Objective:To evaluate the radiological features of IgG4-related disease(IgG4-RD)in the head and neck ***:In this radiology-based study,radiological features,clinical,laboratory,pathological findings,and prognosis of nine patients with head and neck involvement diagnosed with IgG4-RD were investigated ***:The median age of the patients was 38 years(range:2.5-79 years),and there were six males and three *** most common symptoms and clinical findings of the patients were eyelid and lacrimal gland swelling,painless exophthalmos,and *** most common site of involvement on MRI was the *** involvement was followed by branches of the trigeminal nerve,sinonasal cavity,cervical lymph nodes,and dural *** most common and remarkable imaging features were T2 hypointensity and diffuse homogeneous contrast ***:Head and neck involvement of the IgG4-RD,has specific imaging features that can help with ***,early diagnosis and better outcomes can be achieved with increasing awareness of these features of this relatively new pathology.

Are Nutrition and Dietetics Students More Prone to Eating Disorders Related Attitudes and Comorbid Depression and Anxiety than Non-Dietetics Students?

It was aimed to investigate the eating attitudes and its relationships with anxiety and depression at Nutrition and Dietetics students. Students of Nutrition and Dietetics Departments were included in study group (n: 135) and non-medical students (n: 69) were in control group. Eating attitudes test (EAT-40), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were applied to all students and some anthropometric measurements were taken. Body mass index (BMI) and percent of body fat were higher at students in study group than students in control group. There were no significant differences between groups with respect to EAT, BDI and BAI scores. But, BMI and body fat percentage in girls were significantly lower than boys. Both EAT and BDI scores were significantly higher in girls than boys but BAI scores did not differ significantly. It was concluded that students training on Nutrition and Dietetics might have obsessions related to body image. But results of this study revealed that especially young women were more susceptible to eating disorders and depression.

The relation between differential leukocyte count, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and the presence and severity of coronary artery disease

Objectives: Total leukocyte count, a marker of inflammation has long been reported to be related with coronary artery disease (CAD). Recently, differenttial leukocyte count and elevated neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (N/L) has been shown to indicate an increased long-term risk of mortality in patients with stable CAD, myocardial infarction and undergoing cardiovascular surgery. Thses studies offer incremental prognostic value to total leukocyte count. We sought to determine the relationship between the leukocyte subtypes and N/L ratio and the presence and extent of CAD. Study design: The study consisted of 107 patients [70 (65.4%) men, 37 (34.6%) women, mean age 59.5 ± 10.6 years] referred to coronary angiography with suspected CAD. The subjects were classified into two groups according to the presence of significant CAD and the extent of CAD was determined by the Gensini method. Results: The lymphocyte count was found to be lower (2031 ± 741 cells/μL vs 2392 ± 611 cells/μL, p: 0.010) and the N/L ratio was found to be higher in patients with CAD (2.86 ± 1.57 vs 2.04 ± 1.01, p p: 0.005]. Conclusion: Our findings reveal that N/L ratio, a simple marker which can be derived from a routine complete blood count test was significantly and independently related to presence and severity of coronary atherosclerosis.

Histopathological comparison of topical therapy modalities for acute radiation proctitis in an experimental rat model

AIM： To evaluate the prevalent topical therapeutic modalities available for the treatment of acute radiation proctitis compared to formalin. METHODS： A total of 120 rats were used. Four groups （n = 30） were analyzed with one group for each of the following applied therapy modalities： control, mesalazine, formalin, betamethasone, and misoprostol. A single fraction of 17.5 Gy was delivered to each rat. The rats in control group rats were given saline, and the rats in the other three groups received appropriate enemas twice a day beginning on the first day after the irradiation until the day of euthanasia. On d 5, 10, and 15, ten rats from each group were euthanized and a pathologist who was unaware of treatment assignment examined the rectums using a scoring system. RESULTS： The histopathologic scores for surface epithelium, glands （crypts） and lamina propria stroma of the rectums reached their maximum level on d 10. The control and formalin groups had the highest and mesalazine had the lowest, respectively on d 10. On the 15^th d, mesalazine, betamethasone, and misoprostol had the lowest scores of betamethasone. CONCLUSION： Mesalazine, betamethasone, and misoprostol are the best topical agents for radiation proctitis and formalin has an inflammatory effect and should not be used.

Assessment of the Patient Movement for Lesion during Myocardial Perfusion SPECT Imaging by Cardiac Phantom

Movement of the patient during myocardial perfusion SPECT leads to some artifacts that make the interpretation difficult. In this study, myocardial perfusion imaging protocol was performed on a cardiac phantom and SPECT was performed by simulating patient movements. A lesion model with dimensions of 1.2 × 2 × 2 cm was created on the inferoseptal wall of the cardiac phantom. Imaging was done in circular orbits in 64 × 64 matrix and step and shoot mode. First set of images taken with no movement was referred as the reference image. During imaging, patient movement was simulated by moving the phantom in ±X and ±Y directions between the frames starting from 8th frame to 16th frame. At the end of imaging, Bull’s eye maps of images with movement were com-pared with Bull’s eye maps of reference images. Bull’s eye maps were evaluated by an experienced nuclear medicine physician. Shifting patient’s movement in all directions by ±1 and ±2 cm, dis-placed the localization of the lesion mildly and this did not hamper the evaluation. However, movements of ±3 or ±4 cm resulted in artifacts which in turn caused partial or no visualization of the lesion. In motion corrected images, the lesion could be evaluated in ±1 and ±2 cm movements while lesion could not be evaluated in ±3 and ±4 cm movements. As a result, movement greater than ±3 cm causes significant image artifacts and this should be considered as a potential source of error in myocardial perfusion studies.

Disease modifying anti-rheumatic agents are the cornerstone in management of Rheumatoid Arthritis and when used correctly they are life-saving. As the number of the agents increases, detailed guidelines become more and more important for clinicians to set safe and effective regimens. Herein, we combined the EULAR and ACR recommendations for clinicians and also pointed some important facts peculiar to our country.
