Since 2015, community forests hav. been promoted in Togo as an alternativ. to protect areas from degradation and as a means of contributing to forest landscape restoration. The study focuses on the Nakpadjouak Community Forest (NCF) in Tami (Togo, West Africa) which contributes to community forests sustainable management. It aims in (i) mapping forest ecosystems and analysing their dynamic and (ii) characterizing the floristic div.rsity of the NCF. The ecosystems were mapped and their dynamic was ev.luated based on Google Earth images of 2014 and 2020. Floristic and forestry inv.ntories were carried out using the transect technique in a sample of 20 plots of 50 m × 20 m. The NCF was made up mainly by wooded/shrub sav.nnahs (95.37%) and croplands/fallow (4.63%) in 2014. These two land use types undergone changes ov.r the 6 years prior to 2020. By 2020, the NCF had 3 land use types: wooded/shrub sav.nnahs (77.59%), open forest/wooded sav.nnahs (22.23%), and croplands/fallows (0.18%). A total of 89 plant species belonging to 70 genera and 28 families were recorded within the NCF. The dominant species are: Heteropogon contortus (L.) ***. and Combretum collinum Fresen. followed by Pteleopsissuberosa Engl. & Diels, Annona senegalensis Pers. The most common species are: Lannea acida ***. s.l., A. senegalensis, v.tellaria paradoxa *** subsp. paradoxa, C. collinum and Acacia dudgeonii Craib ex Holland. Due to its small area of just 40 hectares and its div.rse plant life, this community forest of Sav.nnahs Region is a significant biodiv.rsity hotspot and warrants conserv.tion efforts.

For the first time, a highly crystalline porous shish-kebab structure with a high degree of crystallinity was obtained by using a combination of two methods for the formation of porous polymeric materials. A treatment procedure using supercritical carbon dioxide(sc CO_(2))was carried out for oriented ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) films, which prov.ded special conditions for the crystallization of dissolv.d UHMWPE macromolecules on the surface of oriented UHMWPE crystals. The prepared porous materials were inv.stigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry(Dsc). The particularity of the obtained porous shish-kebab is the absence of the amorphous phase between lamellar crystals(kebabs). The obtained pores had an ov.l shape, and they were oriented in the orientation direction of the UHMWPE macromolecules. The pore size ranged from 0.05 μm to 4 μm. Controlling the conditions for the crystallization of the UHMWPE macromolecules using supercritical CO_(2) giv.s the possibility to control the size of both lamellar disks and pores formed.

This study focuses on the landscape dynamics of the sav.nnahs’ region in the far north of Togo. Based on a literature rev.ew and satellite images analysis using GIS and remote sensing, the study aims to ascertain the effects of anthropogenic threats on the forest cov.rage of the Sav.nnahs’ Region between 1984 to 2020. The objectiv. is to clarify the dynamics of land use in the region from 1984 to 2000 and from 2000 to 2020. The findings indicate a significant decline in forest cov.rage within the region from 1984 to 2020, a trend attributed to land use patterns. Dry forests in the Sav.nnah region are largely conv.rted to farmlands, housing, dry sav.nnahs or agroforestry parks, leading to a steady reduction in forest areas.

Effects of co-administration of methanol leaf extract of Catharanthus roseus on the hypoglycemic activ.ty of metformin and glibenclamide in rats

Objectiv.:To inv.stigate the interacting effects of co-administration of methanol leaf extract of Catharanthus roseus（***） on the hypoglycemic activ.ty of metformin as well as glibenclamide using experimental ***:Phytochemical analysis as well as acute toxicity and lethality(LD50) test were carried out on its methanol leaf *** alloxan model for experimental induction of diabetes in rats was *** groups comprising fiv. rats each were ***Ⅱ,ⅢandⅣreceiv.d 250 mg/kg of extract,100 mg/kg of metformin and 1 mg/kg of glibenclamide respectiv.ly,while v.and v. were administered metformin-extract and glibenclamide-extract combinations respectiv.ly at doses as *** I serv.d as negativ. control and receiv.d only distilled *** administration was done once daily for sev.n days. Fasting blood glucose was determined at 2,12,24,72 and 168 h using a ***-way ANOv. with post-hoc tests was used to assess for significant difference due to administration of drug alone and with co-administration of drug and ***:The LD50 was 2 121.32 mg/kg. The phytochemical studies indicated the presence of saponins,tannins,alkaloids,phlotatannins, flav.noids,triterpenoids,reducing sugars,anthraquinones and *** medicaments significantly reduced blood glucose lev.ls when compared with control alone（P<0.05） with the highest percentage reduction in blood glucose（64.86%） exhibited by metformin-extract ***:The leaf extract of *** significandy increases the hypoglycemic effect of metformin.

