Accuracy of a combined score of zygote and embryo morphology for selecting the best embryos for IVF

Objective:To evaluate the accuracy of a scoring system combining zygote and embryo morphology in predicting the outcome of in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Methods: In a study group, 117 consecutive IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycles with embryo transfer were carried out and 312 embryos were scored using a combined scoring system (CSS) of zygote and embryo morphology before transplantation. In a control group, a total of 420 IVF or ICSI cycles were carried out and 1176 embryos were scored using a cumulative embryo score (CES). The effects of the combined scoring system on the embryo implantation rate and pregnancy rate per cycle were analyzed. Results: Using the combined scoring system, the embryo implan-tation rate (27.6%) and the clinical pregnancy rate (48.7%) were significantly higher than those in the control group (20.8% and 38.6%, respectively). Also, the implantation rate of embryos scoring ≥70 (38.5%: 82 sacs/213 embryos) was significantly higher (Phe pregnancy rate of patients with embryos scoring ≥70 using the combined scoring system (66.7%) was significantly higher (Phe cumulative embryo score (59.0%). Conclusion: The results suggest that selecting embryos with a high score (≥70) using the combined scoring system could increase the implantation rate and pregnancy rate, and that using a scoring system combining assessments of human zygotes and pre-implantation embryos might predict IVF outcomes more accurately than using a cumula-tive embryo score.

Enhanced hepatic metabolic perturbation of polystyrene nanoplastics by UV irradiation-induced hydroxyl radical generation

The environmental behavior of and risks associated with nanoplastics(NPs)have attracted considerable ***,compared to pristine NPs,environmental factors such as ultraviolet(UV)irradiation that lead to changes in the toxicity of NPs have rarely been *** evaluated the changes in morphology and physicochemical properties of polystyrene(PS)NPs before and after UV irradiation,and compared their hepatotoxicity in *** results showed that UV irradiation caused particle size reduction and increased the carbonyl index(CI)and negative charge on the particle ***-aged PS NPs(aPS NPs)could induce the generation of hydroxyl radicals(·OH),but also further promoted the generation of·OH in the Fenton reaction *** pathological damage was more severe in mice exposed to aPS NPs,accompanied by a large number of vacuoles and hepatocyte balloon-like changes and more marked perturbations in blood glucose and serum lipoprotein,alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase *** addition,exposure to PS NPs and aPS NPs,especially aPS NPs,triggered oxidative stress and significantly damaged the antioxidant capacity of mice *** with PS NPs,exposure to aPS NPs increased the number of altered metabolites in hepatic and corresponding metabolic pathways,especially glutathione *** research suggests that UV irradiation can disrupt the redox balance in organisms by promoting the production of·OH,enhancing PS NPs-induced liver damage and metabolic *** study will help us understand the health risks of NPs and to avoid underestimation of the risks of NPs in nature.

Distributed Nash Equilibrium Seeking on Compact Action Sets over Jointly Strongly Connected Switching Networks

CD36 stands as the predominant fatty acid transporter within cardiomyocytes, and its function is intricately tied to its expression and localization(Glatz and Luiken 2018; Shu et al. 2022). Despite recent progress in elucidating the mechanisms behind CD36's hyperactivity, strategies to manage its localization are still emerging.

MGCPN:An Efficient Deep Learning Model for Tibetan Plateau Precipitation Nowcasting Based on the IMERG Data

The sparse and uneven placement of rain gauges across the Tibetan Plateau(TP) impedes the acquisition of precise,high-resolution precipitation measurements,thus challenging the reliability of forecast *** address such a challenge,we introduce a model called Multisource Generative Adversarial Network-Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory(GAN-ConvLSTM) for Precipitation Nowcasting(MGCPN),which utilizes data products from the Integrated Multi-satellite Retrievals for global precipitation measurement(IMERG) data,offering high spatiotemporal resolution precipitation forecasts for upcoming periods ranging from 30 to 300 *** results of our study confirm that the implementation of the MGCPN model successfully addresses the problem of underestimating and blurring precipitation results that often arise with increasing forecast *** issue is a common challenge in precipitation forecasting ***,we have used multisource spatiotemporal datasets with integrated geographic elements for training and prediction to improve model *** model demonstrates its competence in generating precise precipitation nowcasting with IMERG data,offering valuable support for precipitation research and forecasting in the TP *** metrics results obtained from our study further emphasize the notable advantages of the MGCPN model;it outperforms the other considered models in the probability of detection(POD),critical success index,heidke Skill Score,and mean absolute error,especially showing improvements in POD by approximately 33%,19%,and 8% compared to Convolutional Gated Recurrent Unit(ConvGRU),ConvLSTM,and small Attention-UNet(SmaAt-UNet) models.

