Me.cury（Hg） in the Arctic is a significant conce.n due.to its bioaccumulative.and ne.rotoxic prope.tie., and the se.sitivity of Arctic e.vironme.ts. Pre.ious re.e.rch has found high le.e.s of Hg in snowpacks with high chloride.Cl-） conce.trations. We.hypothesise. that Cl- would incre.se.Hg re.e.tion by de.re.sing Hg photore.uction to Hg（0） in me.te. Arctic snow. To te.t this, change. in Hg photore.uction kine.ics in me.te. Ale.t, NU snow we.e.quantifie. with changing Cl- conce.tration and UV inte.sity. Snow was colle.te. and me.te. in Te.lon bottle. in May 2014, spike. with 0–10 μg/g Cl-, and irradiate. with 3.52–5.78 W·m-2 UV（280–400 nm）radiation in a Luz Chem photore.ctor. Photore.uction rate.constants（k）（0.14–0.59 hr-1） had positive.line.r re.ationships with [Cl-], while.photore.uce. Hg amounts（Hg（Ⅱ）re.） had ne.ative.line.r re.ationships with [Cl-]（1287–64 pg in 200 g me.te. snow）. Varying UV and[Cl-] both alte.e. Hg（Ⅱ）re. amounts, with more.e.ficie.t Hg stabilisation by Cl- at higher UV inte.sity, while.k can be.pre.icte. by Cl- conce.tration and/or UV inte.sity, de.e.ding on e.pe.ime.tal parame.e.s. Ove.all, with future.proje.tions for gre.te. snowpack Cl- loading,our e.pe.ime.tal re.ults sugge.t that more.Hg could be.de.ive.e. to Arctic aquatic e.osyste.s by me.te. snow（smalle. Me.hylme.cury（Me.g） bioaccumulation is a growing conce.n in e.osyste.s worldwide. The absorption of solar radiation by dissolve. organic matte.（DOM） and other photore.ctive.ligands can conve.t Me.g into le.s toxic forms of me.cury through photode.e.hylation. In this study, spe.tral change. and photore.ctivity of DOM we.e.me.sure. to asse.s the pote.tial to control photore.ctions and pre.ict in situ Me.g conce.tration. Wate. sample. colle.te. from a se.ie. of lake. in southwe.te.n Nova Scotia in June. August, and Se.te.be. we.e.e.pose. to controlle. ultraviole.-A（UV-A） radiation for up to 24 hr. Dissolve. organic matte. photore.ctivity, me.sure. as the loss of absorbance.at 350 nm at constant UV-A irradiation, was positive.y de.e.de.t on the initial DOM conce.tration in lake.wate.s（r^2=0.94）. This re.ationship was consiste.t ove. time.with both DOM conce.tration and photore.ctivity incre.sing from summe. into fall across lake.. Lake.in situ Me.g conce.tration was positive.y corre.ate. with DOM conce.tration and like.y catchme.t transport in June.r = 0.77） but not the other sampling months. Me.cury is a globally distribute., e.vironme.tal contaminant. Quantifying the re.e.tion and loss of me.cury is inte.ral for pre.icting me.cury-se.sitive.e.osyste.s. There.is little.information on how dissolve. organic carbon（DOC） conce.trations and particulate. affe.t me.cury photore.ction kine.ics in fre.hwate. lake.. To addre.s this knowle.ge.gap,sample. we.e.colle.te. from te. lake. in Ke.imkujik National Park, Nova Scotia（DOC： 2.6–15.4 mg/L）. Filte.e.（0.2 μm） and unfilte.e. sample. we.e.analyse. for gross photore.uction, gross photooxidation, and ne. re.uction rate. of me.cury using pse.do first-orde. curve.. Unfilte.e. sample. had higher conce.trations（p = 0.04） of photore.ucible.divale.t me.cury（Hg（II）Re.）（me.n of 754 ± 253 pg/L） than filte.e. sample.（me.n of 482 ± 206 pg/L）;howe.e., gross photore.uction and photooxidation rate.constants we.e.not significantly diffe.e.t in filte.e. or unfilte.e. sample. in e.rly summe.. DOC was not significantly re.ate. to gross photore.uction rate.constants in filte.e.（R2= 0.43; p = 0.08） and unfilte.e.（R2= 0.02; p = 0.71） sample.; DOC was also not significantly re.ate. to gross photooxidation rate.constants in filte.e. or unfilte.e. sample.. Howe.e., DOC was significantly ne.ative.y re.ate. with Hg（Ⅱ）Re. in unfilte.e.（R2= 0.53; p = 0.04）, but not in filte.e. sample.（R2= 0.04;p = 0.60）. Fourspine.Stickle.ack（Ape.te. quadracus）, inve.te.rate.（snails,amphipods, and chironomids）, se.ime.ts, and wate. we.e.colle.te. from te. site. along the Saint John Rive. e.tuary, Ne. Brunswick, Canada in 2015 and 2016, with salinitie. ranging from 0.06 to 6.96. Total me.cury（proxy for Me.g） was me.sure. in whole.fish and Me.g was me.sure. in a subse. of fish, poole. inve.te.rate., se.ime.ts, and wate.. Stable.sulfur（δ34S）, carbon（δ13 C）, and nitroge.（δ15N） isotope.value. we.e.me.sure. to asse.s e.e.gy source.（S, C） and re.ative.trophic le.e.（N）. There.we.e.incre.se. in biotic δ13C and δ34S from fre.h to more.saline.site. and these.me.sure. we.e.corre.ate. with *** aque.us Me.g was higher at the fre.hwate. than more.saline.site., only chironomid Me.g incre.se. significantly with salinity.
