a reduction of grain yield ~≤40%. The biplot analysis also showed a clear superiority of these two genotypes at both phenological stages. Results also showed that ssI was more effective to identify genotypes less affected by drought. The above results allowed us to conclude that ICA-Cerinza and NUA35 may be considered for agricultural areas where long periods of water deficit are expected and can be used in breeding programs for drought tolerance.

We consider the blow-up behavior of Hammerstein-type delay Volterra integral equations （DVIEs）. Two types of delays, i.e., vanishing delay （pantograph delay） and non-vanishing delay （constant delay）, are considered. With the same assumptions of Volterra integral equations （VIEs）, in a similar technology to VIEs, the blow-up conditions of the two types of DVIEs are given. The blow-up behaviors of DVIEs with non-vanishing delay vary with different initial functions and the length of the lag, while DVIEs with pantograph delay own the same blow-up behavior of VIEs. some examples and applications to delay differential equations illustrate this influence.

We propose a novel numerical approach for delay differential equations with vanishing proportional delays based on spectral methods. A Legendre-collocation method is employed to obtain highly accurate numerical approximations to the exact solution. It is proved theoretically and demonstrated numerically that the proposed method converges exponentially provided that the data in the are smooth. given pantograph delay differential equation

This paper gives an overview of phenomena associated with particles and bubbles in continuously cast steel. During steel processing from deoxidation to solidification the inclusion population undergoes changes with opportunities of removal. Flotation is an important separation mechanism. Inclusion particles may accumulate in the solidifying strand, thus forming enriched bands, which depend on the type of casting machine. Bubbles are created during inert gas injection. They also change in size, can float out, but also form accumulation bands. The interaction of bubbles and particles is discussed. Internal structure that recently has been observed on the inner surface of bubbles will be reviewed.

Inspired by recent significant agricultural yield losses in the eastern China and a missing operational monitoring system,we developed a comprehensive drought monitoring model to better understand the impact of individual key factors contributing to this *** resulting model,the‘Humidity calibrated Drought Condition Index’(HcDCI)was applied for the years 2001 to 2019 in form of a case study to Weihai County,shandong Province in East *** and development are based on a linear combination of the Vegetation Condition Index(VCI),the Temperature Condition Index(TCI),and the Rainfall Condition Index(RCI)using multi-source satellite data to create a basic Drought Condition Index(DCI).VCI and TCI were derived from MODIs(Moderate Resolution Imaging spectroradiometer)data,while precipitation is taken from CHIRPs(Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with station data)*** reasons of accuracy,the decisive coefficients were determined by the relative humidity of soils at depth of 10-20 cm of particular areas collected by an agrometeorological ground *** correlation between DCI and soil humidity was optimized with the factors of 0.53,0.33,and 0.14 for VCI,TCI,and RCI,*** model revealed,light agricultural droughts from 2003 to 2013 and in 2018,while more severe droughts occurred in 2001 and 2002,2014-2017,and *** droughts were most severe in January,March,and December,and our findings coincide with historical *** average temperature during 2012-2019 is 1℃ higher than that during the period 2001-2011 and the average precipitation during 2014-2019 is 192.77 mm less than that during *** spatio-temporal accuracy of the HcDCI model was positively validated by correlation with agricultural crop yield *** model thus,demonstrates its capability to reveal drought periods in detail,its transferability to other regions and its usefulness to take future measures.

Hybrid nucleic acid nanostructures partition architectural and functional roles between ribonucleic acid(RNA)joints and deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)*** self-assemble from nucleic acid modules through synergistic stabilization of marginally stable base pairing interactions within circularly closed ***,we report the development of hybrid nanoshapes that include multiple different RNA modules such as internal loop and three-way junction(3WJ)*** iterative mix-and-match screening approach was used to identify suitable DNA connectors that furnished stable nanoshapes for combinations of different RNA *** resulting complex multicomponent RNA-DNA hybrid nanoshapes were characterized by atomic force microscopy(AFM)*** research provides proof of concept for modular design,assembly and screening of RNA-DNA hybrid nanoshapes as building blocks for complex extended nucleic acid materials with features at the sub-10 nm scale.