Changes of nutrients and microbial communities in recovery process of abandoned rare earth tailings

Rare earth element(REE)mining has wrought severe ecosystem destruction,particularly in the loss of carbon(C),nitrogen(N),and phosphorus(P).Furthermore,its effects on nutrient recovery characteristics and associated microbial abundance are still poorly *** this study,an investigation was conducted to determine C,N,and P recovery patterns and microbial communities in abandoned REE mining tailings with different abandoned durations of 1.5(1.5-Y),7(7-Y),10(10-Y),and 14(14-Y)years and at an unmined site(the control group)in Jiangxi Province,*** tailing delamination at each site was investigated in 0–15(layer 1)and 15–30(layer 2)cm tailing *** the abandoned duration of REE tailings,C and P in layer 1 continued to recover from 1.62 to 8.51 g kg^(-1) and from 0.71 to 1.94 g kg^(-1),respectively;N losses of 0.60 and 0.22 g kg^(-1) occurred at the 1.5-Y and 10-Y sites,while N in layer 1 slightly increased at the 14-Y ***,Methylosinus,Bradyrhizobium,Pseudomonas,and Azospirillum were dominant bacteria at the 14-Y site and in the *** relative abundances of N-fixing bacteria Mesorhizobium(32.94%),Sinorhizobium(0.24%),Frankia(0.71%),and Burkholderia(2.38%)at the 14-Y site were 1.33–3.97 times those in the control(24.19%,0.18%,0.32%and 0.60%,respectively),which was helpful for tailing N *** the 14-Y site,Tylospora(50.24%),Luellia(11.02%),Tomentella(6.94%),and Chaetomium(4.34%)were the dominant fungal genera,while Tylospora(56.93%),Suillus(11.45%),and Penicillium(6.78%)predominated in the *** relative abundance of the P-dissolving fungus Aspergillus at the 14-Y site(0.42%)was 4.2 times that in the control(0.1%),which may lead to the improved tailing P *** the 14-Y site,woody plants such as Pinus massoniana and native pioneering herbs and ferns such as Dicranopteris dichotoma and Nephrolepis auriculata probably invaded from adjacent *** study unraveled the natural restoration of plant and micro

During ultradeep oil and gas drilling,fluid loss reducers are highly important for water-based drilling fluids,while preparing high temperature-and salt-resistance fluid loss reducers with excellent rheology and filtration performance remains a ***,a micro-crosslinked amphoteric hydrophobic association copolymer(i.e.,DADC)was synthesized using N,N-dimethyl acrylamide,diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride,2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid,hydrophobic monomer,and pentaerythritol triallyl ether *** to the synergistic effects of hydrogen bonds,electrostatic interaction,hydrophobic association,and micro-crosslinking,the DADC copolymer exhibited outstanding temperature-and *** rheological experiments have shown that the DADC copolymer had excellent shear dilution performance and a certain degree of salt-responsive viscosity-increasing *** DADC copolymer could effectively adsorb on the surface of bentonite particles through electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonds,which bring more negative charge to the bentonite,thus improving the hydration and dispersion of bentonite particles as well as the colloidal stability of the drilling ***,the drilling fluids constructed based on the DADC copolymer exhibited satisfactory rheological and filtration properties(FLHTHP=12 m L)after aging at high temperatures(up to200℃)and high salinity(saturated salt)***,this work provided new insights into designing and fabricating high-performance drilling fluid treatment agents,demonstrating good potential applications in deep and ultradeep drilling engineering.