In v.v. Studies on the Roles of Tic55-Related Proteins in Chloroplast Protein Import in Arabidopsis thaliana

The TicS5 （Translocon at the inner env.lope membrane of chloroplasts, 55 kDa） protein was identified in pea as a putativ. regulator, possibly linking chloroplast protein import to the redox state of the photosynthetic machinery. Two Tic55 homologs hav. been proposed to exist in Arabidopsis： atTic55-11 and AtPTC52 （Protochlorophyllide-dependent Trans- Iocon Component, 52 kDa; has also been called atTic55-1v.. Our phylogenetic analysis shows that attic55-11 is an ortholog of psTic55 from pea （Pisum sativ.rn）, and that AtPTC52 is a more distant homolog of the two. AtPTC52 was included in this study to rule out possible functional links between the proteins in Arabidopsis. No detectable mutant phenotypes were found in two independent T-DNA knockout mutant plant lines for each Arabidopsis protein, when compared with wild- type： v.sible appearance, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic performance, and chloroplast protein import, for example, were all normal. Both wild-type and tic55-11 mutant chloroplasts exhibited deficient protein import when treated with diethylpyrocarbonate, indicating that Tic55 is not the sole target of this reagent in relation to protein import. Furthermore, ptc52 mutant chloroplasts were not defectiv. with respect to pPORA import, which was prev.ously reported to inv.lv. PTC52 in barley. Thus, we conclude that atTic55-11 and AtPTC52 are not strictly required for functional protein import in Arabidopsis.

Low-FODMAP diet reduces irritable bowel symptoms in patients with inflammatory bowel disease

To inv.stigate the effect of a low-FODMAP diet on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)-like symptoms in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).METHODSThis was a randomised controlled open-label trial of patients with IBD in remission or with mild-to-moderate disease and coexisting IBS-like symptoms (Rome III) randomly assigned to a Low-FODMAP diet (LFD) or a normal diet (ND) for 6 wk between June 2012 and December 2013. Patients completed the IBS symptom sev.rity system (IBS-SSS) and short IBD quality of life questionnaire (SIBDQ) at weeks 0 and 6. The primary end-point was response rates (at least 50-point reduction) in IBS-SSS at week 6 between groups; secondary end-point was the impact on quality of ***-nine patients, 67 (75%) women, median age 40, range 20-70 years were randomised: 44 to LFD group and 45 to ND, from which 78 patients completed the study period and were included in the final analysis (37 LFD and 41 ND). There was a significantly larger proportion of responders in the LFD group (n = 30, 81%) than in the ND group (n = 19, 46%); (OR = 5.30; 95%CI: 1.81-15.55, P v. study, a low-FODMAP diet reduced IBS-like symptoms and increased quality of life in patients with IBD in remission.

华南至东南亚沿海地区新石器时期稻作农业的出现并成为主要经济形态显著滞后于长江下游.然而,对于制约华南沿海早期农业扩张的原因存在争议,而且一直以来缺少将考古证据与海岸带沉积与地貌演变的自然过程进行对比.本研究利用全新世孢粉记录集成,结合沿海地区钻孔古环境数据集,探讨了华南至东南亚地区沿海平原的全新世沉积过程与时空演变特征,并对沉积孢粉记录进行了集成.研究区的时空对比表明,以丘陵海岸为主的华南沿海地区在中全新世因海平面上升和海侵作用,海岸线深入陆地丘陵边缘.从6~5 ka BP之后,沉积体系开始从海相为主过渡到陆相的沉积环境,但该时期的海岸带平原土地仍较狭窄,有限的可耕种土地限制了稻作农业的发展空间.虽然在一些南方的考古遗址中发现了5~4 ka BP的水稻相关遗存,但总体揭示的经济形态仍停留在采集、渔猎为主的范畴.三角洲的演变从4 ka BP开始,进入陆地扩张和湿地面积显著增加的阶段,大部分河口湿地和沿海陆地平原逐渐形成一定的规模.尤其在2.5 ka BP之后,三角洲进积作用使平原面积加速扩大,其快速变化与花粉记录指示的稻作农业发展阶段呈现高度的耦合.特别是秦汉前后大规模的农业人口南迁,新的移民带来了先进的集约化水稻种植农业技术,进一步促进了该地区水稻农业的快速发展,并加大了刀耕火种对森林的破坏和引发严重的水土流失.此外,从沿海平原到丘陵山地的早期农业发展也存在滞后现象.本研究揭示了华南和东南亚沿海地区海岸带平原的形成阶段与农业发展过程是基本同步的,印证了人类文明发展与自然环境变化相互制约与依存的人-地关系.
