A natural proline-rich tetrapeptide cyclo-prolyl-leucyl-prolyl-phenylalanyl was prepared employing solu- tion-phase method of peptide synthesis through coupling of dipeptide fragments Boc-l-Pro-l-Leu-OH and 1-Pro-l-Phe-OMe which utilizes diisopropylcarbodiimide （DIPC） as coupling agent and N-methylmorpholine （NMM） as the base. Deprotection of linear tetrapeptide unit followed by its cyclization provided a cyclopeptide, identical in all aspects to the natural molecule. Pharmacological evaluation showed cytotoxic, antifungal and antihelmintic po- tential of synthesized peptide against Dalton＇s Lymphoma Ascites （DLA） and Ehrlich＇s Ascites Carcinoma （EAC） cell lines, pathogenic dermatophytes and earthworms.

Continuous and accurate monitoring of earth surface changes over rugged terrain Himalayas is important to manage natural resources and mitigate natural *** techniques generally focus on per-pixel based processing and overlook the sub-pixel variations occurring especially in case of low or moderate resolution remotely sensed ***,the existing subpixel-based change detection(SCD)models are less effective to detect the mixed pixel information at its complexity level especially over rugged terrain *** overcome such issues,a topographically controlled SCD model has been proposed which is an improved version of widely used per-pixel based change vector analysis(CVA)and hence,named as a subpixel-based change vector analysis(SCVA).This study has been conducted over a part of the Western Himalayas using the advanced wide-field sensor(AWiFS)and Landsat-8 *** check the effectiveness of the proposed SCVA,the cross-validation of the results has been done with the existing neural network-based SCD(NN-SCD)and per-pixel based models such as fuzzybasedCVA(FCVA)andpost-classification comparison(PCC).The results have shown that SCVA offered robust performance(85.6%-86.4%)as comparedtoNN-SCD(81.6%-82.4%),PCC(79.2%-80.4%),and FCVA(81.2%-83.6%).We concluded that SCVA helps in reducing the detection of spurious pixels and improve the efficacy of generating change *** study is beneficial for the accurate monitoring of glacier retreat and snow cover variability over rugged terrain regions using moderate resolution remotely sensed datasets.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are small non-coding RNA molecules that regulate post-transcriptional gene expression and contribute to all aspects of cellular *** previously reported that the activities of several mitochondria-enriched miRNAs regulating inflammation(i.e.,miR-142-3p,miR-142-5p,and miR-146a)are altered in the hippocampus at 3–12 hours following a severe traumatic brain *** the present study,we investigated the temporal expression profile of these inflammatory miRNAs in mitochondria and cytosol fractions at more chronic post-injury times following severe controlled cortical impact injury in *** addition,several inflammatory genes were analyzed in the cytosol *** analysis showed that while elevated levels were observed in cytoplasm,the mitochondria-enriched miRNAs,miR-142-3p and miR-142-5p continued to be significantly reduced in mitochondria from injured hippocampi for at least 3 days and returned to near normal levels at 7 days *** not statistically significant,miR-146a also remained at reduced levels for up to 3 days following controlled cortical impact injury,and recovered by 7 *** contrast,miRNAs that are not enriched in mitochondria,including miR-124a,miR-150,miR-19b,miR-155,and miR-223 were either increased or demonstrated no change in their levels in mitochondrial fractions for 7 *** one exception was that miR-223 levels were reduced in mitochondria at 1 day following *** major alterations were observed in sham operated *** temporal pattern was unique to mitochondria-enriched miRNAs and correlated with injury-induced changes in mitochondrial bioenergetics as well as expression levels of several inflammatory *** observations suggested a potential compartmental re-distribution of the mitochondria-enriched inflammatory miRNAs and may reflect an intracellular mechanism by which specific miRNAs regulate injury-induced inflammatory *** test this,we utilized a novel peptide-based

