Experimental Investigation on Prototype Latent Heat Thermal Battery Charging and Discharging Function Integrated with Solar Collector

This paper reports the performance investigation of a newly developed Latent Heat Thermal Battery(LHTB)integrated with a solar collector as the main source of *** LHTB is a new solution in the field of thermal storage and developed based on the battery concept in terms of recharge ability,portability and usability as a standalone *** is fabricated based on the thermal battery storage concept and consists of a plate-fin and tube heat exchanger located inside the battery casing and paraffin wax which is used as a latent heat storage *** thermal energy is absorbed by solar collector and transferred to the LHTB using water as Heat Transfer Fluid(HTF).Charging experiments have been conducted with a HTF at three different temperatures of 68°C,88°C and 108°C and three different flow rates of 30,60 and 120 l/*** is followed by discharging experiments on fully charged LHTB at three different temperatures of 68°C,88°C and 108°C using HTF at three different flow rates of 30,60 and 120 l/*** is found that both higher HTF inlet temperature and flow rate have a positive impact on stored thermal ***,charging efficiency was decreased by increasing the HTF flow *** highest charging efficiency of 29%was achieved using HTF of 108°C at a flow rate of 30 l/*** of paraffin melted in this case,while part of the paraffin remained solid in other *** the other hand,the results from discharging experiments revealed that both recovered thermal energy and recovery efficiency increased by either increasing the LHTB temperature or HTF flow *** recovered thermal energy of 5,825 KJ at 35%recovery efficiency achieved at LHTB of 108°C using 120 l/h of HTF.

Introduction Fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)is highly effective and potentially life-saving for recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection(CDI)[1].Recent pilot trials also reported the use of FMT to revert hepatic encephalopathy(HE)in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis without infectious colitis[2,3].Intestinal microbiota-driven hyperammonemia is central to HE development and most treatments aim to reduce ammonia levels by modulating the intestinal ***,FMT might lead to increased intestinal ammonia production,as we describe here.

The scalp as a donor site for skin grafting in burns: retrospective study on complications

Background:Split skin grafting(SSG)is the cornerstone in the treatment of deep burns and large skin *** used donor sites are the thigh,abdomen and *** scalp is less common while considered as a reliable donor *** are a large surface area,rapid wound healing,cosmetically favourable results and multiple harvests from the same donor *** include scab formation,chronic folliculitis and alopecia but have been recorded sporadically in previous *** article evaluates the complication rate of the scalp donor site in the treatment of deep burns in the Beverwijk Burn ***:A retrospective study was performed of all patients who received a skin graft from the scalp at the Beverwijk Burn Centre between January 2004 and December *** were collected from medical files of included patients,including gender,age,type of burn(scald,flame,other)and total body surface area(TBSA)burned at the time of first *** variables were healing time of the donor site and incidence of *** follow-up,the incidence of late complications was ***:A total number of 105 grafts were analysed in 93 patients:58 males(62%)and 35 females(38%),with a median age of 2 years and 3 months *** the patients,30(32%)had flame burns and 57(61%)had scald ***-seven percent of patients had a TBSA burned of 5%or *** donor sites healed within 14 *** alopecia or scar hypertrophy developed at the donor *** patients(2.2%)developed folliculitis;one patient(1.1%)showed scab ***:The scalp as a donor site in our Burn Centre shows a comparable short-term complication rate to the previous literature,with quick healing and no long-term ***,we propose the consideration of the scalp as a primary donor site,especially in young children,where the scalp offers a larger donor site area than the buttocks or thighs.

Short-term effects of cleaning-respacing in a silver fir-dominated stand in Romania

This paper discusses the early silviculture of silver fir(Abies alba Mill.), a major softwood in Romania covering more than 294,000 ha. Three research plots(DRP1, DRP2 and DRP3) were established in a 25-year-old silver fir-dominated stand in May 2012. In DRP1 and DRP2, heavy cleaning-respacing were carried out while DRP3 was kept as a control. After the treatments in 2012,the plots had stocking between 1470 trees ha-1(DRP2) and10,030 trees ha-1(DRP3), basal areas between11.8 m2ha-1(DRP2) and 31.6 m2ha-1(DRP3). The average diameters were between 5.7 cm(DRP3) and 9.6 cm(DRP2). Measurements in September 2016 confirmed the rapid response of silver fir to *** best results in average diameter increments and basal area between 2012 and 2016 were in DRP2: 3.7 cm(36.4%) and 7.7 m2ha-1(85.0%) respectively. The largest diameter trees in 2012 were the best growers, and a strong linear correlation between the initial diameter of the remaining trees and their increment was established. Natural dieback of trees occurred only in DRP3(8.6%). The selection of crop trees based on the vigour, quality, and spacing criteria during cleaning-respacing was possible as individuals stood out in terms of vigour and early diameter growth. An issue encountered in DRP1 and DRP2 was the occurrence of epicormic shoots, especially on less vigorous individuals with small crowns. However, four years after cleaning-respacing, these branches are small and do not significantly affect the wood quality.
