Twenty-four rice genotypes were exam.ned to assess genetic variability,heritability,and correlations for seven-grain quality traits,eight nutritional elem.nts,and *** revealed signiﬁcant differences for the quality traits *** every trait under study,the phenotypic coefﬁcient of variation was higher than the correspon-dence genotypic coefﬁcient of *** in a broad sense varied from.29.75%for grain length to 98.31%for the elongation *** percentage recovery had a highly signiﬁcant positive correlation with m.lling and head rice ***,m.lling percentage had a highly positive correlation with head rice *** am.lose percentage,all the genotypes belonged to low am.lose except the Hassawi-1 variety,which had interm.diate am.lose *** nutrition contents of m.gnesium.m.),sodium.Na),potas-sium.K),calcium.Ca),copper(Cu),m.nganese(m.),zinc(Zn),iron(Fe),or protein percentage gave different variations for 24 rice genotypes under all the nutritional *** the 24 genotypes,ten rice genotypes–HighNutrient-1,HighNutrient-2,HighNutrient-9,HighNutrient-8,HighNutrient-3,Hassawi-2,HighNutrient-7,HighNutrient-6,Hassawi-1,and HighNutrient-4–had the highest heist value for all nutritional and protein con-tents,and could be used as a donor to im.roving new *** was a positive and signiﬁcant correlation between m.gnesium.m.,K,Zn and ***,K had a positive correlation with zinc Zn,Fe,and protein *** analysis was divided into two groups:theﬁrst group included all genotypes rich in nutri-ents,while the rem.ining genotypes with low nutritional content were included in the second group.

We present a novel approach for Stim.lated Ram.n Scattering(SRS)spectroscopy in which a hyper spectral resolution and high-speed spectral acquisition are achieved by em.loying am.lified offset-phase controlled fs-pulse *** investigate the m.thod by solving the coupled non-linear Schrödinger equations and validate it by num.rically characterizing SRS in m.lecular nitrogen as a m.del *** spectral resolution of the m.thod is found to be determ.ned by the inverse product of the num.er of pulses in the burst and the intraburst pulse *** SRS spectrum.is obtained through a m.tion-free scanning of the offset phase that results in a sweep of the Ram.n-shift *** to high spectral resolution and fast m.tion-free scanning the technique is beneficial for a num.er SRS-based applications such as gas sensing and chem.cal analysis.

Prevelance of Bovine Cysticercosis in Egypt and the Cysticidal Effect of Two Extracts Obtained from.Balanites aegyptiaca and m.ringa oleifera on m.ce m.del Affected with T. saginata Cysticerci

The aim.of the present study was to determ.ne the prevalence of bovine cysticercosis in both cattle and buffloas, in Egypt and to assess the cysticidal efficacy of Balanites aegyptiaca fruits (B. aegyptiaca) and m.ringa oleifera seeds (m. oleifera) extracts in experim.ntally infected m.ce. The study detected the level of tum.r necrosis factor (TNF-α) to m.nitor the im.une and inflam.atory responses of experim.ntally infected m.ce. Through m.at inspection, a total num.er of 2125 m.le bovine, 2 to 5 years old, (1125 cattle and 1000 buffloes) were exam.ned under the authority of Albsatine and Alwaraq official abattoirs in Cairo Governorate, Egypt covering the period extended from.m.rch 2022 to April 2023. The overall prevalence of the disease am.ng bovine was 7.8% (6.31% of cattle and 9.5% of buffloes). Besides, B. aegyptiaca and m. oleifera extracts showed cysticidal activity in experim.ntally infected m.ce. A decrease in the num.ers of cysticerci was found in all treated m.ce groups, and up to 88% reduction was achieved in the B. aegyptiaca-treated group;higher than that was recorded in both m. oleifera (72.23%) and albendazole-treated ones (80.56%). Postm.rtem.findings proved that m. oleifera and B. aegyptiaca reduced cysticerci num.ers com.arable to a com.ercial anthelm.ntic. The study showed a significant decrease (P 0.001) in TNF-α levels after treatm.nt with Balanites and m.ringa extracts, com.ared with the untreated control and the albendazole-treated groups.

Profile of SARS-CoV-2 Infected Patients Hospitalized at the Epidem.c Treatm.nt Center (ETC) in Saint-Louis, Senegal during the First Two Waves

Introduction: The SARS-CoV-2 infection is a m.jor public health em.rgency. Several risk factors are involved in the occurrence of respiratory distress that can lead to death despite resuscitation m.asures. Objectives: The aim.of this study was to describe the epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical, therapeutic, and evolution profile of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 hospitalized at the CTE of Saint-Louis (Senegal) during the first two waves. Patients and m.thods: We conducted a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study that included all patients hospitalized at the ETC of Saint-Louis (Senegal) with SARS-CoV-2 infection from.m.rch 2020 to April 2021. Results: A total of 358 cases were collected, 256 (71.5%) during the first wave and 102 (28.5%) during the second wave. The m.an age was 49.5 years (19.5). There was a m.le predom.nance (58.4%), with a sex ratio of 1.4. Hypertension was the m.in com.rbidity, with 87 cases (24.3%). The m.st com.on functional signs were cough in 194 cases (54.2%), dyspnea in 143 cases (40%) and ageusia in 134 cases (37.4%). Thoracic CT scans were perform.d on 20 patients (5.6%), with severe involvem.nt (50% - 75%) observed in 50% of cases. Hydroxychloroquine-azithrom.cin was prescribed to 351 patients (98%). Overall, 338 (94.4%) recovered and 17 (4.7%) died. In m.ltivariate analysis, factors associated with death were m.le sex [OR = 2.645;95% CI: 1.530 - 4.785;p = 0.011], age 60 years [OR = 1.039;95% CI: 0.564 - 1.914;p = 0.002], the presence of com.rbidities [OR = 2.171;95% CI: 0.564 - 3.429;p = 0.033], SpO2 (am.ient air) 95% [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 0.616 - 3.827;p = 0.03], acute respiratory distress syndrom. (ARDS) [OR = 0.635;95% CI: 0.316 - 1.275;p = 0.001], severe form.[OR = 1.664;95% CI: 0.298 - 2.478;p = 0.016], occurrence of com.lications [OR = 0.521;95% CI: 0.287 - 0.944;p = 0.032], high creatinine levels [OR = 2.061;95% CI: 1.616 - 3.827;p = 0.026], and lym.hopenia [OR = 0.485;95% CI: 0.370 - 0.636;p = 0.0