Dear editor,The term“syringocele”originated from Greek words“syringo”meaning tube and“cele”meaning swelling and was first coined by Maizels et al.[1]in 1983 to represent a spectrum of dilatation of the normal Cowper’s gland *** classified syringocele into four morphological types:Simple,perforate,imperforate,and *** et al.[2]simplified the classification by dividing syringocele into two groups:Closed and open *** diagnosed in the pediatric population,only 10 cases of adult syringocele were reported in literature till 2007[3].Endoscopic management is preferred in most symptomatic adolescent patients and various energy sources employed for endoscopic marsupialization include cold knife urethrotomy,electrocautery,or holmium laser[4,5].Use of holmium laser is reported only in three cases with maximum follow-up of up to 1 year[6e8].We herein report three additional cases of adolescent closed syringocele,provide detailed technique of laser marsupialization,and report its long-term postoperative *** study was approved by the University of Miami Ethics Committee(study ID:20180511).

Influence of thiol stress on oxidative phosphorylation and generation of ROS in Streptomyces coelicolor

Thiols play very important role in the intracellular redox homeostasis. Imbalance in the redox status leads to changes in the intracellular metabolism including respiration. Thiol stress, a reductive type of stress can also cause redox imbalance. When Gram-positive bacterium Strep- tomyces coelicolor was exposed to thiol stress, catalaseA was induced. Induction of catalaseA is the consequence of elevation of ROS (reactive oxygen species). The two major sources of reactive oxygen species are Fenton reaction and slippage of electrons from electron transport chain during respiration. Hence, the effect of thiol stress was checked on the rate of oxidative phosphorylation in S. coelicolor. We found correlation in the increase of oxidative phosphorylation rate and the generation of ROS, subsequently leading to induction of catalase. It was observed that thiol stress does not affect the functionality of the individual complexes of the ETC, but still there was an increase in the overall respiration, which may lead to generation of more ROS leading to induction of catalase.

The realization of high-performance tunable absorbers for terahertz frequencies is crucial for advancing applications such as single-pixel imaging and *** on the strong position sensitivity of metamaterials’electromagnetic response,we combine meta-atoms that support strongly localized modes with suspended flat membranes that can be driven *** design maximizes the tunability range for small mechanical displacements of the *** employ a micro-electromechanical system technology and successfully fabricate the *** prototype devices are among the best-performing tunable THz absorbers demonstrated to date,with an ultrathin device thickness(~1/50 of the working wavelength),absorption varying between 60%and 80%in the initial state when the membranes remain suspended,and fast switching speed(~27μs).The absorption is tuned by an applied voltage,with the most marked results achieved when the structure reaches the snap-down *** this case,the resonance shifts by >200% of the linewidth(14% of the initial resonance frequency),and the absolute absorption modulation measured at the initial resonance can reach 65%.The demonstrated approach can be further optimized and extended to benefit numerous applications in THz technology.

In this work, an effort has been designed to raise the reliability of engine using Al-Sic composites with other alternatively materials for the engine valve guides. Aluminum matrix composites have found the most suitable inside automotive, aerospace and aircraft industries and contain the greatest promise for future year’s growth. The finite element analysis of the Al-Sic composite with Titanium alloy (Ti-834), Copper Nickel Silicon alloys (CuNi3Si), and aluminum bronze alloy as an alternative material for engine valve guide was done using Ansys 13.0 software. The stress analysis of engine valve guide under the different pressure and temperature is considered, the pressure is taken as from 10 MPa to 100 MPa with different temperatures varying from 600℃ to 650℃. The temperature, principal stress and principal strain distribution on the entire surface area of the engine valve guide were obtained. The stresses were observed to be well below the permitted stress for all the materials but the Al-Sic composites found the most suitable one. Valve guide is modeled in pro-engineer software and analysis is carried out in Ansys 13.0. The deformations and stresses induced due to structural and thermal loading is illustrated and discussed.
