Global and regional trends in the incidence and mortality burden of endometrial cancer,1990–2019:Updated results from the Global Burden of Disease Study,2019

Background:The disease burdens for endometrial cancer(EC)vary across different countries and geographical regions and change every year.herein,we reported the updated results of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019 on EC with respect to age-standardized incidence and mortality from 1990 to 2019.Methods:The annual percentage change(APC)of incidence and mortality was evaluated using joinpoint regression analysis to examine the temporal trends during the same timeframe in terms of the global landscape,different sociodemographic indices(SDI),and geographic regions.The relationship between Human Development Index(HDI)and incidence and mortality was additionally explored.Results:The age-standardized incidence rates(ASIRs)revealed a significant average global elevation by 0.5%per year(95%confidence interval[CI],0.3–0.7;Phe age-standardized mortality rates(ASMRs),in contrast,fell by an average of 0.8%per year(95%CI,−1.0 to−0.7;Phe ASIRs and ASMRs for EC varied across different SDIs and geographical regions.We noted four temporal trends and a significant reduction by 0.5%per year since 2010 in the ASIR,whereas we detected six consecutively decreasing temporal trends in ASMR during the entire period.Notably,the estimated APCs were significantly positively correlated with HDIs(ρ=0.22;95%CI,0.07–0.35;P=0.003)with regard to incident cases in 2019.Conclusions:Incidence rates for EC reflected a significant increase overall(although we observed a decline since 2010),and the death rates declined consecutively from 1990 to 2019.We posit that more precise strategies can be tailored and then implemented based on the distinct age-standardized incidence and mortality burden in different geographical areas.

Reducing the process variation is a significant concern for resistive random access memory(RRAM).Due to its ultrahigh integration density,RRAM arrays are prone to lithographic variation during the lithography process,introducing electrical variation among different RRAM devices.In this work,an optical physical verification methodology for the RRAM array is developed,and the effects of different layout parameters on important electrical characteristics are systematically investigated.The results indicate that the RRAM devices can be categorized into three clusters according to their locations and lithography environments.The read resistance is more sensitive to the locations in the array(~30%)than SET/RESET voltage(he increase in the RRAM device length and the application of the optical proximity correction technique can help to reduce the variation to less than 10%,whereas it reduces RRAM read resistance by 4×,resulting in a higher power and area consumption.As such,we provide design guidelines to minimize the electrical variation of RRAM arrays due to the lithography process.

High-power O-mode radio waves can excite artificial instabilities in the F region,according to experiments conducted at the European Incoherent Scatter Science Association(EISCAT)heating facility.The main instabilities include the parametric decay instability(PDI),oscillating two-stream instability(OTSI),and thermal parametric instability(TPI).The PDI and OTSI not only compete with each other,but also compete with the TPI,leading to a two-stage overshoot phenomenon:a miniovershoot occurs on a millisecond time scale after pump-on,followed by the main overshoot.We gain insight into the miniovershoot via a generalized Zakharov model,whereas the main overshoot can be observed as an enhanced plasma line overshoot phenomenon in incoherent scatter radar spectra.We can also observe that the zero-frequency ion line exists only in the initial heating period after a cold start and that the upshifted and downshifted ion lines behave irregularly in the spectra.The simulation results show that competition between the PDI and OTSI leads to an initial peak,which we named the pre-miniovershoot.The following processes,namely ion density caviton generation,and collapse and cascade in the development of the PDI,contribute to the miniovershoot phenomenon.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are monoclonal antibody antagonists,which can block cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4),programmed death-1/ligand-1 (PD-1/PD-L1) pathways,and other molecules exploited by tumor cells to evade T cell-mediated immune response.ICIs have transformed the treatment landscape for various cancers due to their amazing efficacy.Many anti-tumor therapies,including targeted therapy,radiotherapy,and chemotherapy,combine ICIs to make the treatment more effective.However,the off-target immune activation caused by ICIs may lead to a broad spectrum of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) affecting multiple organ systems.Among irAEs,cardiotoxicity induced by ICIs,uncommon but fatal,has greatly offset survival benefits from ICIs,which is heartbreaking for both patients and clinicians.Consequently,such cardiotoxicity requires special vigilance,and it has become a common challenge both for patients and clinicians.This article reviewed the clinical manifestations and influence of cardiotoxicity from the view of patients and clinicians,elaborated on the underlying mechanisms in conjunction with animal studies,and then attempted to propose management strategies from a cardio-immuno-oncology multidisciplinary perspective.

The quantum anomalous Hall effect（QAhe） has unique advantages in topotronic applications, but it is still challenging to realize the QAhe with tunable magnetic and topological properties for building functional devices. Through systematic first-principles calculations, we predict that the in-plane magnetization induced QAhe with Chern numbers C = ±1 and the out-of-plane magnetization induced QAhe with high Chern numbers C = ±3 can be realized in a single material candidate, which is composed of van der Waals（vdW）coupled Bi and MnBi2Te4monolayers. The switching between different phases of QAhe can be controlled in multiple ways, such as applying strain or（weak） magnetic field or twisting the vdW materials. The prediction of an experimentally available material system hosting robust, highly tunable QAhe will stimulate great research interest in the field. Our work opens a new avenue for the realization of tunable QAhe and provides a practical material platform for the development of topological electronics.

