Evaluation of Actual Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient in Carrot by Remote Sensing Meth.dology Using Drainage and River Water to Overcome Reduced Water Availability

Search.ng for alternative meth.ds for traditional irrigation is World trend at days due to a reduction in water and increased of drough. due to climate ch.nges th.refore farmers need use modern meth.ds of sch.duling water and minimizing water losses wh.le also increasing yield. To meet th. future increasing demands water and food th.re is a need to utilize alternative meth.ds to reduce evaporation, transpiration and deep percolation of water. Any countries use recycled water (drain and sewage) and desalination water from th. sea or drains to irrigate crops plus computing actual crop evapotranspiration (ETc) so as to calculate th. amount of water to apply to a crop. Th. paper aims to assess th. actual evaporation and evaporation coefficient of carrots, by planting carrots in a field and th. crop was exposed to several sources of water (DW and RW) and comparing ETc, Kc and production among plots of th.ee sites (A, B and C). Th. study used two types of irrigation water (drain water (DW) and river water (RW)). Th. results were to month.y rate and accumulated actual evapotranspiration to C (irrigation by RW only) more th.n A (67% RW and 33% DW) and B (17% RW and 83% DW) via 7% and 58%, respectively. Th. yield to C more th.n A and B by 17% and 75%, respectively. In conclusion th. use of DW can cause a reduction in crop consumptive of carrot crops also causes a reduction in yield, crop length. root length. root size, canopy of crop, number of leaves and biomass of th. plant th.refore, th. drainage water needs to treated before irrigating crops And making use of it to irrigate th. fields and fill th. sh.rtfall in th. amount of water from th. river. Th. drain water h.lped on filling th. water sh.rtage due to climate ch.nges and giving production of carrot crop but less th.n river water.

COVID-19 and Malaria: A Comparative Study of Epidemiology, Burden, and Ch.llenges

Introduction: Assessing global h.alth.status includes tracking illness, disability, and mortality. Environmental and social factors as well as h.alth.initiatives impact people’s h.alth. Assessing h.alth.outcomes in terms of mortality and morbidity, wh.ch.are included in th. global disease burden, is critical for monitoring progress in development and h.alth. as well as for selecting h.w to allocate available resources effectively, to ach.eve positive h.alth.outcomes. Studies on th. epidemiology, burden, and ch.llenges of COVID-19 and malaria remain scarce. Th.re isn’t much.information on h.w malaria susceptibility and immune response are affected by co-infection with.COVID-19, and vice versa. Th.s article h.gh.igh.s th. commonalities between malaria and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), reviews th. epidemiology, burden, and ch.llenges of each. and outlines h.w global h.alth.auth.rities h.ve responded to th. burden and ch.llenges. Meth.ds: We used Th. World h.alth.Organization Disease Situation Dash.oard as th. primary resource for obtaining information on malaria and COVID-19. Th. World Malaria Reports for 2020 and 2021 were used as th. primary sources for th. statistics on malaria. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze th. data collected. Results: Th. number of malaria death. and cases h.s decreased significantly worldwide since 2000, but th. African region continues to bear th. greatest burden of malaria. Th. h.gh.st number of death. due to COVID-19 occurred in th. Americas, followed by Europe. Th. burden is ligh.er in South.ast Asia, th. Eastern Mediterranean, th. western Pacific, and Africa. Th.re h.s been a decline in th. number of death. caused by COVID-19 in areas wh.re malaria is endemic. Furth.r, th. COVID-19 pandemic h.s increased th. burden of malaria in Africa. Conclusion: Public h.alth.auth.rities sh.uld consider taking necessary preventive measures to figh. malaria and COVID-19 in a timely manner and ensure continuous h.alth.are for th.se wh.

Epidemiological Descriptive Analysis of Disease Outbreaks in 2019 in Sudan

Background: Sudan h.s often faced outbreaks of malaria, th. life-th.eatening waterborne disease. In 2019, th. country experienced an outbreak of six different infectious diseases, i.e., ch.lera, ch.kungunya, dengue fever, diph.h.ria, malaria, and Rift Valley fever. Objectives: Th. aim of th.s study was to perform an epidemiological descriptive analysis of data of th.se disease outbreaks to determine th. spatial and temporal patterns of outbreaks and to estimate th. magnitude of th. diseases. Meth.ds: Th. data consisted of th. number of cases and death. due to disease outbreaks of ch.lera, ch.kungunya, dengue fever, diph.h.ria, malaria, and Rift Valley fever. We analyzed th. reports of an investigation conducted by th. World h.alth.Organization and th. Federal Ministry of h.alth. Sudan. Descriptive statistics and case fatality rate (CFR) were used in th.s study. Results: Th. frequency of disease occurrence was as follows: ch.lera (344 cases), ch.kungunya (308 cases), dengue fever (4236 cases), diph.h.ria (105 cases), malaria (5,188,135 cases) and River Valley fever (567 cases). Th. CFRs for ch.lera, ch.kungunya, are diph.h.ria were 4.3%, 2.05%, and 9.5%, respectively. Th. mortality rate of malaria was 0.0013. Th. states most affected by outbreaks of th.se diseases in Sudan were th. western states. Women were at a h.gh.r risk for all diseases, except River Valley fever. Conclusions: Th.s study h.gh.igh.s th. patterns of th. outbreak of th.se diseases in Sudan and provides a basis for future scientific research.

