Thrapeutic equivalence in the treatment of hypertension:Can lercanidipine and nifedipine GITS be considered to be interchangeable?

AIm: To undertake a review of the evidence that nifedipine GITS and lercanidipine are therapeutically equivalent in the management of essential ***: A systematic review of the published literature was prompted by the findings of two meta-analyses which indicated that there was a lower incidence of peripheral(ankle) oedema with lercanidipine. However,neither meta-analysis gave detailed attention to comparative antihypertensive efficacy or cardiovascular protection. Accordingly,a systematic,detailed and critical review was undertaken of individual published papers. The review started with those studies incorporated into the 2 meta-analyses and then all other salient and directly relevant papers identified through the following search criteria: all randomized controlled trials in which the therapeutic profile and antihypertensive effects of lercanidipine were directly compared with those of nifedipine GITS(in hypertensive patients). The searchstrategy was focused on the reports of clinical trials of lercanidipine vs nifedipine GITS,which were identified through a systematic search of Pubmed(from 1966 to October 2012),Embase(from 1980 to October 2012) and the Cochrane library(from 1 October 2008 to end October 2013). The search combined terms related to lercanidipine vs nifedipine GITS(including meSH search using calcium antagonists,calcium channel blockers and dihydropyridines).RESUlTS: With regard to blood pressure(BP) control and the consistency of BP control throughout 24-h,there is l.mited published evidence. However,two studies using 24 h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring clearly identified the dose-dependency of BP lowering with lercanidipine and its variably sustained 24-h efficacy. In contrast,there is evidence of a consistent antihypertensive effect throughout 24 h with nifedipine GITS. Silver nanoparticles （AgNPs） were synthesised using equimolar concentrations of redtlcing agent vitamin C and AgCl precursor by simple precipitation method. The synthesised AgNPs were characterised by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, UV-Visible, photol.minescence and field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEm） analysis. The formation of AgNPs was confirmed by the typical surface plasmon resonance band at 426 nm. The presence of el.mental silver and pure crystalline face centre cubic （fcc） structure was confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis and XRD analysis, respectively. The FESEm images showed the formation of spherical AgNPs for lower concentrations （0.1 and 0.3 mol/l） while spike and flower shaped particles were formed for higher concentration. Photol.minescence characteristic band was observed with no shift at 390 nm indicating the stable nature of AgNPs. The antibacterial property of the AgNPs was tested against gram negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa by using Cissus quadrangular as a control and the result showed that vitamin C reduced AgNPs have good antibacterial activity.

In a non-static information exchange network,routing is an overly com-plex task to perform,which has to satisfy all the needs of the *** Deﬁned Network(SDN)is the latest and widely used technology in the future communication networks,which would provide smart routing that is visible *** various features of routing are supported by the information centric network,which minimizes the congestion in the dataﬂow in a network and pro-vides the content awareness through its mined *** to the advantages of the information centric network,the concepts of the information-centric net-work has been used in the paper to enable an optimal routing in the software-deﬁned *** there are many advantages in the information-centric network,there are some disadvantages due to the non-static communication prop-erties,which affects the routing in *** this regard,artiﬁcial intelligence meth-odology has been used in the proposed approach to solve these difﬁculties.A detailed analysis has been conducted to map the content awareness with deep learning and deep reinforcement learning with *** novel aligned internet investigation technique has been proposed to process the deep reinforcement *** performance evaluation of the proposed systems has been con-ducted among various existing approaches and results in optimal load balancing,usage of the bandwidth,and maximization in the throughput of the network.

Fatigue properties of the Ti-6.5Al-3.5mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si alloy sheets containing different numbers of α/β Widmansttten colonies in the thickness direction of the sheets were investigated by tensionetension fatigue testing. It is found that fatigue properties of the Ti alloy either in low- or high-stress amplitude regimes become more sensitive to the sheet thickness of the Ti alloy as the sheet thickness is comparable to the length scale of the Widmansttten colonies. The basic mechanism of such length scale-sensitive fatigue properties in the Ti alloy was elucidated.

The recent publication of spatial and distance variation of the fine-structure constant, α, derived from astronomical data of quasar emissions (QE) is exciting. The decreasing value of α over time, derived from data obtained from the Very large Telescope (VlT) in Chile, encourages the search for other possible running constants. We surmise that emissions from distant supernovae, type Ia (SNe Ia), which are more blue than predictions are best explained by a decreasing Planck constant with increasing lookback time. We present some results from our theoretical work and comparison to the astronomical observations and suggest that both α and h might be running constants. more data are required to answer several questions about the origin of the "drifting" α and the possible time dependence of h. Astronomical tools such as SNe and QE may be the best means to secure the exacting data needed to confirm or deny these hypotheses.

