Malnutrition is described as a state of insufficient intake of energy,protein and other nutrients leading to changes in body composition(weight loss,reduced fat-free mass)as well as adverse functional and clinical outcomes.[1]Depending on the assessments and definition used,the prevalence in older patients ranges between 12%in communitydwelling adults to 60%of patients in geriatric care facilities.[2–5]Older populations are at high risk of nutritional deficiencies because of risk factors such as multimorbidity,polypharmacy,cognitive and physical decline,poor appetite,depressive syndromes and socioeconomic changes.[4,6].

The influence of cryorolling(CR),room temperature rolling(RTR)and post annealing on precipitation,microstructuralevolution(recovery,recrystallisation and grain growth),mechanical and corrosion behavior,was investigated in the present *** precipitation kinetics and microstructural morphology of CR,RTR,and post annealed samples were investigated by differentialscanning calorimetry(DSC),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and electron back scattered diffraction(EBSD)to elucidatethe observed mechanical *** annealing at200°C,UTS and hardness of CR samples(345MPa and HV127)wereimproved as compared to RTR samples(320MPa and HV115).The increase in hardness and UTS of CR samples after annealing at200°C was due to precipitation ofβ''from Al matrix,which imparted higher Zener drag effect as compared to RTR *** in corrosion and pitting potentials was observed for CR samples(?1.321V and?700mV)as compared to RTRsamples(?1.335V and?710mV).In CR samples,heavy dislocation density and dissolution of Mg4Al3Si4-precipitates in the Almatrix have improved corrosion resistance of the alloy through formation of protective passive layer and suppression of galvanic cell,respectively.

通过室温累积叠轧技术制备了Mg/Al多层复合板材,借助SEM、EDS、TEM和同步辐射CT形貌观察等先进表征手段对累积叠轧Mg/Al金属复合板材界面结合进行表征,揭示累积叠轧Mg/Al金属复合板材界面宏观结合状态以及微观界面结构。结果表明,Mg/Al复合板材界面总体上结合良好,没有明显孔洞和开裂,但板材内部仍然存在一些孔洞和局部微小裂纹。3次循环后Mg/Al界面处形成了厚度为150 nm的Mg_(17)Al_(12)层。Mg和Mg_(17)Al_(12)之间存在一种确定的晶体学位相关系[111]Mg_(17)Al_(12)//[1210]Mg、(110)Mg_(17)Al_(12)//(1011)Mg,而Mg_(17)Al_(12)和Al之间是否有位相关系并不明显。

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of thyme essential oil supplementation in rabbit rations on performance, carcass criteria, and meat quality under hot environmental conditions. A total of 75, 4-week-old Californian male rabbits were assigned to 5 dietary treatments until 12 weeks of *** rabbits were reared in an open house system(38C average ambient temperature and 26% to 35%relative humidity). Treatments were as follows: unsupplemented standard ration, negative control(CON); standard ration supplemented with 1.50 g/kg olive oil as carrier, positive control(POS);POS t 50 mg/kg thyme oil(TO1); POS t 100 mg/kg thyme oil(TO2); and POS t 150 mg/kg thyme oil(TO3). Dietary thyme oil up to 150 mg/kg improved(P < 0.001) feed intake and growth performance in comparison to CON. The highest average daily gain and most efficient feed conversion ratio(linear,P < 0.001 and quadratic, P < 0.001) were found for TO1 followed by TO2, TO3 and POS, *** incorporation of thyme oil improved(P < 0.001) carcass criteria and decreased(P < 0.001) perirenal and scapular fat without any side effects on internal organs. Notably, the water holding capacity of rabbit meat was greater(P < 0.001), and the lipid oxidation was lower(P < 0.01) in rabbits fed treated rations compared with CON. Differences were also recorded in oxymyoglobin and metmyoglobin contents in rabbit meat among treatments. In conclusion, thyme oil of a specified composition and to be added to a rabbit ration up to 100 mg/kg using 1.50 g/kg olive oil as a carrier can be used as an efficient feed additive for improving productive performance of rabbits under hot environmental conditions.

To investigate the influence of microwave heating on the dynamic behavior and failure mechanisms of rock,dynamic compression tests were conducted on microwave-irradiated sandstone specimens using a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)*** results show that microwave radiation can effectively weaken the compressive strength of *** specimens show three different failure modes under impact load:tensile failure,tensile−shear composite failure and compressive−shear *** dynamic Poisson’s ratio,calculated using the measured P-and S-wave velocities,is introduced to describe the deformation characteristics of *** the increase in microwave power and heating time,the Poisson’s ratio declines first and then increases slightly,and the turning point occurs at 244.6℃.Moreover,the microstructural characteristics reveal that microwave radiation produces dehydration,pore expansion,and cracking of the *** damage mechanisms caused by microwave radiation are discussed based on thermal stress and steam pressure inside the rock,which provides a reasonable explanation for the experimental results.

Non-compliance in surveillance for patients with previous resection of large (≥ 1 cm) colorectal adenomas

AIM: To assess the extent and reasons of non- compliance in surveillance for patients undergoing polypectomy of large (≥ 1 cm) colorectal adenomas. METHODS: Between 1995 and 2002, colorectal adenomas ≥ 1 cm were diagnosed in 210 patients and subsequently documented at the Erlangen Registry of Colorectal Polyps. One hundred and fi fty-eight patients (75.2%) could be contacted by telephone and agreed to be interviewed. Additionally, records were obtained from the treating physicians. RESULTS: Fifty-four out of 158 patients (34.2%) neglected any surveillance. Reasons for non-compliance included lack of knowledge concerning surveillance intervals (45.8%), no symptoms (29.2%), fear of examination (18.8%) or old age/severe illness (6.3%). In a multivariate analysis, the factors including female gender (P = 0.036) and age > 62 years (P = 0.016) proved to be signif icantly associated with non-compliance in surveillance. CONCLUSION: Efforts to increase compliance in surveillance are of utmost importance. This applies particularly to women’s compliance. Effective strategies for avoiding metachronous colorectal adenoma and cancer should focus on both the improvement in awareness and knowledge of patients and information about physicians for surveillance.
