WO3 decora.ed photoelectrodes of tita.ium na.otube a.ra.s （W-oxide TNTa.） were synthesized via.a.two-step process, na.ely, electrochemica. oxida.ion of tita.ium foil a.d electrodeposition of W-oxide for va.ious interva. times of 1, 2, 3, 5, a.d 20 min to improve the photoelectrochemica. performa.ce a.d the a.ount of hydrogen genera.ed. The synthesized photoelectrodes were cha.a.terized by va.ious cha.a.teriza.ion techniques. The presence of tungsten in the modified TNTa. wa. confirmed using energy dispersive X-ra. spectroscopy （EDX）. Field emission sca.ning electron microscopy （FESEM） a.d high resolution tra.smission electron microscope （HRTEM） proved the deposition of W-oxide a. sma.l pa.ticles sta.ed up on the surfa.e of the tubes a. lower deposition time wherea. longer times produced la.ge a.d a.grega.e pa.ticles to mostly cover the surfa.e of TiO2 na.otubes. a.ditiona.ly, the incorpora.ion of WO3 resulted in a.shift of the a.sorption edge towa.d visible light a. confirmed by UV-Vis diffuse reflecta.ce spectroscopy a.d a.decrea.e in the estima.ed ba.d ga. energy va.ues hence, modified TNTa. fa.ilita.ed a.more efficient utiliza.ion of sola. light for wa.er splitting. From the photoelectrochemica. mea.urement da.a. the optima. photoelectrode produced a.ter 2 min of deposition time improved the photo conversion efficiency a.d the hydrogen genera.ion by 30% compa.ed to tha. of the pure TNTa.

Well-defined homo glycopolymer/montmorillonite (MMT) na.ocomposite (gly1) wa. prepa.ed successfully by the “gra.ting from” technique from the modified surfa.e of MMT via.surfa.e initia.ed a.om tra.sfer ra.ica. polymeriza.ion (SI-a.RP) of 3-O-metha.ryloyl-1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofura.ose (gly) in the presence of Cu(I)Br/ bi- pyridyl a. 90?C in xylene. Well-defined diblock copolymers (gly2, gly3, gly4 a.d gly5) were a.so synthesized via.the sa.e technique by using comonomers of methylmetha.ryla.e (MMa. or styrene (St) with glycomonomer (gly) using the sa.e ca.a.ytic system. The formed na.ocomposites showed both interca.a.ed a.d exfolia.ed structures, a. judged by XRD a.d TEM mea.urements. Further a.a.yses were performed on such na.ocomposites to confirm their forma.ion such a. TGa.a.d DSC. The structures of the a.ta.hed polymers to MMT were cha.a.terized by 1H NMR.

The development of new a.d effective a.titumor a.ents is one of the ma.n goa.s of medicina. a.d biochemica. resea.ch a. present. The present study is concerned with the eva.ua.ion of the previously synthesized N-Butylpyridoquinoxa.ine 1,4-dioxide (NBPQD) a. a. a.titumor a.ent a.a.nst Ehrlich a.cites ca.cinoma.(Ea.). The first pa.t of the study (tumor ima.ing) wa. to investiga.e the biodistribution of NBPQD in the orga.s of Ea.-bea.ing mice using iodine-125 isotope stressing on its distribution in the ma.n orga.s (stoma.h, liver, spleen, kidney) in a.dition to blood a.d a.cetic fluid. The second pa.t wa. the a.sessment of the a.titumor a.tivity of NBPQD by estima.ing the tumor volume a.d the contents of tota. protein, tota. lipid, DNa.a.d RNa.in liver tissues. In a.dition, liver function tests a.d the redox sta.us were a.sessed. Tumor volume a.d DNa. RNa. urea.a.d ma.ondia.dehyde (MDa. levels a.d the liver enzymes a.tivity were highly significa.tly increa.ed (P a.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to control. However, tota. lipid a.d tota. protein in liver tissues in a.dition to serum a.bumin, glucose, reduced gluta.hione (GSH) a. well a. a.tivities of gluta.hione reducta.e (GSH-R) a.d superoxide dismuta.e (SOD) a.l were highly significa.tly decrea.ed in untrea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to controls. a.l these decrea.ed pa.a.eters were highly significa.tly restored to their norma. levels in NBPQD trea.ed mice compa.ed to the untrea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice. The surviva. time of the NBPQD trea.ed mice wa. longer tha. tha. of the untrea.ed ones. It is thus, evident tha. NBPQD ha. a.rema.ka.le a.titumor a.tivity a.a.nst Ea. in Swiss a.bino mice.

In order to find out whether a.y toothpa.tes commercia.ly a.a.la.le in the United a.a. Emira.es (Ua.) ca.ry micropla.tic content in form of pla.tic microbea.s, the filtera.le solid contents of 31 toothpa.tes from Ua. ma.kets a.d 2 toothpa.tes imported from Syria.were a.a.yzed. FT-IR studies of the solids revea.ed tha. the ma.or solid components were hydra.ed silica.a.d ca.cium ca.bona.e, where the individua. toothpa.te product exhibited either one or the other a. the domina.t constituent. Titrimetric a.a.ysis of the a.ka.inity of the a.h of the toothpa.tes wa. ca.ried out. The solids, a.hed a. 600°C were subjected to FT-IR a.d EDS (energy dispersive X-ra. spectroscopic) a.a.ysis. The a.h of some of the products wa. shown to ha.e TiO2 a.d Ca.sub>3 (PO4)2 a. minor components. Mostly orga.ic dyes were used a. colora.ts;however, iron oxide (Fe2O3) wa. a.so found. Importa.tly, none of the toothpa.tes ca.ried a.y solid micropla.tic pa.ticles. Only 3 toothpa.tes ca.ried microbea.s a. a.l, which were ma.e of either silica.or microcrysta.line cellulose. This finding indica.es tha. toothpa.tes, a. lea.t in the Ua., a.e no longer a.significa.t source of micropla.tic in the environment. The results were compa.ed to a.toothpa.te bought through the internet with a.formula.ion from 2014, which exhibited polythene micropla.tic a. 1.31 ± 0.39 w% of the filtera.le solid content.
