Features of the motion of gel particles in a three-phase bubble column with non-foaming and foaming gas–liquid systems,determined by using experiments of radioactive particle tracking(RPT),have been *** tracer used is a gel particle which resembles typical immobilized *** tracer trajectory is analyzed to extract relevant information for design *** solid velocity field,turbulence parameters,dispersion coefficients,mixing times and flow transitions are determined and *** presence of foam significantly affects many quantified parameters,especially within the heterogeneous flow *** hydrodynamic stresses are reduced in the presence of foam,especially close to the *** dispersion coefficients also decrease,and the solid mixing time is only slightly affected by the presence of *** holdup,inferred both from RPT experiments and from gamma ray scanning,is higher for foaming systems and leads to a shift in the transition gas velocity towards higher values.

AIM:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of vitamin E in children with chronic hepatitis ***:We randomly assigned patients with chronic hepatitis B,positive for hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg),to receive either vitamin E or placebo once daily for 6 mo in a 3:1 ratio and double-blind *** primary end point was HBeAg seroconversion,defined as the loss of HBeAg,undetectable levels of serum hepatitis B virus DNA,and the appearance of antibodies against HBeAg 12 mo after ***:At baseline visit,49 patients had normal and 43 had increased serum aminotransferase ***-nine patients did not respond to previous treatment with interferon-α or ***-six children completed the study;16 were non-compliant(n = 7),lost to follow-up(n = 7),or started another antiviral treatment(n = 3).Intention-to-treat analysis showed HBeAg seroconversion in 16 children(23.2%) treated with vitamin E and two(8.7%) in the placebo group(P = 0.13).Vitamin E was well ***:There is only a tendency that vitamin E may promote HBeAg *** larger studies are needed to clarify the role of antioxidants in the therapy of chronic hepatitis B.

The widespread use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) is a major intervention method for malaria control. While coverage of LLINs has increased, there is a need for information on the operational effectiveness of nets deployed in the field in the context of malaria vector resistance to insecticides used for impregnation. The development of specific anti-malarial biomarkers to assess exposure to mosquito bites is an important development in evaluations. The aim of this study was to characterize the human IgG antibody response to Anopheles gSG6-P1 saliva, a salivary peptide antigen previously shown to be a relevant biomarker of human exposure to Anopheles bites, in order to assess the LLINs under field conditions in areas of low and high vector resistance to insecticides. We analyzed data from 240 randomly selected children ( 0.05). Furthermore, the same finding was observed for antibody expression in children whether or not they used LLINs on the day before the survey (p = 0.7724). Similarly, gender and especially age, major factors of variation in the adaptive immune response, did not have a significant effect on IgG expression.

It has been reported that spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) show ventricular dilation, changes in CSF proteins and variations in the circumventricular organs (CVO) such as: the subcommissural organ (SCO), the subfornical organ (SFO) and the area postrema (AP) which are located in the walls of the third and fourth ventricles. On the other hand, p73 proteins are present in cells of the central nervous system (CNS) such as circumventricular structures and the neuroepithelium which are altered in ventricular dilation. The purpose of the present work is to study the TAp73 isoform expression in the circumventricular organs (CVO) and their variations in ventricular dilatation and arterial hypertension. Brains and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from control Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) and SHR were used. The paraffin sections containing the CVO were immunohistochemically proc-essed with anti-TAp73 and by western blot, p73 bands in the CSF and circumventricular organ extract were also identified. The western blot study showed bands marked with p73 in the CSF and CVO, the p73 band expression was bigger in the SHR than in the WKY rats. We also found stronger markings in the SFO, SCO and AP of the hypertensive rats than in the WKY rats. It could be concluded that hypertension in the SHR produces altera-tions in the relationship between the p73 protein, circumventricular structures and CSF.

In this study, an algorithm to adjust parameters of high roughness time series based on energy associated of series using a feed-forward NN-based model is presented. The criterion for adjustment consists of building time series values from forecasted time series area and taking into account the roughness of series. These values are approximated by the NN to make a primitive calculated as an area by the predictor filter used as a new entrance. A comparison between this work and another that involves a similar approach to test time series prediction, indicates an improvement for certain sort of series. The NN filter output is intended to approximate the current value available from the series which has the same Hurst Parameter as the real time series. The proposed approach is tested over five time series obtained from samples of Mackey-Glass delay differential equations (MG). Therefore, these results show a model performance for time series forecasting and encourage to be applied for meteorological variables measurements such as soil moisture series, daily rainfall and monthly cumulative rainfall time series forecasting..

Metastases of uveal melanoma(UM)spread predominantly to the *** to low response rates to systemic therapies,liver-directed therapies(LDT)are commonly used for tumor *** impact of LDT on the response to systemic treatment is unknown.A total of 182 patients with metastatic UM treated with immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)were included in this *** were recruited from prospective skin cancer centers and the German national skin cancer registry(ADOReg)of the German Dermatologic Cooperative Oncology Group(DeCOG).Two cohorts were compared:patients with LDT(cohort A,n=78)versus those without LDT(cohort B,n=104).Data were analyzed for response to treatment,progression-free survival(PFS),and overall survival(OS).The median OS was significantly longer in cohort A than in cohort B(20.1 vs.13.8 months;P=0.0016)and a trend towards improved PFS was observed for cohort A(3.0 vs.2.5 months;P=0.054).The objective response rate to any ICB(16.7%vs.3.8%,P=0.0073)and combined ICB(14.1%vs.4.5%,P=0.017)was more favorable in cohort *** data suggest that the combination of LDT with ICB may be associated with a survival benefit and higher treatment response to ICB in patients with metastatic UM.
