Estimating cooling loads of Indian residences using building geometry data and multiple linear regression

International Energy Agency(IEA)predicts India’s AC stock will reach 1144 million units by 2050,making it the second largest ACs holder *** on the effect of building geometry on cooling load reduction are primarily focused on material and envelope ***,studies on building morphological parame-ters in the Indian context are ***,this research quantifies the effect of four morphology predictors,namely,FL(floor number),ESA(exposed surface area),CZB(conditioned zones per building),and CZF(con-ditioned zones per floor)on cooling load in 75 dominant residential built forms of Navi *** selected buildings are simulated using the Rhinoceros 6 tool with the energy plus *** having the same sim-ulation inputs,envelope parameters,and conditioned volume,the results indicated a 90%variation between the compact and loosely designed *** Linear Regression shows that the four predictors explain 78%(R2=0.78)of variation in the cooling *** is observed that tall buildings show greater efficiency in cooling load reduction due to lesser CZF ***,an increase in CZB and a decrease in ESA significantly reduce the mean cooling load due to compactness and wall sharing,respectively.

The importance of sorting proteins and wall materials to their destination is critical for plant growth and development, though the machinery orchestrating membrane trafficking is poorly understood. Transporters that alter the environment across endomembrane compartments are thought to be important players. Using Escherichia coli and yeast, we previously showed that several Arabidopsis Cation/H＋ eXchanger （AtCHX） members were K＋ transporters with a role in pH homeostasis, though their subcellular location and biological roles in plants are unclear. Co-expression of markers with CHX16, CHX17, CHX18, or CHX19 tagged with a fluorescent protein indicated these transporters associated with plasma membrane （PM） and post-Golgi compartments. Under its native promoter, AtCHX17（l_820）-GFP localized to prevacuolar compartment （PVC） and to PM in roots. Brefeldin A diminished AtCHX17- GFP fluorescence at PM, whereas wortmannin caused formation of GFP-labeled ring-like structures, suggesting AtCHX17 trafficked among PVC, vacuole and PM. AtCHX17（1-472） lacking its carboxylic tail did not associate with PVC or PM in plant cells. Single chx17 mutant or higher-order mutants showed normal root growth and vegetative devel- opment. However, quadruple （chx16chx17chxlSchx19） mutants were reduced in frequency and produced 50%-70% fewer seeds, indicating overlapping roles of several AtCHX17-related transporters in reproduction and/or seed devel- opment. Together, our results suggest that successful reproduction and seed development depend on the ability to regulate cation and pH homeostasis by AtCHX17-1ike transporters on membranes that traffic in the endocytic and/or secretory pathways.

The impact of human activities in the past few decades has paved the way for the release of pollutants due to the improper effluent treatment. Recent studies revealed that, Ofloxacin, an antibiotic as one of the major pollutant affecting surface water and ground water. In this study, the radiolytic potential of Ofloxacin was investigated. The effects of pH, dose and concentration of Ofloxacin were analyzed using One Factor At a Time (OFAT) and the interactive effects between the parameters were studied using Face Centered Central Composite Design. The statistically optimised developed model shows 30% degradation at initial antibiotic concentration of ImM at pH 3.0 and at 2 kGy dose of gamma ray. The process efficiency was evaluated in terms of G value and its correlation with the concentration of antibiotic was also established. The process of degradation was augmented by the addition of H2O2 (1.5 mM). The reaction kinetics for the process was evaluated, the dose rate constant and the rate of degradation for the augmented process was found to be 0.232 kGy^-1 and 0.232 mM/kGy, respectively. The degraded metabolites of the radiolytic degradation of Ofloxacin were analyzed through change in pH, reduction in TOC and GC-MS spectrum.

In this study,the advanced topologies of a DC-DC converter for applications involving the harvesting of solar energy are *** work’s primary contribution is a guide for choosing the most effective topology for a DC-DC converter when developing solar energy collection *** topologies of a DC-DC converter for solar energy harvesting applications are compared in terms of the range of power levels they can oversee,the complexity of the underlying hardware,the cost of implementation,the tracking efficiency and the overall efficiency of the *** article explains five innovative approaches for adapting boost converters to function as standard DC-DC converters to capture solar energy,consisting of(i)voltage-multiplier cell,(2)coupled inductor,(3)coupled inductor and switch capacitor,(4)cascaded topology and(5)voltage-lift *** of the boost converter’s restrictions,it is necessary to deliver high *** comparison findings demonstrate that the voltage-lift-based boost-converter topology performs more effectively than the *** conclusion,the information presented in this paper can be utilized when developing solar energy collection systems to determine the sort of direct current to direct current converter that will be most effective.

