The aim of the study is to present a multi-leveled comparative evaluation approach for structural characteristics of historic masonry monuments so that the consciousness in their authentic designs is comprehended,and the optimum structural performance is clarified.A case study approach is preferred by the examination of the Bedesten(15th‒16th centuries)located in Bergama,_Izmir,*** structure is documented through tacheometric *** construction techniques of structural elements are *** documented qualities are compared with similar period and/or function structures in order to rank the frequency of construction *** geometrical factor of safety state is defined theoretically for domes and *** element macro model of the Bedesten is generated in ANSYS software and overall structural analysis of the structure is made to evaluate the safety level of historic building by the limit states through self-weight *** presented study shows that the rare structural characteristics can both contribute to structural safety and cause ***,total consciousness in structural design cannot be stated for the studied Bedesten,but the structural designs that are often preferred in the monuments built at the same period in the proximity to each other have low vulnerability,yielding to conscious preferences.

In Vitro Propagation Potential via Somatic Embryogenesis of the Two Maturing Early Cultivars of European Chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.)

Turkey ranks the third in the production of chestnuts in the world having an important place both in domestic and global markets. However, the chestnut production and the number of trees have been diminishing in recent years. Therefore, in vitro propagation of the chestnut, in addition to the classical propagation techniques, should be applied. Especially the propogation of the early maturing cultivars and production of the quality chestnuts will provide a better income to the producer. Here, somatic embryo production and regeneration from the immature cotyledons of the early maturing cultivars of the European chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill), Haciibis and Karamehmet, were studied using the somatic embryogenesis, one of the in vitro propagation techniques. To induce the somatic embryogenesis, 168 different combinations were applied to both cultivars. The somatic embryogenesis rate in Haciibis cultivar, in which the interactions were observed among the applications, was found to be 9.9% while it was 11.1% for the Karamehmet cultivar. Dessication, cold treatment, gibberellic acid (GA3) and benzyladenine (BA) + naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) applications were performed on the regeneration of the somatic embryos, and 40% conversion to plant was obtained with desiccation together with BA + NAA supplementation to the medium.

Early identification of pathogenic bacteria in food,water,and bodily fluids is very important and yet challenging,owing to sample complexities and large sample volumes that need to be rapidly *** screening methods based on plate counting or molecular analysis present various tradeoffs with regard to the detection time,accuracy/sensitivity,cost,and sample preparation ***,we present a computational live bacteria detection system that periodically captures coherent microscopy images of bacterial growth inside a 60-mm-diameter agar plate and analyses these time-lapsed holograms using deep neural networks for the rapid detection of bacterial growth and the classification of the corresponding *** performance of our system was demonstrated by the rapid detection of Escherichia coli and total coliform bacteria(i.e.,Klebsiella aerogenes and Klebsiella pneumoniae ***)in water samples,shortening the detection time by >12 h compared to the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)-approved *** the preincubation of samples in growth media,our system achieved a limit of detection(LOD)of ~1 colony forming unit(CFU)/L in≤9 h of total test *** platform is highly cost-effective(~$0.6/test)and has high-throughput with a scanning speed of 24 cm2/min over the entire plate surface,making it highly suitable for integration with the existing methods currently used for bacteria detection on agar *** by deep learning,this automated and cost-effective live bacteria detection platform can be transformative for a wide range of applications in microbiology by significantly reducing the detection time and automating the identification of colonies without labelling or the need for an expert.

A limited number of studies have been conducted on the effects of ozone use on cereal and its components. Starch, an important natural macromolecule, is an essential component of cereals. In present study, the effects of ozone on the structure, physico-chemical and microbiological properties of wheat, corn, potato and rice starches were investigated. Wheat starch, corn starch, potato starch and rice starch water mixtures were prepared in the ratio of 1：9 （dry sample to water ratio） and treated with ozone at a rate of 60 g/h for 1 hour, while unozonated samples were used as controls. Light microscopy represented that the structures of corn and potato starch samples were affected by 1 hr ozonation rather than the structures of wheat and rice starch samples. Colour of ozone-oxidized wheat, corn and potato starch samples could meet the consumer preference due to the higher lightness, higher whiteness and lower chroma value. However, high chroma, high yellownes and low whiteness values of ozonated rice starch is not adequate for consumer desire. Microbiological analysis showed that 1 hr ozonation reduced the total bacteria and mould/yeast counts significantly for all wheat, corn, potato and rice starch samples （P 〈 0.05） due to most probably the reduced pH of samples. Ozonation can be an alternative modification technique, but further research is needed to understand the certain benefits and limitations of ozone applications on starch oxidation for human safety and health.

