Worldwide,as the population age,osteoporosis is becoming increasingly common,and osteoporotic fractures have a significant economic *** women are the most susceptible to developing osteoporosis and the most critical time to prevent it is during the perimenopausal and early menopausal *** this regard,we hypothesize rational combination of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)in the form of herbal extract could prevent osteoporosis in *** deficiency during menopause causes low-level inflammation that stimulates the formation of osteoclasts,the boneresorbing cells,and simultaneously inhibits the viability and function of osteoblasts,the bone-forming *** most potent inflammatory cytokine in skeletal homeostasis is the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand(RANKL)that stimulates osteoclast ***,the canonical Wnt pathway is essential for osteoblastogenesis and bone formation,and estrogen deficiency leads to diminished functioning of this *** and acupuncture could target the RANKL and the Wnt pathway in favorable ways to prevent the accelerated bone loss experienced during the early menopausal stage and promote the gain in bone mass in postmenopausal *** this review,we propose a rational combination of specific TCM and acupuncture targeting those signaling molecules/pathways by the drugs that are in clinical use for the treatment of postmenopausal *** rational approach revealed that Danshen(Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae)could exert a synergistic effect with *** then propose a translational path for developing the putative combination in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis to curtail the risk of osteoporotic fractures.

Seawater electrolysis,especially in coastlines,is widely considered as a sustainable way of making clean and high-purity H2 from renewable energy;however,the practical viability is challenged severely by the limited anode durability resulting from side reactions of chlorine ***,we report an effective Cl−blocking barrier of NiFe-layer double hydroxide(NiFe-LDH)to harmful chlorine chemistry during alkaline seawater oxidation(ASO),a pre-formed surface-derived NiFe-phosphate(Pi)***,the PO_(4)^(3−)-enriched outer-layer is capable of physically and electrostatically inhibiting Cl−adsorption,which protects active Ni^(3+)sites during *** NiFe-LDH with the NiFe-Pi outer-layer(NiFe-LDH@NiFe-Pi)exhibits higher current densities(j)and lower overpotentials to afford 1 A·cm^(−2)(η1000 of 370 mV versusη1000 of 420 mV)than the NiFe-LDH in 1 M KOH+***,the NiFe-LDH@NiFe-Pi also demonstrates longer-term electrochemical durability than NiFe-LDH,attaining 100-h duration at the j of 1 A·cm^(−2).Additionally,the importance of surface-derived PO_(4)^(3−)-enriched outer-layer in protecting the active centers,γ-NiOOH,is explained by ex situ characterizations and in situ electrochemical spectroscopic studies.

Yuzaoea gen. nov., a new biraphid diatom(Bacillariophyceae)genus and its phylogenetic significance

The flexed frustules in pennate diatoms are usually associated with monoraphid diatoms. Interestingly, we found a biraphid diatom species with flexed frustules in an offshore intertidal beach environment on Weizhou Island,Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. Therefore, based on morphological characteristics, we described a new genus of diatoms Yuzaoea sinensis gen. et sp. nov. CH Li, HH Liu, YH Gao & CP Chen. The frustule of this genus is characterized by heterogeneous frustule with one concave valve and one convex valve,complete raphe on both valves, straight and moderately eccentric raphe, uniseriate striae and girdle bands with a single row of areolae. The most identifying feature of this genus was the flexed frustule, which is rare in biraphid diatoms and common in monoraphid diatoms. We compared the morphometric characteristics of genus Yuzaoea with genus Rhoikoneis and several genera within the family Rhoicospheniaceae, including Rhoicosphenia,Campylopyxis, and Cuneolus. Phylogenetic analyses based on SSU rRNA and rbc L showed that the genus Yuzaoea was the sister group to the clade of Rhoicosphenia with a high support value(bootstrap values = 100%), and the clade “Yuzaoea+Rhoicosphenia” was sister to the clade of monoraphid diatoms, in which the genera Achnanthidium, Planothidium and some Cocconeis with high support values(bootstrap = 100%).Morphologically, the genus Yuzaoea shares many morphological features with monoraphid diatoms like genera Achnanthidium and Planothidium and the members within the Rhoicospheniaceae. Therefore, based on a combined morphological studies and phylogenetic results we suggested that this branch may represented the evolution of one kind monoraphid diatoms, from biraphid diatoms(e.g. genus Yuzaoea), to incompleted biraphid diatoms(e.g. genera Rhoicosphenia, Campylopyxis), to monoraphid diatoms(e.g. genera Achnanthidium and Planothidium).

Locoregional recurrence and distant metastasis of breast cancer still pose a significant risk for patients’*** address the clinical challenge,functional absorbable sponges(HA-SH/PP-Dox/Lap/COL I(HCNPs))were constructed by biomimetic extracellular matrix of collagen I/hyaluronic acid complex conjugated with doxorubicin/lapatinib(Dox/Lap)-loaded *** HCNPs sponge exhibited excellent clotting ability and blood absorption ***,Dox/Lap-loaded nanoparticles were synchronously endowed with a large number of oligo hyaluronic acid segments after degradation,which thus enhanced the ability of targeting into CD44-overexpressed tumor *** implantable HCNPs sponge in resected cavity of postoperative 4T1 models inhibited the spread of scattered tumor cells by absorbing the inevitable *** importantly,CD44 targeted nanoparticle with suitable Dox/Lap proportion continuously released from sponge to kill tumor cells of surrounding HCNPs and those remaining at surgical margin,thus prevented local recurrence as well as distant ***,the functional HCNPs sponge might provide a safer and more effective strategy for postoperative treatment of cancer.