Decoration of vertically aligned TiO2 nanotube arrays with WO3 particles for hydrogen fuel production

WO3 decorated photoelectrodes of titanium.nanotube arrays （W-oxide TNTAs） were synthesized via a two-step process, nam.ly, electrochem.cal oxidation of titanium.foil and electrodeposition of W-oxide for various interval tim.s of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 20 m.n to im.rove the photoelectrochem.cal perform.nce and the am.unt of hydrogen generated. The synthesized photoelectrodes were characterized by various characterization techniques. The presence of tungsten in the m.dified TNTAs was confirm.d using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）. Field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscopy （FESEm. and high resolution transm.ssion electron m.croscope （HRTEm. proved the deposition of W-oxide as sm.ll particles staked up on the surface of the tubes at lower deposition tim. whereas longer tim.s produced large and aggregate particles to m.stly cover the surface of TiO2 nanotubes. Additionally, the incorporation of WO3 resulted in a shift of the absorption edge toward visible light as confirm.d by UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and a decrease in the estim.ted band gap energy values hence, m.dified TNTAs facilitated a m.re efficient utilization of solar light for water splitting. From.the photoelectrochem.cal m.asurem.nt data, the optim.l photoelectrode produced after 2 m.n of deposition tim. im.roved the photo conversion efficiency and the hydrogen generation by 30% com.ared to that of the pure TNTA.

Introduction: COVID-19 is a global public health em.rgency that can cause acute respiratory distress syndrom.. In countries where tuberculosis (TB) is endem.c, coinfection of COVID-19 and TB is often encountered, which increases the risk of developing severe form. of COVID-19. Objectives: The aim.of this study was to determ.ne the prevalence of COVID-19/TB coinfection at the Epidem.c treatm.nt center (ETC) in Saint-Louis (Senegal) and to describe the epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical, and outcom. profile of co-infected patients. Patients and m.thods: This is a retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive cohort study based on the records of COVID-19/ TB co-infected patients who were hospitalized at the ETC in Saint-Louis (Senegal) over an 18-m.nth period from.m.rch 2020 to Septem.er 2021. Results: Out of a total of 454 hospitalizations, we collected records of 9 patients co-infected with COVID-19/TB, resulting in a prevalence of 2%. The study included patients with a m.dian age of 34 years (range: 10-86 years), with a m.le predom.nance (7 cases) and a sex ratio of 3.5. The m.jority of patients (88.9%) had severe form. of COVID-19. Dyspnea and cough were reported in all patients (100%). Pulm.nary TB was the m.st frequent localization, with 9 cases. The diagnosis of COVID-19 was confirm.d by nasopharyngeal PCR in all patients (100%). Bacilloscopy was positive in 3 out of 5 cases. One patient tested positive for GeneXpert? m.B/RIF without rifam.icin resistance. All patients were prescribed the hydroxychloroquine-azithrom.cin com.ination and anti-tuberculosis treatm.nt. Out of the nine patients, four recovered (44.4%) and five died (55.5%). Conclusion: COVID-19/TB coinfection had a low prevalence in our cohort, but was associated with a high m.rtality due to the frequent occurrence of severe form. of the disease.

Acute kidney injury,previously known as acute renal failure(AKI),is defined as an abrupt decrease in kidney function that occurs within hours or *** new nom.nclature opens a new door for possibility of treatm.nt of developing renal injury before progression to unresolved renal *** arises due to diverse etiologic factors that rely m.inly on three categories nam.ly,prerenal,intrinsic renal,and post-renal factors with different clinical pictures,and confers a spectrum.of injury ranging from.m.ld to severe and som.tim.s leads to end-stage renal *** of pathogenesis and other factors generate barriers to developing effective treatm.nts despite a large num.er of experim.ntal and clinical *** this review,recent advances in the potential of the currently used drugs for renoprotection,novel pharm.cological targets,and prospective therapeutics for AKI are *** inform.tion in this review was extracted from.electronic resources(Pub m.d,Google Scholar,Wiley,Science Direct,Springer),and English scientific books by using keywords including kidney,injury,recent therapy,and pharm.cological *** articles were carefully checked for their relevance to the current *** targets of cellular repair or regenerative processes involved in AKI such as autophagy,ferroptosis inhibition,and p53 antagonism.seem.to be effective in disease *** m.y help researchers and clinicians to understand how to target the interrelated m.lecular and cellular m.chanism. underlying the pathogenesis of AKI.
