Background: The liver is the most commonly damaged organ in abdominal trauma. The management of liver trauma has experienced many changes over the last two decades. Currently there is a trend toward a non-operative treatment warranted by the successful pediatric experience and better results recorded in many trauma centers worldwide. This study aimed to evaluate outcomes of operative and non-operative management of liver trauma in our institution over the last five ***: The patients with a diagnosis of blunt or penetrating liver injuries, admitted and managed in our hospital from January 2012 to December 2016 were retrospectively studied. The patients were divided into 2 groups, operated and non-operated groups, according to the initial management considered appropriate at the time of patient admission. Clinical features and outcomes were ***: The study involved 83 patients, with a mean age of 33 years and a marked male predominance(85.5%). The most common type of lesions was blunt trauma and the main cause was road traffic accidents. Sixty-eight liver injuries(81.9%) were of low severity(grades Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ), while 15(18.1%) were of high severity(grade Ⅳ or greater). Fifty-six patients(67.5%) had multiple injuries. Surgical treatment was performed in 26(31.3%) patients. Non-operative management was undertaken in 57 cases(68.7%). The morbidity and mortality rates were clearly lower in non-operative patients compared to those in the operated ***: Careful non-operative management is an adequate therapeutic strategy for the patients suffering from liver trauma with stable hemodynamics. Patients with complex hepatic trauma and especially those with other organ injuries continue to have significantly higher mortality.

This paper presents formulae and explanation about the growth of a convective gas bubble in the blood and other tissues of divers who surface too quickly, concentration distribution around the growing bubble is also presented. The formulae are valid all over the growth stages, i.e. under variable ambient pressure while the diver is ascending, and under constant ambient pressure at diving stops or at sea level. The mathematical model is solved analytically by using the method of combined variables. The growth process is affected by tissue diffusivity, concentration constant and the initial void fraction, which is the dominant parameter. Results show that, the time of the complete growth, in the convective growth model, is shorter than those earlier presented by Mohammadein and mohamed [Concentration distribution around a growing gas bubble in tissue, Math. Biosci. 225（1）（2010） 11-17] and Srinivasan et al. [Mathematical models of diffusion- limited gas bubble dynamics in tissue, J. Appl. Physiol. 86 （1999） 732-741] for the growth of a stationary gas bubble, this explains the effect of bubble motion on consuming the oversaturated dissolved gas from the tissue into growing bubble which leads to increment in the growth rate to be more than those presented in the previous stationary models.

Wind-lens turbines(WLTs)exhibit the prospect of a higher output power and more suitability for urban areas in comparison to bare wind *** wind-lens typically comprises a diffuser shroud coupled with a flange appended to the exit periphery of the ***-lenses can boost the velocity of the incoming wind through the turbine rotor owing to the creation of a lowpressure zone downstream the flanged *** this paper,the aerodynamic performance of the wind-lens is computationally assessed using high-fidelity transient CFD simulations for shrouds with different profiles,aiming to assess the effect of change of some design parameters such as length,area ratio and flange height of the diffuser shroud on the power *** power coefficient(Cp)is calculated by solving the URANS equations with the aid of the SST k–ω***,comparisons with experimental data for validation are accomplished to prove that the proposed methodology could be able to precisely predict the aerodynamic behavior of the windlens *** results affirm that wind-lens with cycloidal profile yield an augmentation of about 58%increase in power coefficient compared to bare wind turbine of the same rotor *** is also emphasized that diffusers(cycloid type)of small length could achieve a twice increase in power coefficient while maintaining large flange heights.

Egyptian beach ilmenite occurs in a relatively high content in the naturally highly concentrated superficial black sand deposits at specific beach zones in the northern parts of the Nile Delta at Rosetta. Microscopic study shows that the ilmenite occurs as fresh homogeneous black or heterogeneous multicoloured altered grains and exhibits three types （homogeneous, exsolved and altered） of ilmenite varieties. XRD data of ilmenite indicates their association with minor hematite and quartz, whereas leucoxene shows its association with Nb-rutUe, pseudorutile and hematite. grain size distribution suggests a very fine sand size of 〉89% and 80% and a fine sand size of 10.5% and 18.3% for fresh and altered ilmenites, respectively. The density of fresh, altered ilmenite and leucoxene concentrates varies from 2.70, 2.50 to 2.40 ton/m^3, suggesting a gradual decrease from high grade fresh to leucoxene and consistent with variation in magnetic susceptibility as a consequence of the leaching of iron. Mass magnetic susceptibility reveals 97.6% of ilmenite and 92% of the altered form are obtained at 0.20 and 0.48 ampere. Fresh iimenite exhibits variable TiO2 （47.18%） and Fe2O3^T （46.10%） with minor MnO, MgO and Cr2O3 （1.22, 1.10 and 0.51%）. The altered ilmenite is higher in TiO2 （76.16%） and SiO2 （4.68%） and lower in Fe2O3^T （14.45%）, MnO, MgO and Cr2O3 （0.39, 0.52 and 0.11%） compared with the fresh form. Three concentrates of ilmenites （g1, g2 and g3） were prepared from crude ore using a Reading cross belt magnetic separator under different conditions, revealing a gradual increase of TiO2, SiO2, Al2O3 and CaO accompanied by a decrease of Fe2O3^T, MgO and Cr2O3 with repetition of the separation processes. Several ore dressing techniques were carried out to upgrade the iimenite concentrate.

Aim:Prostate cancer(PCa)is the second most prevalent male cancer worldwide and designated the sixth most frequent male cancer in Arab *** prostate specific antigen(PSA)has become the best and most valuable biomarker for screening of PCa,elevated levels of PSA can reflect the presence of malignant cells but can overlap with benign prostatic *** is a necessity to develop and improve current tools for early detection and diagnosis of *** study was done to evaluate the validation of serum insulin-like growth factor-1(IgF-1),IgF binding protein-3(IgFBP-3),chromogranin A(CgA)and combination with PSA in treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)and PCa ***:The study included 72 patients with PCa,70 BPH patients and 56 healthy male subjects of matched *** history and clinical data were recorded for all ***:Serum PSA attained sensitivity of 84%at 82%specificity with an accuracy of 83%,although IgF-1,IgFBP-3 and CgA did not recognize PCa ***:Combinations of IgF-1 and IgFBP-3 biomarkers with PSA were effectively differentiated between PCa and control groups as well as improving the overall value of sensitivity,specificity and diagnostic accuracy of PCa to 85%and 86%for IgF-1/PSA and IgFP-3/PSA respectively.

This work deals with robust inverse neural control strategy for a class of single-input single-output(SISO) discrete-time nonlinear system affected by parametric uncertainties. According to the control scheme, in the first step, a direct neural model(DNM)is used to learn the behavior of the system, then, an inverse neural model(INM) is synthesized using a specialized learning technique and cascaded to the uncertain system as a controller. In previous works, the neural models are trained classically by backpropagation(BP) algorithm. In this work, the sliding mode-backpropagation(SM-BP) algorithm, presenting some important properties such as robustness and speedy learning, is investigated. Moreover, four combinations using classical BP and SM-BP are tested to determine the best configuration for the robust control of uncertain nonlinear systems. Two simulation examples are treated to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