The major challenges of the high-gain DC-DC boost converters are high-voltage stress on the switch,extreme duty ratio operation,diode reverse-recovery and converter efficiency *** are many topologies of high-gain converters that have been widely developed to overcome those problems,especially for solar photovoltaic(PV)power-system *** this paper,20 high-gain and low-power DC-DC converter topologies are selected from many topologies of available ***,seven prospective topologies with conversion ratios of>15 are thoroughly reviewed and *** selected topologies are:(i)voltage-multiplier cell,(ii)voltage doubler,(iii)coupled inductor,(iv)converter with a coupled inductor and switch capacitor,(v)converter with a switched inductor and switched capacitor,(vi)cascading techniques and(vii)voltage-lift *** topology has its advantages and disadvantages.A comparison of the seven topologies is provided in terms of the number of components,hardware complexity,maximum converter efficiency and voltage stress on the *** are presented in ***,in the future,it will be easier for researchers and policymakers to choose the right converter topologies and build them into solar PV systems based on their needs.

An empirical relationship to predict tensile strength of pulsed current gas tungsten arc welded AZ31B magnesium alloy was developed. Incorporating process parameters such as peak current, base current, pulse frequency and pulse on time were studied. The experiments were conducted based on a four-factor, five-level, central composite design matrix. The developed empirical relationship can be effectively used to predict the tensile strength of pulsed current gas tungsten arc welded AZ31B magnesium alloy joints at 95% confidence level. The results indicate that pulse frequency has the greatest influence on tensile strength, followed by peak current, pulse on time and base current.

The effects of laser beam welding process parameters such as laser power,welding speed and focal position on mechanical properties and microstructure of AZ31B magnesium alloy were *** joints were fabricated using different levels of laser power,welding speed and focal *** properties of the welded joints were evaluated and correlated with the weld zone microstructure and *** is found that the joints fabricated using a laser power of 2 500 W,welding speed of 5.5 m/min and focal position of-1.5 mm yield superior tensile properties compared with the other *** formation of very fine grains in weld region,higher fusion zone hardness and uniformly distributed finer precipitates are the main reasons for superior tensile properties of these joints.

Effect of low versus high frequency stimulation on freezing of gait and other axial symptoms in Parkinson patients with bilateral STN DBS:a mini-review

Some studies have shown that low frequency stimulation(LFS,most commonly 60 Hz),compared to high frequency stimulation(HFS,most commonly 130 Hz),has beneficial effects,short-term or even long-term,on improving freezing of gait(FOG)and other axial symptoms,including speech and swallowing function,in Parkinson disease(PD)patients with bilateral subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation(STN DBS).However,other studies failed to confirm *** seems not clear what determines the difference in response to *** in study design,such as presence or absence of FOG,exact LFS used(60 Hz versus 80 Hz),study size,open label versus randomized double blind assessment,retrospective versus prospective evaluation,medication On or Off state,total electric energy delivered maintained or not with the change in frequency,and the location of active contacts could all potentially affect the *** mini-review goes over the literature with the aforementioned factors in mind,focusing on the effect of LFS versus HFS on FOG and other axial symptoms in PD with bilateral STN DBS,in an effort to extract the essential data to guide our clinical management of axial symptoms and explore the potential underlying mechanisms as ***,LFS of 60 Hz seems to be consistently effective in patients with FOG at the usual HFS in regards to improving FOG,speech,swallowing function and other axial symptoms,though LFS could reduce tremor control in some *** LFS simply addresses the axial symptoms in the context of HFS or has other beneficial effects requires further studies,along with the mechanism.

Effect of welding speed on microstructural characteristics and tensile properties of GTA welded AZ31B magnesium alloy

The effect of welding speed on tensile and microstructural characteristics of pulsed current gas tungsten arc welded（PCGTAW） AZ31 B magnesium alloy joints was studied. Five joints were fabricated using different levels of welding speeds（105-145 mm/min）. It was found that the joints fabricated using a welding speed of 135 mm/min yielded superior tensile properties compared to other joints. The formation of fine grains and uniformly distributed precipitates in the fusion zone are the main reasons for the superior tensile properties of these joints.
