Natural product is one of the sources of drugs in pharmaceutical industry,and one of the notable origin of natural product is the medicinal *** plants tend to cure some certain diseases and could be a source for potential *** Department of Health of the Philippines approved 10 medicinal plants namely Allium sativum(Garlic/Bawang),Blumea balsamifera(Nagal camphor/sambong),Cassia alata(Ringworm bush/akapulko),Clinopodium douglasii(Mint/yerba Buena),Ehretia microphylla(Scorpion bush/Tsaang Gubat),Momordica charantia(Bitter Melon/Ampalaya),Peperomia pellucida(Silver bush/ulasimang Bato),Psidium guajava(Guava/Bayabas),Quisqualis indica(Rangoon creeper/niyug-niyogan),and Vitex negundo(Five-leaved Chaste Tree/lagundi).The review was conducted to show that these medicinal plants are capable in treating infections and some *** was found that Allium sativum for the treatmet of wounds,hypertension and tootache;Blumea balsimifera is effective in diuretic treatment for hypertension;Cassia alata for the treatment of scabies,fungal infection,athlete’s foot,tinea flava,ringworm;Clinopodium douglasii for the treatment of muscle pain,arthritis,rheumatism,cough,headache;Ehretia microphylla for the treatment of diarrhea and stomachache;Momordica charantia for the treatment of diabetes mellitus;Peperomia pellucida for the treatment of gout and rheumatism;Psidium guajava for the treatment of wounds and diarrhea;Quisqualis indica for anti-helmintic medicine;and Vitex negundo for the treatment of cough,asthma,and *** conclusion,these 10 medicinal plants have natural products that can be used as source for potential ***,there are still many species of ethnobotanical plants that are not yet investigated thoroughly and might be a source for potential ***,more investigations should be done in other species of plant,most especially for the plants with practical used.

Shear wave velocity model using HVSR inversion beneath Bandar Lampung City

Characterization and Assessment of the Quality of the Water and Sediments of the Islands (Moudou and Birguime) of Lake Fitri in Chad and Confirmation of the Strains Isolated by the PCR Method

The problem of access to quality water is a major challenge, as it has a major impact on the socio-economic conditions of people in developing countries. The water from the islands of Lake Fitri is one of the main sources of drinking water for the population. The aim of this study is to characterise and assess the quality of the water and sediment from the islands (Moudou and Birguime) of Lake Fitri, and to confirm the strains isolated using the PCR method. A total of fifty (50) samples of water and fifty (50) sediments from the islands of Lake Fitri were analyzed. Standard methods of microbiological and biochemical analysis of water and sediments were used. Isolated Enterobacteriaceae strains were characterized by API 20 E and API Staph galleries and Salmonella was confirmed by PCR method. Antibiotic resistance was determined using a technique recommended by the antibiogram committee of the French microbiology society (CA-SFM, 2019). The microbiological results for the water showed an abundance of total aerobic mesophilic flora (TAMF) (4.31 × 106 ± 8.05 × 105 and 5.29 × 106 ± 2.55 × 105) on the Birguime and Moudou islands successively. The microbiological results for the sediment from Birguime and Moudou islands showed an abundance of thermotolerant coliforms (E. coli) (2.05 × 105 ± 5.43 × 104 and 2.27 × 105 ± 3.49 × 104) alternately. The results obtained after incubation of the biochemical tests by the API 20E, API Staph gallery and their numerical profile proposed by the Api software confirmed the contamination. The antibiogram results showed the emergence of certain resistances to the antibiotics Tobramycin, Flucytosine, Amikacin and Teicoplani. The PCR results for Salmonella spp strains were confirmed. As a result, strict monitoring of the water on the various islands of Lake Fitri must be carried out throughout the annual cycle, by specialized personnel, to ensure proper bio-monitoring of these ecosystems.

Current industrial methods for dissolution of cellulose in making regenerated cellulose products are relatively expensive,toxic and dangerous and have environmental problems coming with the hazard chemical *** solve these problems,a novel ethylenediamine and potassium thiocyanate(ED/KSCN)solvent system was developed,that is economical,ecofriendly,and highly *** ED/KSCN solvent system was proven to be a suitable solvent for fabricating cellulose(blended with other polymers)*** this study,gluten was used to develop nonporous membranes with *** method of casting these membranes provided better ones than the former researchers’*** composite membranes’physical and mechanical properties were studied by analysis of morphology,viscosity,crystallinity,thermal behaviors,tensile properties and water absorption of *** showed that membranes are nonporous,uniform,strong,flexible,ecofriendly and *** and physical properties were influenced by the ratio of cellulose/*** blending 40% gluten,the tensile strength of cellulose membrane dropped to 15.89 MPa from 35.11 ***,its elongation at break increased from 35.3% to 57.02% accordingly.

