目的：为了解血吸虫病流行现状和评价１９９０－１９９５年的血吸虫病防治效果，于１９９５年９－１１月开展了全国血吸虫病流行病学调查。方法：采用分层整群随机抽样法进行调查。在未控制流行地区，对居民血吸虫感染，采用尼龙绢袋集... 详细信息

目的：为了解血吸虫病流行现状和评价１９９０－１９９５年的血吸虫病防治效果，于１９９５年９－１１月开展了全国血吸虫病流行病学调查。方法：采用分层整群随机抽样法进行调查。在未控制流行地区，对居民血吸虫感染，采用尼龙绢袋集卵孵化法和改良加藤法检查粪便，对耕牛等家畜，采用尼龙绢袋集卵孵化法检查粪便。同时，对部分居民询检症状、体征；并调查晚期血吸虫病。在已控制流行地区，先以环卵沉淀试验或间接血凝试验检查初筛，阳性者再以尼龙绢袋集卵孵化法和改良加藤法粪检。结果：在未控制流行地区，样本村１９５个，检查２２４８１９人，居民粪检阳性率为４．９％，耕牛粪检阳性率为９．０６％。在已控制流行县中，样本村１６９个，检查１８３０２人，在湖北和四川两省查出粪检阳性者１７例。推算感染者为８６５０８４例，推算病牛为１００２５１头。结论：推算感染者例数较１９８９年的下降４７．２％，病牛头数约５０％。

Products of Chicken Embryo (PCE) such as Ji-Pei-Jing is a kind of food for Chinese children prepard from chicken embryo. Female rats on 21 days were administered with aqueous solutions of Ji-Pei-Jing (1. 2 %, 3 %, 12%, and 48%, respectively) by gavage up to their onsets of *** rats in the control group were treated with distilled water. However, Ji-Pei-Jing treatment exerted some effects on sexual mauration in the immature female rats. Essentially, the effects showed a dose-response tendency with an inverted 'U' *** age of vopnal opening for gnup treated with Ji-Pei-Jing was significantly earier than that to the control. Its uterus weight/b. w. ratio also significantly increased on day 30 and at the first estrus. There were significantly increases in the adrenal weight/b. w. raio of 30-day-old rats that were treated with 3%, 12%, and 48% Ji-Pei-Jing. The rats treated with 48% Ji-Pei-Jing had significantly lesser ovary weight.b.w. radio on day 30, too. The rats treated with Ji-Pei-Jing could normally ovulate at the first estrus, and no significant differences were observed during estrous *** effects of PCE on serum levels of K, P, LH in 30-day-old nds and FSH in 28-day-old ras were elevated significantly by 3 % Ji-Pei-Jing treatment. It appeare that the effects of PCE result from interaction of contained complex physiologically active substances. Steriods, especially estradio-17β,possibly Play a key role, and polpeptide hormones may also exert important effects.

Pathological effects of asbestos are probably dependent on the special surface properties of the fibers, such as surface charge, surface metal ions. The present study was designed to determine whether the pretreatment of chrysotile asbestos fibers (CAF) with rare earth compounds (REC) solution can reduce their pathogenicity. The results showed that REC-pretreated CAF induced less nitrogen oxide (NO) production by alveolar macrophages (AM). In addition, the pretreatment lowered the capacity of hemolysis and the methylene blue (MB) adsorption of the native CAF. These findings suggested that the pretreatment of CAF with REC solution reduced the in vitro toxicity of CAF by lessening its surface charges. Nevertheless, the pathogenicity and the carcinogenicity of REC-pretreated CAF in vivo remain to be investigated.

Persistent organic pollutants(POPs),such as dioxins,polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) ,and organochlorine pesticides(OCPs),which are synthetic chemicals or by-products with an intrinsic resistance to natural degradation processes,are released into the environment,resulting in the widespread dispersal and accumulation in the environment,as well as in human and ecological food *** to their ubiquity in the environment and lipophilic properties,there is emerging concern over the potential risks of human exposure to *** growing evidence indicated that exposure to POPs might be strongly associated with increased risk of a worldwide epidemic of diabetes,especially type 2 diabetes,suggesting that POPs might play a key role in their *** on summary of the related studies,this paper reviews the epidemiologic and experimental data that addresses the association between increased risk of diabetes and POP exposure,including dioxins,PCBs,OCPs,polybrominated flame retardants(PBFRs),and some environmental *** potential mechanisms whereby POPs cause diabetes were discussed,such as alterations in lipid metabolism,in glucose transport,in insulin signaling pathway,in steroid metabolism,and disruption of endocrine system,induction of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) .However,with respect to diabetes,some of the evidence on POPs linked to risk of diabetes was suggestive of a direct or indirect association but was limited or *** research is urgently needed for determining the relative contribution of POPs to diabetes and elucidating the exact mechanisms.

Background Vitamin D3 and its metabolites have been found to exert immunosuppressive effects both in vivo and in vitro. We investigated the synergistic effect of calcitriol and cyclosporine A （CsA） on lymphocyte proliferation in vitro and graft rejection following rat liver allotransplantations in vivo. Methods Alloantigen driven, human peripheral mononuclear cells＇ proliferation and cytokine production capacity were tested in the presence or absence of various concentrations of calcitriol or CsA. In vivo, liver allografts were transplanted in a high responder strain combination （SD to Wistar） rats and combination of subtherapeutical dose of CsA and calcitriol was administered in recipients, whereas the control recipients received single or no immunosuppressant. Proliferation of splenocyte from recipient was tested with mixed lymphocyte reaction. Serum intedeukin-2 （IL-2） and interferon gamma （IFN-γ） concentrations were measured with enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results Combined medication of 10^-9 mol/L calcitriol and 100 ng/ml CsA inhibited human peripheral mononuclear cells＇ proliferation to alloantigen and the production of IL-2 and IFN-γ but promoted that of IL-4 and IL-10. Similarly, combination of 250 ng · kg^-1·-d^-1 calcitriol and 1.0 mg · kg^-1·-d^-1 CsA showed an additive effect in liver transplant model. It restrained splenocyte proliferation to alloantigen from donor and significantly reduced serum concentration of IL-2 and IFN-γ in recipients. Consequently, aUograft rejection in combined medication group was minor （median William＇s grade was 1.0 vs 3.0 in combined medication group and in the control group, P〈0.05） and the recipients＇ survival was evidently prolonged [（93.7±5.8） days vs （12.6±1.4） days in combined medication group and in the control group, P〈0.01 ]. Editorial comment Translational medicine is a new discipline which aims to eliminate the barrier between preclinical and clinical medicine. Here, Dr. Li discusses the application of translational medicine in the research, teaching and clinical work of Prof. Liu Shih-Hao, the founder of endocrinology in China, who was particularly renowned for his early work in calcium and phosphorus metabolism. This well-known success story can be traced back to an early appreciation of translational medicine by Prof. Liu Shih-Hao, and serves as an important and revelatory lesson for us all.