Areas,such as coastal eastern Gulf of maine(GOm),perceived to have low density of target fish species and having high density fixed gear,are often subject to low fishing pressure and not well *** can lead to a shortage of information regarding the fine scale dynamics of groundfish *** surveys are commonly developed for such areas with little monitoring and commercial fishing activity as a cost effective way to collect relevant data for monitoring the dynamics of fish *** this study,we outline an approach that utilizes information from other survey programs and pilot study for designing a survey that satisfies both the wish of fishermen participants to contribute their knowledge and experience in determining groundfish abundance and distribution and the statistical rigor required for stock *** an analysis of spatial and density distribution of groundfish populations based on data from pilot seasons of the sentinel survey and other monitoring programs,we designed a survey that has good spatial and temporal coverage and captures the spatial variability in species composition and size structure of key *** spatially explicit data collected in the program can contribute to a better understanding of groundfish stock status in the eastern *** approach,although developed for the coastal eastern GOm,is also applicable to other areas with similar issues.

A new type of hybrid discharge is experimentally investigated in this work. A helicon source and an electron cyclotron resonance（ECR） source were combined to produce plasma. As a prel.minary study of this type of plasma, the optical emission spectroscopy（OES） method was used to obtain values of electron temperature and density under a series of typical conditions. Generally,it was observed that the electron temperature decreases and the electron density increases as the pressure increased. When increasing the applied power at a certain pressure, the average electron density at certain positions in the discharge does not increase significantly possibly due to the high degree of neutral depletion. Electron temperature increased with power in the hybrid *** mechanisms of these prel.minary observations are discussed.

Exogenous enzymes as alternatives to feed antibiotics in poultry has become an emerging research area with the emergence of antibiotic *** objective was to evaluate the effects of diet medication(antibiotics)andβ-glucanase(BGase)on digesta solubleβ-glucan depol.merization,carbohydrate fermentation,and performance of coccidiosis-vaccinated broiler chickens fed wheat-based diets.A total of 1,782 broilers were raised on litter floor pens,and each treatment was assigned to 1 pen in each of the9 *** 3 dietary treatments were based on wheat as the sole grain(control,control.medication and control+0.1%BGase),and the birds were fed the respective treatments ad libitum from 0 to 33 *** were arranged in a randomized complete block design and analyzed as a one-way ***-glucanase reduced the peak molecular weight,weight average molecular weight(mw)and maximum molecular weight for the smallest 10%β-glucan molecules(mW-10%)in ileal digesta at d 11and 33,whereas diet medication reduced mw and mW-10%at d 33 compared to the control(Plucanase and medication reduced the ileal viscosity at d 11 compared to the control(P=0.010).Ileal propionic acid concentration at d 11 and caecal total SCFA,acetic,and butyric acid concentrations at d 33 were lower in the BGase-suppl.mented diet than in the control(Pl p H compared to the control at d 33(P=0.026).The effect of medication on carbohydrate fermentation was *** medication increased weight gain after d 11,whereas BGase increased the gain for the total trial period compared to the control(Pmproved feed efficiency after d 11 compared to the control(Pmedication was larger than BGase,considering weight gain and feed efficiency after d 11(Plusion,diet medication and BGase depol.merized high molecular weight ileal solubleβ-g

Network simulation method（NSm） is used to solve the l.minar heat and mass transfer of an electricallyconducting,heat generating/absorbing fluid past a perforated horizontal surface in the presence of viscous and Joule heating probl.m. The governing partial differential equations are non-dimensionalized and transformed into a system of nonlinear ordinary differential similarity equations,in a single independent variable,畏. The resulting coupled,nonlinear equations are solved under appropriate transformed boundary conditions. Computations are performed for a wide range of the governing flow parameters,viz Prandtl number,thermophoretic coeffcient（a function of Knudsen number）,thermal conductivity parameter,wall transpiration parameter and Schmidt number. The numerical details are discussed with relevant applications. The present probl.m finds applications in optical fiber fabrication,aerosol filter precipitators,particle deposition on hydronautical blades,semiconductor wafer design,thermo-electronics and probl.ms including nuclear reactor safety.
