In this review we study the nuclear pastas as they are expected to be formed in neutron star *** start with a study of the pastas formed in nuclear matter(composed of protons and neutrons),we follow with the role of the electron gas on the formation of pastas,and we then investigate the pastas in neutron star matter(nuclear matter embedded in an electron gas).Nuclear matter(NM)at intermediate temperatures(1 MeV≤T≤***),at saturation and and sub-saturation densities,and with proton content ranging from 30%to 50%was found to have liquid,gaseous and liquid-gas mixed *** isospin-dependent phase diagram was obtained along with the critical points,and the symmetry energy was calculated and compared to experimental data and other *** low temperatures(T≤1 MeV)NM produces crystal-like structures around satura-tion densities,and pasta-like structures at sub-saturation *** of the pasta structures were studied with cluster-recognition algorithms,caloric curve,the radial distribution function,the Lindemann coefficient,Kolmogorov statistics,Minkowski functionals;the symmetry energy of the pasta showed a connection with its *** star matter(NSM)is nuclear matter embedded in an electron *** electron gas is included in the calculation by the inclusion of an screened Coulomb *** connect the NM pastas with those in neutron star matter(NSM),the role the strength and screening length of the Coulomb interaction have on the formation of the pastas in NM was *** was found to exist even without the presence of the electron gas,but the effect of the Coulomb interaction is to form more defined pasta structures,among other ***,it was determined that there is a minimal screening length for the developed structures to be independent of the cell *** star matter was found to have similar phases as NM,phase transitions,symmetry energy,structure function and thermal *** in NM,pasta f

Identification of the distinguishing features of Crohn’s disease and ischemic colitis using computed tomographic enterography

Impact of train speed on the mechanical behaviours of track-bed materials

For the 30,000 km long French conventional railway lines(94% of the whole network),the train speed is currently limited to 220 km/h,whilst the speed is 320 km/h for the 1800 km long high-speed ***,there is a growing need to improve the services by increasing the speed limit for the conventional *** paper aims at studying the influence of train speed on the mechanical behaviours of track-bed materials based on field monitoring *** is put on the behaviours of interlayer and subgrade *** selected experimental site is located in Vierzon,*** sensors including accelerometers and soil pressure gauges were installed at different *** vertical strains of different layers can be obtained by integrating the records of accelerometers installed at different trackbed *** experimentation was carried out using an intercity test train running at different speeds from 60 km/h to 200 km/*** test train was composed of a locomotive(22.5 Mg/axle) and 7 'Corail'coaches(10.5 Mg/axle).It was observed that when the train speed was raised,the loadings transmitted to the track-bed ***,the response of the track-bed materials was amplified by the speed rise at different depths:the vertical dynamic stress was increased by about 10% when the train speed was raised from 60 km/h to 200 km/h for the locomotive loading,and the vertical strains doubled their quasistatic values in the shallow ***,the stressestrain paths were estimated using the vertical stress and strain for each train *** loading paths allowed the resilient modulus Mrto be *** was found that the resilient modulus(M_r) was decreased by about 10% when the train speed was increased from 100 km/h to 200 km/***,the damping ratio(D_r) kept stable in the range of speeds explored.

Enhanced Ferromagnetism in ZnO Nanoribbons and Clusters Passivated with Sulfur

Inspired by recent experimental results,the electronic and magnetic properties of sulfur-passivated ZnO clusters and zigzag nanoribbons have been studied using fi rst principles calculations in the framework of the local spin density *** the case of the ZnO nanoribbons,the sulfur atoms or thiol groups were attached in different ways to the zinc or oxygen atoms located at the edges,whereas in clusters,the sulfur atoms were set on the surface,mainly interacting with atoms with low-coordinate *** an exhaustive atomic relaxation,we found that a magnetic moment emerges in zigzag nanoribbons both with and without sulfur-passivation on the ***,the magnitude of the magnetic moment is very sensitive to sulfur *** particular,we found that when sulfur is attached to the zinc atoms in an alternating fashion along the ribbon edges,the magnetic moment is a maximum(1.4μB/unit cell).In the case of clusters,we found that the Zn_(15)O_(15) cluster exhibits a high spin moment of 5.5μB when capped with sulfur *** calculations indicate that sulfur-passivating of ZnO nanosystems could be responsible for recently observed ferromagnetic responses.

Evaluation of antiparasitic,anticancer,antimicrobial and hypoglycemic properties of organic extracts from Panamanian mangrove plants

Objective: To investigate 33 organic extracts of mangrove plants for: antiparasitic, anticancer, and antibacterial activities, as well as their ability to inhibit the activity of the α-glucosidase enzyme. Methods: Leaves from all different plant mangrove species located in five mangrove zones of the Pacific coast of Panama were collected according to standard procedures. Qualitative phytochemical analysis of the organic extracts was performed by thin layer chromatography. The antiparasitic activity against Plasmodium falciparum, Trypanosoma cruzi and Leishmania donovani, toxicity against Artemia salina, anticancer activity in MCF-7 cell line, and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa of all organic extract were investigated according protocols stablished in our institution. Finally, the ability to inhibit the enzymatic activity of α-glucosidase was evaluated by monitoring the hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl α-Dglucopyranoside. Results: Thirty-three different samples belonging to nine different species of vascular plants with seeds of true mangroves were collected. Triterpenoids, phenolics, and tannins were the main groups of compounds found in the sampled mangroves. Saponins, quinones, and coumarins were found in less than 50%of the samples. lagun.ularia racemosa showed moderate activity against Plasmodium falciparum. None of the extracts presented anticancer activity. Rhizophora mangle exhibited potent activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis [(90.41 ±7.33)% and(96.02±6.14)% of inhibition]; Avicennia germinans and Conocarpus erectus had activity against Escherichia coli[(71.17±6.15)% and(60.60±5. 13)% of inhibition,respectively]. Phase separation and coarsening of NiAl(β′)intermetallic in quench-aged Fe-Ni-Al alloys
