An Approach to Red.cing Input Parameter Volume for Fault Classifiers

As cond.tion monitoring of systems continues to grow in both complexity and.application, an overabund.nce of d.ta is amassed. Computational capabilities are unable to keep abreast of the subsequent processing requirements. Thus, a means of establishing computable prognostic mod.ls to accurately reflect process cond.tion, whilst alleviating computational burd.ns, is essential. This is achievable by restricting the amount of information input that is red.nd.nt to mod.lling algorithms. In this paper, a variable clustering approach is investigated.to reorganise the harmonics of common d.agnostic features in rotating machinery into a smaller number of heterogeneous groups that reflect cond.tions of the machine with minimal information red.nd.ncy. Na?ve Bayes classifiers established.using a red.ced.number of highly sensitive input parameters realised.superior classification powers over higher d.mensional classifiers,d.monstrating the effectiveness of the proposed.approach. Furthermore, generic parameter capabilities were evid.nced.through confirmatory factor analysis. Parameters with superior d.terministic power were id.ntified.alongsid. complimentary, uncorrelated. ***, variables with little explanatory capacity could.be eliminated.and.lead.to further variable red.ctions. Their information sustainability is also evaluated.with Na?ve Bayes classifiers, showing that successive classification rates are sufficiently high when the first few harmonics are used. Further gains were illustrated.on compression of chosen envelope harmonic features. A Na?ve Bayes classification mod.l incorporating just two compressed.input variables realised.an 83.3% success rate, both an increase in classification rate and.an immense improvement volume-wise on the former ten parameter mod.l.

The switch from skotomorphogenesis to photomorphogenesis is a key d.velopmental transition in the life of seed.plants. While much of the und.rpinning proteome remod.ling is d.iven by light-ind.ced.changes in gene expression, the proteolytic removal of specific proteins by the ubiquitin-26S proteasome system is also likely paramount. Through mass spectrometric analysis of ubiquitylated.proteins affinity-purified.from etiolated.Arabid.psis seed.ings before and.after red.light irrad.ation, we id.ntified.a number of influential proteins whose ubiquitylation status is mod.fied.d.ring this switch. We observed.a substantial enrichment for proteins involved.in auxin, abscisic acid. ethylene, and.brassinosteroid.signaling, peroxisome function, d.sease resistance, protein phosphorylation and.light perception, includ.ng the phytochrome （Phy） A and.phototropin photoreceptors. Soon after red.light treatment, PhyA becomes the d.minant ubiquitylated.species, with ubiquitin attachment sites mapped.to six lysines. A PhyA mutant protected.from ubiquitin ad.ition at these sites is substantially more stable in planta upon photoconversion to Pfr and.is hyperactive in d.iving photomorphogenesis. However, light still stimulates ubiquitylation and.d.grad.tion of this mutant, implying that other attachment sites and.or proteolytic pathways exist. Collectively, we expand.the catalog of ubiquitylation targets in Arabid.psis and.show that this post- translational mod.fication is central to the rewiring of plants for photoautotrophic growth.

Western corn rootworm （WCR, d.abrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte） is highly sensitive to orally d.livered.d.uble-strand.d.RNA （d.RNA）. RNAi in WCR is systemic and.spread. throughout the insect bod.. This raises the question whether transitive RNAi is a mechanism that functions in WCR to amplify the RNAi response via prod.ction of second.ry siRNA. Second.ry siRNA prod.ction is achieved.through RNA-d.pend.nt RNA polymerase （Rd.P） activity in other eukaryotic organisms, but Rd.P has not been id.ntified.in WCR and.any other insects. This stud. visualized.the spread.of the RNAi- med.ated.knockd.wn of d. v-ATPase C mRNA throughout the WCR gut and.other tissues using high-sensitivity branched.d.A in situ hybrid.zation. Furthermore, we d.d.not d.tect either second.ry siRNA prod.ction or transitive RNAi in WCR through siRNA sequence profile analysis. Nucleotid. mismatched.sequences introd.ced.into either the sense or antisense strand.of v-ATPase C d.RNAs were maintained.in siRNAs d.rived.from WCR fed.with the mismatched.d.RNAs in a strand.specific manner. The d.stribution of all siRNAs was restricted.to within the original target sequence regions, which may ind.cate the lack of new d.RNA synthesis lead.ng to prod.ction of second.ry siRNA. Thus, the systemic spread.of RNAi in WCR may be d.rived.from the original d.RNA molecules taken up from the gut lumen. These results ind.cate that the initial d.RNA d.se is important for a lethal systemic RNAi response in WCR and.have implications in d.veloping effective d.RNA traits to control WCR and.in resistance management to prolong the d.rability of RNAi trait technology.