为了提高Savonius型(S型)叶轮的消波性能,提出一种S型叶轮阵列装置。通过试验记录不同的叶轮间距和叶轮相对入水深度等5个参数下波浪经过叶轮阵列后的透射系数K_(t),建立基于粒子群优化(PSO)算法和反向传播(BP)神经网络的S型叶轮阵列消波性能预测模型。将采用该模型与采用BP网络模型和GA-BP网络模型得到的平均绝对误差、均方根误差和决定系数R^(2)指标进行对比,结果表明,采用PSO-BP神经网络模型优化能得到误差更小、更精准的预测结果。当相邻叶轮间距分别为0.62 m和0.41 m、各叶轮入水深度分别为0.15 m、0.18 m和0.19 m时,S型叶轮阵列具有相对最佳的消波性能。

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis(HLH)is an uncommon,potentially life threatening,hyper inflammatory syndrome of diverse *** signs include prolonged fever,organomegaly,and persistent unexplained *** spite of the well known diagnostic criteria put forth by HLH society,this continues to pose great diagnostic challenge in both pediatric and adult intensive care *** describe 4 adult(2 males,2 females,aged 19,29,40,and 17 years)and 3 pediatric(2 males,1female,aged 1 month,6 months,and 12 years)patients with secondary HLH who satisfied the HLH-2004 diagnostic *** evidence of hemophagocytosis was noted in 4 patients on initial bone marrow *** underlying etiologies were as follows:Rickettsia tsutsugamushi(case 1),autoimmune disorder(case 2),systemic onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis(sJIA)(case 3),unknown bite(possibly a venomous snake)(case 4),Plasmodium vivax(case 5),Cytomegalo virus(case 6),and Mycobacterium tuberculosis(case 7).In one patient,hemophagocytosis was presumed to have been exacerbated by administration of granulocyte monocyte colony stimulating factor(GM-CSF)for severe *** patients died with disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC)and multi organ failure within few days of HLH *** therapy was started in 3 patients,and etoposide was started in one patient *** to lack of specificity of diagnostic criteria,diagnosing and differentiating HLH from its closest mimickers like sepsis/septic shock may be quite challenging in critically ill ***,increasing awareness among physicians is essential for early diagnosis and effective therapy to reduce the mortality.

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis： an interesting case report with systematic review of Indian literature

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a rare disease characterized by intra-alveolar presence of microliths. This study reports an interesting case of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis and provides a systematic review of cases reported from India. A 23-year-old female presented with a history of cough, wheeze, chest pain, and episodic wheeze for five months. Pulmonary function tests demonstrated an obstructive pattern, and chest X- ray showed fine micronodular opacities predominantly involving the middle and lower zones of both lungs. Transbronchial lung biopsy revealed the diagnosis. She responded well to inhaled steroid therapy. A systematic review of literature was performed and identified 73 cases of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis reported from India. The mean （SD） age of the patients was 28.8 （14.9） years, with an almost equal male：female ratio. Many patients were asymptomatic at presentation. Breathlessness and cough were the most common symptoms, and the disease progressed into respiratory failure associated with cor pulmonale. About one-third of the cases were initially misdiagnosed and treated as pulmonary tuberculosis. Extra-pulmonary manifestations and co- morbidities were also evident in our series. This systematic review helps to determine epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis. Further research is needed to elucidate the etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapeutic options, which are beneficial in developing and identifying cost- effective treatment for pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis.

Groundwater exploration using integrated geophysics method in hard rock terrains in Mount Betung Western Bandar Lampung,Indonesia

The presence of hard rock in Mount Betung has caused the misalignment of the groundwater aquifers,and resulted in many drilling failures for *** integrated geophysics method using gravity survey and Geoelectric Vertical Electrical Soundings(VES)were conducted to study the effect of basement and hard rock on groundwater *** the gravity method,38 mapping points were carried out randomly,with a distance of 1-2 km ***,from the geoelectric method,51 VES points were acquired at the foot of Mount *** acquisition was conducted with a Schlumberger configuration with AB/2=1 m to 250 *** results show the Bouguer Anomaly in the west is 50-68 mgal due to the presence of hard rock in Mount *** anomaly responds to relatively shallow hard rocks near *** rocks composed of andesite and breccia normally present at the depth of 5-180 m during well *** isopach mapping from VES data(at AB/2=50 m,100 m,and 150 m)shows the dominant constituents of hard *** in hard rock contribute to secondary porosity,which could be a prospect zone that transmit *** finding shows that the fractures are randomly scattered,causing several well failures that have been ***,the fractures in the hard rock at the foot of Mount Betung acts as conduits between recharge at Mount Betung and the aquifer in the Bandar Lampung Basin.