Modulation of phase boundary and domain structures to engineer strain properties in BNT-based ferroelectrics

Bismuth sodium titanate(BNT)ceramics exhibit outstanding strain responses but are unfavorable for application in high-sensitivity displacement actuators due to the large negative strain resulting from irreversible changes in their phase transition and domain ***,(1−x)Bi_(0.50)Na_(0.41)K_(0.09)TiO_(3)-xNaNbO_(3)(BNKT−xNN)solid solutions were prepared to improve the strain properties through the strategy of modulating the phase boundary and domain *** introduction of sodium niobate could effectively regulate the relative content of the tetragonal(P4bm)and rhombohedral(R3c)phases in the phase boundary *** ferroelectric-to-relaxor phase transition(TF−R)was reduced,and the ergodic relaxor(ER)state was nurtured at room *** zero-negative strain properties of S=0.41%and d33*=742 pm/V were achieved from the reversible transition between the ER and ferroelectric states under an applied electric field(x=0.04).Additionally,understanding the domain states via piezoelectric force microscopy(PFM)and firstorder reversal curve(FORC)revealed that the superior strain responses originated from the reversible inter-transformation of substable macrodomains and polar nanoregions(PNRs)in the phase *** study provides new insight into the interplay between the evolution of phase boundaries and domain structures and the strain properties of BNT-based ceramics.

Synthesis,structure,and thermal expansion in CaZrF6 with two polymorphs

Due to the high structural flexibility and controllable thermal expansion,cubic double ReO_(3)-type negative thermal expansion(NTE)fluorides provide a solution for solving the prominent phenomenon of thermal expansion mismatch between ***,the expensive raw materials and complex synthesis steps limit its practical *** this work,we have designed a more advantageous method for the synthesis of NTE material CaZrF6,and it is expected to be generalized to the synthesis of other double ReO_(3)-***,a new orthorhombic phase CaZrF6 has been synthesized via this method in a lower *** the strong isotropic NTE of the cubic phase CaZrF6,the orthorhombic phase shows the strong anisotropic positive thermal expansion(PTE).The combined analysis of temperature-dependent X-ray diffraction(XRD),Raman spectra,and first-principles calculations shows that the low frequency phonon vibration mode with negative Grüneisen parameter in cubic CaZrF6 are strongly correlated with the transverse thermal vibration of F atoms and dominates the NTE of the material.

Tortuosity regulation of two-dimensional nanofluidic films for water evaporation-induced electricity generation

Water evaporation-induced electricity generation is a promising technology for renewable energy ***,the output power of some reported two-dimensional(2D)nanofluidic films is still restricted by the relatively weak water–solid interactions within the tortuous *** further enhance the comprehension and utilization of water–solid interactions,it is of utmost importance to conduct an in-depth investigation and propose a regulatory concept encompassing ion ***,we propose tortuosity regulation of 2D nanofluidic titanium oxide(Ti_(0.8)7O_(2))films to optimize the ion transport within the interlayer nanochannel for enhanced efficiency in water evaporation-induced electricity generation for the first *** significance of tortuosity in ion transport is elucidated by designing three 2D nanofluidic films with different *** analysis and in situ Raman measurement demonstrate that low tortuosity can facilitate the formation of efficient pathways for hydrated proton transport and promote water–solid ***,devices fabricated with the optimized 2D nanofluidic films exhibited a significantly enhanced output power density of approximately 204.01μW·cm^(−2),far exceeding those prepared by the high-tortuosity 2D nanofluidic *** work highlights the significance of the construction of low tortuosity channels for 2D nanofluidic films with excellent performance.

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that originate from smooth muscle cells of the *** is the most common gynecological disorder,affecting up to 80%of women of reproductive *** fibroids can cause various symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding,pelvic pain,infertility,and pregnancy *** treatment options for uterine fibroids include medical therapy,surgical intervention,and minimally invasive *** To compare ovarian function of women with uterine fibroids who did or did not undergo uterine artery embolization(UAE).METHODS This prospective cohort study enrolled 87 women with symptomatic uterine fibroids who underwent UAE,and 87 women with the same symptoms who did not undergo UAE but received conservative management or other *** two groups were matched for age,body mass index,parity,and baseline characteristics of uterine *** primary outcome was ovarian function that was evaluated by serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),estradiol(E2),and anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH),as well as ovarian reserve tests,such as antral follicle count(AFC)and ovarian volume(OV).The secondary outcome was fertility that was evaluated based on the menstrual cycle,ovulation,conception,pregnancy,and *** participants were followed-up for 36 months and assessed at 1,3,6,12,24,and 36 months after *** The study found that the most common minor complication of UAE was postembolization syndrome in 73.6% of women,resolving within a *** significant differences were observed between the UAE group and the control group in serum levels of reproductive hormones(FSH,LH,E2,AMH)and ovarian reserve indicators(AFC,OV)at any point up to 36 months ***,there were no significant differences in conception,pregnancy,or delivery rates,with the average time to conception and gestational age at delivery being similar between the two *** weights were also ***

We study the structural and dynamical properties of A209 based on Chandra and XMM-Newton *** obtain detailed temperature,pressure,and entropy maps with the contour binning method,and find a hot region in the NW *** X-ray brightness residual map and corresponding temperature profiles reveal a possible shock front in the NW direction and a cold front feature in the SE *** with the galaxy luminosity density map we propose a weak merger scenario.A young sub-cluster passing from the SE to NW direction could explain the optical subpeak,the intracluster medium temperature map,the X-ray surface brightness excess,and the X-ray peak offset together.
