Superstable homogeneous lipiodol-ICG formulation:initial feasibility and first-in-human clinical application for ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma

The most common treatment of spontaneous tumor rupture hemorrhage(STRH)is transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE)followed by liver resection,and surgical navigation using near-infrared fluorescence is effective method for detecting hidden lesions and ill-defined tumor ***,due to the blockage of the tumor-supplying artery after effective TAE treatment,it is difficult to deliver sufficient fluorescent probes to the tumor *** this study,we report on the successful application of superstable homogeneous intermixed formulation technology(SHIFT)in precise conversion hepatectomy for ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).A homogeneous lipiodol-ICG formulation obtained by SHIFT(SHIFT-ICG)was developed for clinical practice for STRH.A ruptured HCC patient received the combined protocol for embolization and fluorescence surgical navigation and exhibited excellent hemostatic *** and ICG were both effectively deposited in the primary lesion,including a small metastatic *** follow-up laparoscopic hepatectomy,SHIFT-ICG could clearly and precisely image the full tumor regions and boundaries in real time,and even indistinguishable satellite lesions still expressed a remarkable fluorescence *** conclusion,the simple and green SHIFT-ICG formulation can be effectively used in emergency embolization hemostasis and later precise fluorescence navigation hepatectomy in patients with ruptured HCC bleeding and has high clinical application value.

Background:Data on the incidence,mortality,and other burden of oral cancer as well as their secular trends are necessary to provide policy-makers with the information needed to allocate resources *** purpose of this study was to use the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)2017 results to estimate the incidence,mortality,and disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)for oral cancer from 1990 to ***:We collected detailed data on oral cancer from 1990 to 2017 from the GBD *** global incidence,mortality,and DALYs attributable to oral cancer as well as the corresponding age-standardized rates(ASRs)were *** estimated annual percentage changes in the ASRs of incidence(ASRI)and mortality(ASRM)and age-standardized DALYs of oral cancer were also calculated according to regions and countries to quantify the secular trends in these ***:We tracked the incidence,mortality,and DALYs of oral cancer in 195 countries/territories over 28 ***,the incidence,mortality,and DALYs of oral cancer increased by about 1.0-fold from 1990 to *** ASRI of oral cancer showed a similar trend,increasing from 4.41 to 4.84 per 100,000 person-years during the study *** ASRM remained approximately stable at about 2.4 per 100,000 from 1990 to 2017,as did the age-standardized DALYs,at about 64.0 per 100,000 *** was highest in Pakistan(27.03/100,000,95%CI=22.13-32.75/100,000),followed by Taiwan China,and lowest in Iraq(0.96/100,000,95%CI=0.86-1.06/100,000).ASRM was highest in Pakistan(16.85/100,000,95%CI=13.92-20.17/100,000)and lowest in Kuwait(0.51/100,000,95%CI=0.45-0.58/100,000).Conclusions:The ASRI of oral cancer has increased slightly worldwide,while the ASRM and age-standardized DALY have remained ***,these characteristics vary between countries,suggesting that current prevention strategies should be reoriented,and much more targeted and specific strategies should be established in some countries to forestall the incre

Rocky Desertification Risk Zone Delineation in Karst Plateau Area:A Case Study in Puding County,Guizhou Province

Karst rocky desertification is a geo-ecological problem in Southwest China. The rocky desertification risk zone delineation could be used as a guide for the regional and hierarchical rocky desertification management and prevention. We chose the middle and lower reaches of the Houzhai underground basin on the karst plateau in Puding County, Guizhou Province, China as the study area and selected land use type, elevation, slope, aspect, lithology and settlement buffer as the main driving factors of the rocky desertification. The potential risk of rocky desertification was quantifed with the factor-weights union method and statistical analysis method. Five grades of rocky desertification risk were delineated based on Geographic Information System. The extremely low, low, moderate, high and extremely high rocky desertification risk zones accounted for 5.01%, 44.17%, 33.92%, 15.59% and 1.30%, respectively. As a whole, the rocky desertification risk level was moderate because the area of low and moderate rocky desertification risk zones occupied 78.09% of the study area. However, more than half of the area （about 50.81%） was predicted to have moderate rocky desertification risk and above, indicating that the study area was subject to rocky desertification. Rocky desertification risk was higher in the southeast and lower in the northwest of the study area. Distinct differences in the distribution of rocky desertification risk zones corresponding to different factors have been found.