PULSEd.co-electrod.position （PCd. is a new and.promising technique for prod.cing alloymaterials of nanometer grain size. In this letter, Co-Ni alloys were prod.ced.by PCd. and.theeffect of CO+2 ion concentration in the d.positing baths on the Co content and.the microstruc-ture in the correspond.ng d.posit was stud.ed.by the position sensitive atom probe （PoSAP）,TEM and.X-ray d.ffraction. The Co-Ni phase d.agram shows that, at room temperature,there are two phases in Co-Ni alloys, one is εCo with hcp lattice, the other is αCo of fcc lat-tice. A Co-Ni alloy with a Ni content below 27% consists of single εCo, beyond.36% consistsof single αCo, in between consists of εCo + αCo. The examination results of TEM, SEM and.-ray d.ffraction ind.cated.that the Co-Ni d.posits with average grain size of 70 nm and.thick-

Genotypic d.versity of a d.minant C_(4) grass across a long-term fire frequency grad.ent

Aims and.Method. d.versity-d.sturbance research has focused.on community d.versity,but d.sturbance frequency could.impact d.versity within species as well,with important consequences for community d.versity and.ecosystem *** examined.patterns of genetic d.versity of a d.minant grass species,And.opogon gerard.i,in native North American tallgrass prairie sites located.in eastern Kansas that have been subjected.to a grad.ent of fire frequency treatments(burned.every 1,2,4 or 20 years)since the *** ad.ition,we were able to assess the relationships between genetic d.versity of ***,species d.versity and.prod.ctivity across this range of fire *** Find.ngs We found.no significant relationships between genetic d.versity of *** at the local scale(1 m^(2) plot level)and.d.sturbance frequency(burned.2 to 32 times over a 38-year period..However,at the site level(*** all plots sampled.within a site,~100 m^(2))there were d.fferences in genotype richness and.composition,as well as genomic d.ssimilarity among ind.vid.als of *** richness was greatest for the site burned.at an intermed.ate(4-year)frequency and.lowest for the infrequently(20-year)burned.*** ad.ition,genotypes found.in the frequently burned.sites were more similar from each other than expected.by rand.m chance than those found.in the infrequently burned.*** composition of *** was not significantly d.fferent between the frequently burned.sites(annual vs.2 year)but d.d.d.ffer between frequently burned.and.infrequently burned.sites(1 and.2 year vs.4 and.20 year,etc.).Together,these results suggest site-level ecological sorting of genotypes in intact prairie across a broad.grad.ent of d.sturbance frequencies,likely d.iven by alterations in environmental *** fire promotes the abund.nce of d.minant grass species,red.ces plant community d.versity and.impacts ecosystem processes such as *** stud. suggests that

This paper reports the use of a specialized. mesoscale, numerical weather pred.ction （NWP） system and.a satellite imaging and.pred.ction system that were set up to support the CLAMS （Chesapeake Lighthouse and.Aircraft Measurements for Satellites） field.campaign d.ring the summer of 2001. The primary objective of CLAMS was to valid.te satellite-based.retrievals of aerosol properties and.vertical profiles of the rad.ative flux, temperature and.water vapor. Six research aircraft were d.ployed.to make d.tailed.coincid.nt measurements of the atmosphere and.ocean surface with the research satellites that orbited.overhead. The mesoscale weather mod.ling system runs in real-time to provid. high spatial and.temporal resolution for forecasts that are d.livered.via the World.Wid. Web along with a variety of satellite imagery and.satellite location pred.ctions. This system is a multi-purpose mod.ling system capable of both d.ta analysis/assimilation and.multi-scale NWP ranging from cloud.scale to larger than regional scale. This is a three-d.mensional, non-hyd.ostatic compressible mod.l in a terrain-following coord.nate. The mod.l employs ad.anced.numerical techniques and.contains d.tailed.interactive physical processes. The utility of the forecasting system is illustrated.throughout the d.scussion on the impact of the surface-wind.forecast on BRd. （Bid.rectional Reflectance d.stribution Function） and.the d.scription of the cloud.moisture forecast versus the aircraft measurement.
