Investigation and modeling of water quality of Goksu River （Cleadnos） in an international pro- tected area by using GIS

Goksu Delta is an important wetland where the Goksu River reaches to sea in the eastern of the town Tasucu-lcel. The delta is classified as a Wetland of International Importance according to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance. The amount of fertilizers used in this area was 7200 tons in 2006. These pollutants affect the surface and groundwater quality negatively. The intensively used fertilizers and pesticides contain not only n- and P compounds but also some heavy metals. The contents of all pollutants in surface waters were determined for four different seasons between 2006 and 2008 and with these data a Geographic Information System （GIS） has been constructed by using Map Info. From the photometric heavy metal analysis, it is inferred that the excess concen- tration of Fe, ni, Mn, Mo and Cu at some locations is the cause of undesirable quality for drinking purposes. The source of excess concentration of various heavy metals is the agricultural activities and fertilizers. It is determined that in all periods between 2006 and 2008 the heavy metals and other pollutants in the fertilizers and pesticides transported easily to river water with irrigation return flow. The organic pollutants, including COD, BOD, nH3 and nO3 followed the sharply increasing trends from Silifke city to Mediterranean Sea. The water quality of Goksu River is modeled and determined that the waste water discharge of 10,700 m3/day from Silifke city does not create a serious problem because of the high amount of flow rate of Goksu River.

The human microbiota is influenced by the immune and nervous systems of the ***-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is known as bioactive compound and it has important physiological functions,such as anti-hypertensive and antidepressant *** acid bacteria (LAB),especially Lactobacillus species are known as the most important GABA producers because of the food-grade *** purpose of this study is to develop a functional chocolate using microencapsulated GABA producer Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus nRRL B-442 strain for patients having an anxiety ***-in-oil emulsion technique was conducted for microencapsulation using whey-pullulan *** and free *** cell counts were 6.75 and 7.20 log CFU/g in chocolates,respectively,at the end of 60 *** simulated in vitro digestion analysis,survival rate of microencapsulated bacteria in chocolate samples was found at higher percentage (87%) than free bacteria (75%).Furthermore,microencapsulated *** did not affect the physical,chemical,and sensory properties of ***,*** with the highest GABA producing capability may provide insight for an anxiety disorder patient,since this strain has been thought as having a therapeutic effect.A new functional food model was developed for “GutBrain Axis” phenomena since the chocolate could be accepted as a good carrier for GABA producer bacteria.

nitrogen(n)excreted by poultry is converted to ammonia(nH3),presenting an environmental risk and a health risk to the farmer and animals.A study was performed to investigate the effect of reduced CP and feed form on broiler performance and welfare,meat and litter quality,n utilization,and nH3 concentrations at litter level.A total of 2,232 Ross 308 male broilers was divided into 6 treatments and 6 replicates,which was fed diets in both pellet and mash forms with different CP levels of 205.0 g/kg(H,high),187.5 g/kg(M,intermediate)and 175.0 g/kg(L,low)in the grower phase and 195.0 g/kg(H),180.0 g/kg(M)and 165.6 g/kg(L)in the finisher *** amino acids(AA)were supplemented to maintain digestible AA-to-digestible lysine *** dietary CP content to 187.5 g/kg in the grower phase and 180.0 g/kg in the finisher phase reduced nH3 concentrations at litter level(Pn in dietary CP had no additional *** treatments had better litter qualities and lower incidences of foot and hock lesions than pellet treatments at d 38(Pn addition,treatments with reduced CP had lower incidence of foot lesions at d 38(Pnd final BW,improved feed conversion ratio(FCR),and heavier carcasses(Pn those fed mash diets over a production period of 39 *** could not be maintained when birds were fed L CP pelleted *** study demonstrated that,with the supplementation of AA to meet requirements,the concentration of dietary CP can be reduced to 187.5 and 180.0 g/kg in the grower and finisher phases respectively,without impairing broiler performance,meat yield and *** diets were favorable when considering the overall litter quality and welfare of the ***,they could not maintain the same broiler performance and slaughter yield as pelleted *** from the present study may assist the poultry sector towards a socially acceptable lowemission

Effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with presumed diagnosis of acute appendicitis

BACKGROUnD Acute appendicitis(AAp) is the most frequent cause of acute abdominal pain,and appendectomy is the most frequent emergency procedure that is performed *** coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic has caused delays in managing diseases requiring emergency approaches such as AAp and *** To compare the demographic,clinical,and histopathological outcomes of patients with AAp who underwent appendectomy during pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 *** The demographic,clinical,biochemical,and histopathological parameters were evaluated and compared in patients who underwent appendectomy with the presumed diagnosis of AAp in the pre-COVID-19(October 2018-March 2020) and COVID-19(March 2020-July 2021) *** Admissions to our tertiary care hospital for AAp increased 44.8% in the COVID-19 ***-19(n = 154) and COVID-19(n = 223) periods were compared for various parameters,and we found that there were statistically significant differences in terms of variables such as procedures performed on the weekdays or weekends [odds ratio(OR):1.76;P = 0.018],presence of AAp findings on ultrasonography(OR:15.4;P nfirmation of AAp in the histopathologic analysis(OR:2.6;P = 0.003),determination of perforation in the appendectomy specimen(OR:2.2;P = 0.004),the diameter of the appendix(P nd hospital stay(P = 0.003).There was no statistically significant difference in terms of interval between the initiation of symptoms and admission to the hospital between the pre-COVID-19(median:24 h;interquartile range:34) and COVID-19(median:36 h;interquartile range:60) periods(P = 0.348).The interval between the initiation of symptoms until the hospital admission was significantly longer in patients with perforated AAp regardless of the COVID-19 or pre-COVID-19 status(P nCLUSIOn The present study showed that in the COVID-19 period,the ultrasonographic determination rate of AAp,perforation rate of AAp,and duration of hospital

Juvenile hyaline fibromatosis (JHF) is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by papulonodular skin lesions, gingival hyperplasia, joint contractures, and bone lesions. The skin lesions may consist of multiple large tumors, commonly on the scalp and around the neck,and small pearly,pink papules and plaques on the trunk, chin, ears, and around the nostrils. Here, we report a 2-year-old boy with characteristic stiffness of the knees and elbows and pink confluent papules on the paranasal folds, and periauricular and perianal regions. He also had hard nodules all over the scalp and around the mouth, and severe gingival hyperplasia. The lesions were totally excised and clinicopathological diagnosis was JHF.

目的：本回顾性研究旨在评估开业医师的后牙病例中．氧化锆冠（PFZ）和金属烤瓷冠（PFM）的临床使用状况。方法和材料：收集了13位开业医师的病例来评估全冠的长期使用状况。共报道了2182颗单冠．其中前磨牙全冠（n=881）、磨牙（n=1301）．1102颗氧化锆冠、1080颗金属烤瓷冠．这些义齿由同一技工所（CuSP，波士顿）加工生产并且已经使用超过7．4年。所有粘结后出现的并发症（例如瓷裂纹和崩瓷）都归为失败。在PFZ组，一种饰瓷（CZR，Kuraraynoritake）被用来和3种基底系统（Lava，3MESPE；***：Katana，Kuraray noritake）相结合。Kaplan-Meier法进行统计学分析。结果：研究期间（74年）后牙冠的生存率PFM为99.3％．PFZ为99.2％。PFZ和PFM组之间没有明显的统计学差异。在PFZ组中．Lava的生存率为97．7％，Procera为100％，Katana为99.5％。在PFZ的3个系统之间和不同牙位之间（前磨牙或者磨牙：P=0．454）均没有明显的统计学差异。结论：由CZR和3种氧化锆基底系统修复的PFz冠有优异的长期成功率，生存时间和生存率与PFM冠相比没有显著性差异，不同的基底系统和牙位（磨牙或者前磨牙）之间无相关性。