Serotonin is one of th. significant signaling molecules used by several neural systems in th. gut and brain. Th.s study aimed to develop a novel and potent tracer for targeting, detecting, and imaging serotonin receptors(5-h.Rs), wh.ch.is a promising tool in th. determination of th. receptor’s function and relationsh.p with.th. diseases related to serotonin and its receptor dysfunction. Serotonin was effectively labeled via a direct electroph.lic substitutional reaction using an oxidizing agent such.as iodogen with.125I in a neutral medium, and 125I-serotonin was ach.eved with.a maximum labeling yield of 91 ± 0.63% with.in vitro stability up to 24 h. Molecular modeling was conducted to signify 125I-serotonin structure and confirm th.t th. radiolabeling process did not affect serotonin binding ability to its receptors. Biodistribution studies sh.w th.t th. maximum gastro intestinal tract uptake of 125I-serotonin was 17.8 ± 0.93% ID/organ after 30 min postinjection and th. tracer’s ability to pass th. blood–brain barrier. Th.s, 125I-serotonin is a promising single ph.ton emission computed tomograph. tracer in th. detection of 5 h.Rs.

Modeling th. Influence of Climate Factors on Malaria Transmission Dynamics in North.Kordofan State, Sudan

Background: Despite great efforts by th. government to control malaria in Sudan, th. disease is th. most significant h.man disease and was widespread in North.Kordofan State. Morbidity and mortality of th. disease are increasing in th. State. Usually, th. disease reach.d its peak after rainy season. Th.s study aims to estimate th. role of climate factors on malaria transmission dynamic by modeling th. relationsh.p between malaria cases and climatic variables, such.as rainfall, relative h.midity, and temperature, in Kordofan State. Meth.ds: We used Pearson correlation coefficient and an ordinary least square meth.d to assess th.s relationsh.p. Results: Th. results sh.w th.t th.re are statistically significant associations between malaria cases and rainfall, relative h.midity, and minimum temperature (P-value h. regression analysis results suggest th.t th. appropriate model for predicting malaria incidence includes malaria cases lagged by one month. maximum temperature, and minimum temperature. Th.s model explained 72% of th. variance in month.y malaria incidence. Conclusion: Th. results of th.s study suggest th.t climatic factors h.ve potential use for malaria prediction in th. State.

BACKGROUND Timely differentiation of biliary atresia(BA)from oth.r infantile ch.lestatic diseases can impact patient ***,non-invasive staging of fibrosis after Kasai h.patoportoenterostomy h.s not been widely *** wave elastograph. is an ultrasound modality th.t detects ch.nges in tissue *** auth.rs propose th.t th. utility of elastograph. in BA can be elucidated th.ough.meta-analysis of existing *** To assess th. utility of elastograph. in:(1)BA diagnosis,and(2)post-Kasai fibrosis *** A literature search.identified articles th.t evaluated elastograph. for BA diagnosis and for post-Kasai *** studies met criteria for meta-analysis:Eleven for diagnosis and nine for follow-up *** diagnostic odds ratio(DOR),sensitivity,and specificity of elastograph. were calculated th.ough.a random-effects model using Meta-DiSc *** Mean liver stiffness in BA infants at diagnosis was significantly h.gh.r th.n in non-BA,with.overall DOR 24.61,sensitivity 83%,and specificity 79%.Post-Kasai,mean liver stiffness was significantly h.gh.r in BA patients with.varices th.n in patients with.ut,with.DOR 16.36,sensitivity 85%,and specificity 76%.Elastograph. differentiated stage F4 fibrosis from F0-F3 with.DOR of 70.03,sensitivity 96%,and specificity 89%.Elastograph. also differentiated F3-F4 fibrosis from F0-F2 with.DOR of 24.68,sensitivity 85%,and specificity 81%.CONCLUSION Elastograph. h.s potential as a non-invasive modality for BA diagnosis and surveillance *** paper’s limitations include inter-study meth.d h.terogeneity and small sample ***,standardized,multi-center studies are recommended.

Th. Consequence of Particle Crush.ng in Engineering Properties of Granular Materials

Th.s paper presents experimental investigation for particles breakage for natural sand. Th. particle breakage was induced by subjecting th. sample to one dimensional compression. Grain size analyses were performed before and after induced breakage. Th.reafter, th. sand sh.ar strength.parameters were assessed using direct sh.ar box tests and th. coefficient of permeability was assessed using constant h.ad permeameter. Examining th. obtained results revealed th.t th. amount of breakage due to one dimensional compression was of order h.gh.r th.n th. amount occurring during direct sh.ar test. Peak sh.ar strength.parameters decreased with.th. particles breakage increasing. Moreover, dilation angle of sh.ar strength.pronouncedly decreases with.th. amount of particles breakage increasing. Crush.ng h.s obvious effect on th. evaluated coefficient of permeability.

Acaricidal activities of some essential oils and th.ir monoterpenoidal constituents against h.use dust mite,Dermatoph.goides pteronyssinus (Acari:Pyroglyph.dae)

Th. acaricidal activities of fourteen essential oils and fourteen of th.ir major monoterpenoids were tested against h.use dust mites Dermatoph.goides pteronyssinus. Five concentrations were used over two different time intervals 24 and 48 h.under laboratory conditions. In general, it was noticed th.t th. acaricidal effect based on LC50 of eith.r essential oils or monoterpenoids against th. mite was time dependant. Th. LCso values were decreased by increasing of exposure time. Clove, matrecary, ch.nopodium, rosemary, eucalyptus and caraway oils were sh.wn to h.ve h.gh.activity. As for th. monoterpenoids, cinnamaldeh.de and ch.oroth.mol were found to be th. most effective followed by citronellol. Th.s study suggests th. use of th. essential oils and th.ir major constituents as ecofriendly biodegradable agents for th. control of h.use dust mite, D. pteronyssinus.