Elemental Analysis of Tea Leaves (Camellia Sinensis) and Their Own Soils at Eastern Black Sea Region in Turkey

People consume tea brewed from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant for about 50 centuries. Health benefits of the tea have been investigated for about three decades. Especially green tea shows antitoxic and lots of properties with its determined ingredients. Turkey is not only the one of the best consumer and but also good producer of the tea as being 5 th producer all over the world. It grows eastern region of the Turkey and high quality tea is imported and exported. To have quality tea, grooving soils are also crucial. In the current research, Tea leaves and their own grown soils were collected from 20 stations where the most tea producer cities as Trabzon, Rize and Artvin tea fields of the eastern of Black Sea Region in Turkey. The cultivated tea and their own grown soil samples were analysed by using EDXRF Spectrometry. In the soil samples, the elements Mg, Al, Si, P, S, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Sr, Ba, Pb on percent level and the elements Mg, Al, Si, P, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn and Sr in the tea leaves were detected by using SKRAY *** also the obtained data were evaluated with the Kriging interpolation of geostatistical method. Element content were investigated in the soil and tea samples according to the geological situations and also the relation of elemental difference between the tea and the own grown soil. Pb/Zn ratio was also anaysed in the samples.

This paper presents building one-parameter motion by complex numbers on a time scale. Firstly, we assumed that E and E′ were moving in a fixed time scale complex plane and {0, e1,e2} and {0', e'1,e'2} ?were their orthonormal frames, respectively. By using complex numbers, we investigated the delta calculus equations of the motion on T. Secondly, we gave the velocities and their union rule on the time scale. Finally, by using the delta-derivative, we got interesting results and theorems for the instantaneous rotation pole and the pole curves (trajectory). In kinematics, investigating one-parameter motion by complex numbers is important for simplifying motion calculation. In this study, our aim is to obtain an equation of motion by using complex numbers on the time scale.

AIM:The aim of the study was to investigate the changes of serum malondialdehyde level, I.e; the oxidative stress hypothesis in patients infected with Ascaris ***: Serum malondialdehyde activity was measured in 43 patients who were positive for intestinal parasite of Ascaris lumbricoides. Scores were obtained for the positives and their age-and sex-matched 60 Ascaris lumbricoides negative healthy ***: The difference between malondialdehyde levels of patients infected with Ascaris lumbricoides and control group was statistically significant both for females (P＜0.05)and for males (P＜0.05). In the patient and control groups,no correlation was found between age and malondialdehyde levels (P＞0.05) both in females and in males. In addition,no significant correlation could be found between malondialdehyde levels of both females and males for patients and control groups (P＞0.05).CONCLUSION: Malondialdehyde levels clearly increase in patients infected with Ascaris lumbricoides.

The Effect of Nano-Materials on Hot Mixture “Asphalt-Concrete”

During the past years different researchers have studied the causes of failure of flexible pavements and they offered variety of alternatives for solving these failure problems such as rutting, fatigue and low temperature cracking which are sourced from moisture susceptibility and also temperature sensitivity of either asphalt, aggregate or the asphalt mixture as a whole. This study is conducted to determine the optimum amount and potential applicability of zycotherm nanomaterial in asphalt and asphalt concrete mixtures with two different systems: directly applying to bitumen and diluting and applying to aggregate in order to address the solution of potential failure problems in flexible pavements. The study is carried out experimentally by conducting tests on bitumen and bituminous mixtures. Tensile strength test and retained stability tests were performed on bituminous mixture in order to measure the tensile strength ratio (TSR) and the retained stability index (RSI), which are both the indexed parameters to determine the mixture resistance to de-bonding and disintegration in the presence of water. Penetration, softening point, RTFOT, PAV, BBR and DSR tests were also performed on bitumen to determine the effect of zycotherm on bitumen’s contribution on rutting, fatigue and low temperature cracking of the mixture. It is found that using zycotherm material greatly increases the resistance of asphalt mixture to moisture induced damages and also increases its resistance to rutting, fatigue and low temperature cracking.