Novel electromagnetic wave modulation by programmable dynamic metasurface promotes the device design freedom,while multibeam antennas have sparked tremendous interest in wireless communications.A programmable coding antenna based on active metasurface elements(AMSEs)is proposed in this study,allowing scanning and state switching of multiple beams in real *** obtain the planar array phase distribution in quick response,the aperture field superposition and discretization procedures are *** the need for a massive algorithm or elaborate design,this electronically controlled antenna with integrated radiation and phase-shift functions can flexibly manipulate the scattering state of multiple beams under field-programmable gate array(FPGA)*** and experimental results show that the multiple directional beams dynamically generated in the metasurface upper half space have good radiation performance,with the main lobe directions closely matching the predesigned *** metasurface antenna has great potential for future applications in multitarget radar,satellite navigation,and reconfigurable intelligent metasurfaces.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase,carboxyl terminus of heat shock protein 70(Hsp70)interacting protein(CHIP),also functions as a co-chaperone and plays a crucial role in the protein quality control *** this study,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of overexpressed CHIP on Alzheimer’s *** used an adeno-associated virus vector that can cross the blood-brain barrier to mediate CHIP overexpression in APP/PS1 mouse *** overexpression significantly ameliorated the performance of APP/PS1 mice in the Morris water maze and nest building tests,reduced amyloid-βplaques,and decreased the expression of both amyloid-βand phosphorylated *** also alleviated the concentration of microglia and astrocytes around *** APP/PS1 mice of a younger age,CHIP overexpression promoted an increase in ADAM10 expression and inhibitedβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,insulin degrading enzyme,and neprilysin *** of HSP70 and HSP40,which have functional relevance to CHIP,were also *** nuclei transcriptome sequencing in the hippocampus of CHIP overexpressed mice showed that the lysosomal pathway and oligodendrocyte-related biological processes were up-regulated,which may also reflect a potential mechanism for the neuroprotective effect of *** research shows that CHIP effectively reduces the behavior and pathological manifestations of APP/PS1 ***,overexpression of CHIP could be a beneficial approach for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Organic ligand-induced dissolution kinetics of antimony trioxide

The influence of low-molecular-weight dissolved organic matter （LMWDOM） on the dissolution rate of Sb203 was investigated. Some representative LMWDOMs with carboxyl, hydroxyl, hydrosulfuryl and amidogen groups occurring naturally in the solution were chosen, namely oxalic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid, EDTA, salicylic acid, phthalandione, glycine, thiolactic acid, xylitol, glucose and catechol. These LMWDOMs were dissolved in inert buffers at pH = 3.7, 6.6 and 8.6 and added to powdered Sb203 in a stirred, thermostatted reactor （25℃）. The addition of EDTA, tartaric acid, thiolactic acid, citric acid and oxalic acid solutions at pH 3.7 and catechol at pH 8.6 increased the rate of release of antimony. In the 10 mmol/L thiolactic acid solution, up to 97% by mass of the antimony was released after 120 rain reaction. There was no effect on the dissolution of Sb203 for the other ligands. A weak correlation between dissolution rate with the dissociation constant of ligands and the stability of the dissolved complex was also found. All the results showed that the extent of the promoting effect of ligands on the dissolution of Sb203 was not determined by the stability of the dissolved complex, but by the dissociation constant ofligands and detachment rate of surface chelates from the mineral surface. This study can not only help in further understanding the effect of individual low-molecular-weight organic ligands, but also provides a reference to deduce the effect of natural organic matters with oxygen-bearing functional groups on the dissolution of antimony oxide minerals.