The elastic adhesive contact of self-affine fractal rough surfaces against a rigid flat is simulated using the finite element method. An array of nonlinear springs, of which the force-separation law obeys the Lennard–Jones potential, is introduced to account for the interfacial adhesion. For fractal rough surfaces, the interfacial interaction is generally attractive for large mean gaps, but turns repulsive as the gap continuously shrinks. The interfacial interactions at the turning point corresponding to the spontaneous contact are shown for various surfaces. For relatively smooth surfaces, the probability density distributions of repulsion and attraction are nearly symmetric. However, for rougher surfaces, the simulation results suggest a uniform distribution for attraction but a monotonously decreasing distribution with a long tail for repulsion. The pull-off force rises with increasing ratio of the work of adhesion to the equilibrium distance, whereas decreases for solids with a higher elastic modulus and a larger surface roughness. The current study will be helpful for understanding the adhesion of various types of rough solids.

Pervious concrete is a special type of concrete that is of high porosity and contains no or a small amount of fine aggregate, and it is an important basic material for sponge city construction. The presence of a large number of connected pores inside pervious concrete leads to a marked difference in durability failure mechanism compared with that of ordinary concrete.In this study, the frost resistance and anti-clogging of pervious concrete were introduced in detail, and the methods to improve their performance were summarized systematically. The cracking pattern of pervious concrete is influenced by geometric characteristics and three-dimensional morphological features of pores, resulting in its crack generation, development, and geometry being significantly different from those of ordinary concrete, thus leading to different freeze-thaw cycle mechanisms. In addition,due to its different pore structure compared to ordinary concrete, three types of clogging mechanisms, affecting the long-term permeability of pervious concrete were elaborated systematically(i.e., physical clogging, biological clogging, and chemical clogging). And the ways to improve the anti-clogging of pervious concrete are systematically presented from multiple perspectives. Finally, in order to broaden the engineering applications of pervious concrete, some research proposals are presented in this study.

Fast and Accurate Predictor-Corrector Methods Using Feedback-Accelerated Picard Iteration for Strongly Nonlinear Problems

Although predictor-corrector methods have been extensively applied,they might not meet the requirements of practical applications and engineering tasks,particularly when high accuracy and efficiency are necessary.A novel class of correctors based on feedback-accelerated Picard iteration(FAPI)is proposed to further enhance computational performance.With optimal feedback terms that do not require inversion of matrices,significantly faster convergence speed and higher numerical accuracy are achieved by these correctors compared with their counterparts;however,the computational complexities are comparably low.These advantages enable nonlinear engineering problems to be solved quickly and accurately,even with rough initial guesses from elementary predictors.The proposed method offers flexibility,enabling the use of the generated correctors for either bulk processing of collocation nodes in a domain or successive corrections of a single node in a finite difference approach.In our method,the functional formulas of FAPI are discretized into numerical forms using the collocation approach.These collocated iteration formulas can directly solve nonlinear problems,but they may require significant computational resources because of the manipulation of high-dimensionalmatrices.To address this,the collocated iteration formulas are further converted into finite difference forms,enabling the design of lightweight predictor-corrector algorithms for real-time computation.The generality of the proposed method is illustrated by deriving new correctors for three commonly employed finite-difference approaches:the modified Euler approach,the Adams-Bashforth-Moulton approach,and the implicit Runge-Kutta approach.Subsequently,the updated approaches are tested in solving strongly nonlinear problems,including the Matthieu equation,the Duffing equation,and the low-earth-orbit tracking problem.The numerical findings confirm the computational accuracy and efficiency of the derived predictor-corrector algorithms.

Seafloor topography plays an important role in the evolution of submarine lobes.However,it is still not so clear how the shape of slope affects the three-dimensional(3-D)architecture of submarine lobes.In this study,we analyze the effect of topography factors on different hierarchical lobe architectures that formed during Pliocene to Quaternary in the Rovuma Basin offshore East Africa.We characterize the shape,size and growth pattern of different hierarchical lobe architectures using 3-D seismic data.We find that the relief of the topographic slope determines the location of preferential deposition of lobe complexes and single lobes.When the topography is irregular and presents topographic lows,lobe complexes first infill these depressions.Single lobes are deposited preferentially at positions with higher longitudinal(i.***.across-slope)slope gradients.As the longitudinal slope becomes higher,the aspect ratio of the single lobes increases.Lateral(i.***.along-slope)topography does not seem to have a strong influence on the shape of single lobe,but it seems to affect the overlap of single lobes.When the lateral slope gradient is relatively high,the single lobes tend to have a larger overlap surface.Furthermore,as the average of lateral slope and longitudinal slope gets greater,the width/thickness ratio of the single lobe is smaller,i.***.sediments tend to accumulate vertically.The results demonstrate that the shape of slopes more comprehensively influences the 3-D architecture of lobes in natural deep-sea systems than previously other lobe deposits and analogue experiments,which helps us better understand the development and evolution of the distal parts of turbidite systems.
