This paper examines a selection of OB (organizational behaviour) textbooks from 1992 to 2012. Using both content analysis and semiotic language analysis, the purpose of this paper is to illustrate how sports images in textbooks—-although used to ostensibly explain organizational behaviour concepts—-can have implications for addressing issues of gender, race, ethnicity, disabilities, and intersectionality. We conclude that sports images and metaphors (along with other asides, examples, and illustrations) need to be used carefully and reflectively.

The Tour de Ski(TDS:6-9 sprint and distance races across 9-11 days)represents the most intense competition series of the cross-country(XC)ski season and is characterized by accumulated stress from consecutive days of high-intensity(~85%-160% VO_(2max))racing,travel,cold temperatures and low to moderate altitude(500-1500 m above sea level).Here,nutritional strategies play a key supportive role for optimized health,recovery and *** narrative review aims to provide an evidence-based discussion on the energetic demands of the TDS and recommendations for nutritional strate-gies to optimize health and performance of XC skiers during and following the *** highlight several challenges that may arise during the TDS,including the following:poor energy availability(EA)due to decreased appetite or a pressure to maintain a low body weight,suboptimal carbohydrate availability due to a failure to replenish muscle glycogen stores across consecutive-day racing and increased risk of illness due to a combination of factors,including high-intensity racing,poor nutrition,sleep,travel and *** encourage XC skiers to maintain optimal overall EA across the~1.5-week period,ensure high daily carbohydrate availability,as well as the use of strategies to maintain a healthy immune *** addition,we include practical guidelines on the management of nutrition support prior to and during the *** recognize that many nutritional questions remain unanswered both in the context of elite XC ski racing and specifically for extreme demands like the TDS that should be addressed in future investigations.

加纳摆脱殖民统治、实现民族独立之后,面临着各种各样的挑战,包括基础设施不完善、贫穷、失业率较高、教育水平低、政治腐败、治理不善等,这些都阻碍了该国的经济发展。历届政府都采取各种措施解决这些发展难题。尽管大多数干预措施都取得了成功,但随着人口的迅速增长,仍显不足。中加两国于1961年正式建立外交关系,随后即参与加纳的发展。中国的援助为加纳应对发展挑战作出了巨大贡献,从2007年的债务免除到大规模的基础设施建设,以及能源、交通、电信和建筑领域的技术突破,中国已成为加纳的主要发展伙伴和最大贸易伙伴。加纳之所以采取"超越援助"的举措,有其特殊的考量。即:在不依赖外部援助的情况下,通过审慎管理本国的自然资源和为其发展议程融资,来规划自己的发展道路。换而言之,该国将负责自身的改革和发展事宜,而不是由援助伙伴和相关机构确定本国发展的优先事项。此外,"加纳超越援助"议程旨在与发展伙伴建立平等互利的伙伴关系。本文认为,加中关系在相互合作、相互信任和相互尊重方面取得了长足进步。40年前,中国启动了积极的经济改革,推动其经济从低收入国家转向高收入国家。因此,加纳希望通过"超越援助"议程实施类似的改革,学习中国的成功经验。为此,两国的双边关系将进一步加深并迈向新台阶。加纳改革的影响将是互惠互利的,前景光明。本研究共分为六章。第一章是绪论,介绍研究背景,简要概述了加纳与中国的双边关系以及加纳依赖援助的历程,同时简要介绍了"加纳超越援助"议程以及与该议程相关的内容。本章指出了研究的重要意义:对外援助是大多数发展中国家的支柱,这导致严重的依赖问题,尤其是非洲国家。因此,找出加纳与中国发展合作的重点是非常重要的,因为加纳政府目前正在启动“加纳超越援助”议程,旨在将该国经济从依赖援助转向依靠贸易和投资。本研究还旨在探讨如何利用"超越援助"议程,为加纳和中国创造双赢局面。本研究采用定性分析和内容分析方法,对课题相关文献进行梳理,并采用林毅夫的新结构经济学理论,该理论强调在分析经济发展过程(即经济的禀赋)时,需要考虑技术、产业、硬基础设施、软基础设施等结构特征,以及国家作为促进者的作用,帮助发展中国家将其落后的结构转变为现代结构。第二章探讨了"加纳超越援助"提出的背景、议程背后的考量、议程将如何实施、一些新出现的问题以及国际援助伙伴的回应。这一章还阐述了中国在加纳发展中发挥的作用,特别强调了过去十年所发挥的作用。由于本研究主要关注的是"加纳超越援助"议程,因此了解新的经济改革和发展议程将如何影响加纳与中国的关系就显得十分重要,为此,本研究的第三章和第四章讨论"加纳超越援助"对加纳和中国双边政治和经济关系的影响,重点讨论如何加强和深化政治互信与合作,以及"超越援助"议程将如何扩大经济领域的合作。第五章分析了加中双边关系的发展前景和趋势。作者认为,由于中国已经成功地通过结构转型进行了类似的经济改革,在交通运输、工业和水电系统等大型基础设施建设方面拥有优势,因此,中国有能力提供专业意见和技术知识,以帮助加纳在新的改革中取得成功。此外,由于中国目前正在进行产业升级,不断上升的劳动力成本可能会迫使中国将其劳动力密集型产业转移到劳动力成本较低的发展中国家。这意味着,通过对加-中双边关系的适当调整,以及两国之间更好的接触,加纳很有可能吸引大量此类产业。因此,当前正是两国充分利用“加纳超越援助”议程发展双边关系的最佳时机。第六章总结指出,当今世界的先进经济体,如英国、美国、法国、德国、日本、韩国、中国等国都必须进行经济改革,才能赶上世界其他国家。这些国家都对标一个在工业化、技术和基础设施方面领先自己的国家并赶超它,因此,加纳也需要仿效这些国家,开始新的改革。由此看来,"加纳超越援助"议程正当时。由于中国在过去四十年中成功地进行了经济改革,拥有相关的知识、专长和经验,加纳可以向中国取经。因此,"加纳超越援助"议程为加中关系开启新篇章。

Perceptions and barriers that influence the ability to provide appropriate incontinence care in nursing home residents: Statements from nursing staff

Urinary incontinence is a common medical condition among nursing home residents. Urinary incontinence in older people has a multifactorial etiology and is therefore more difficult to assess and treat than urinary incontinence in younger people. Previous research has shown that incontinence care in nursing home residents often is inadequate and little systematized. The aim of this study was to identify perceptions and barriers that influence the ability of the nursing staff to provide appropriate incontinence care. This was a qualitative study using focus-group methodology. Data were collected from three focus-group interviews with 15 members of the nursing staff from six different units in a nursing home. The focus-group interviews were recorded on tape, transcribed verbatim and analyzed according to qualitative content analysis. Three topics and eight categories were identified. The first topic, Perceptions and barriers associated with residents, consisted of one category: “physical and cognitive problems”. The second topic, Perceptions and barriers associated with nursing staff, consisted of three categories: “lack of knowledge”, “attitudes and beliefs” and “lack of accessibility”. The third topic, Perceptions and barriers associated with organizational culture, consisted of four categories: “rigid routines”, “lack of resource”, “lack of documentation” and “lack of leadership”. The findings from this study show that there are many barriers that might influence the possibilities of nursing staff to provide appropriate incontinence care to residents in nursing homes. However, it can nevertheless seem like opinions and the attitude of nursing staff, together with a lack of knowledge about UI, are the most important barriers to provide appropriate incontinence care.
