Laboratory study on efficiency of three calcium carbonate scale inhibitors in the presence of EOR chemicals

Chemical flooding has been widely used in the oil industry since the 1980s for enhanced oil recovery(EOR)*** studies have shown that the effectiveness of calcium carbonate scale inhibitors is affected by many factors,such as water composition,system pressure,temperature,production rates,pH *** breakthrough of the EOR chemicals in the production well could also affect scale formation process and interfere with the scale treatment program as ***,the studies on the impacts of injected EOR chemicals to scale inhibitor performances are very *** paper presents the comprehensive laboratory study on the impacts of the EOR chemicals on CaCO3 scale formation and prevention using static bottle and dynamic tube blocking *** EOR chemicals used in this study are a combination of surfactants and *** different types of inhibitors were evaluated:triphosphonate,penta-phosphonate,and polyacrylate based ***(%)from the bottle test and minimum effective dose(MED)based on the tube blocking method were determined for each inhibitor at 160*** precipitates from the bottle tests were also characterized for morphology and polymorphs using environmental scanning electron(ESEM)and X-ray diffraction(XRD)*** suggest that the performance of scale inhibitors could be substantially affected by the EOR *** dynamic tube blocking tests,the MED values of inhibitors were increased roughly 10 times with the EOR *** static bottle tests showed considerable changes under the test *** impact of EOR chemicals were also demonstrated by the remarkable ranges of crystal morphologies,changing from simple aragonite columns to nanorod,distorted spheroid,and flower-like superstructure in the presence of EOR chemicals and inhibitors.

Nanosecond pulse and dual-wavelength Q-switched 1.5 μm fiber laser using MAX phase Cr2TialC2 saturable absorber

We demonstrated a new type of MAX phase material, chromium titanium aluminum carbide（Cr2TialC2） polymer film, to generate a passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser（EDFL）. The film thickness was measured to be around 45 μm, which was fabricated using the embedding method with polyvinyl alcohol（PVA） polymer as hoster. The saturable absorber（SA） film demonstrates a dual-wavelength passively Q-switched EDFL which operates at 1 531 nm and 1 560.19 nm, respectively. The Q-switching pulse duration could be varied from 2.46 μs to 770 ns, while the repetition rate varied from 92.76 kHz to 106.6 kHz with an increasing input pumping range from 154 mW to 300 mW. The maximum output power and pulse energy of 15.05 mW and 141.18 nJ were obtained at the maximum input power of 300 mW, respectively.

SBL-JP-0004: A promising dual inhibitor of JAK2 and PI3KCD against gastric cancer

Background:Gastric cancer (GC) remains a global health burden and is often characterized by heterogeneous molecular profiles and resistance to conventional therapies. The phosphoinositide 3-kinase and PI3K and Janus kinase (JAK) signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathways play pivotal roles in GC progression, making them attractive targets for therapeutic interventions.Methods:This study applied a computational and molecular dynamics simulation approach to identify and characterize SBL-JP-0004 as a potential dual inhibitor of JAK2 and PI3KCD kinases. KATOIII and SNU-5 GC cells were used for evaluation.Results:SBL-JP-0004 exhibited a robust binding affinity for JAK2 and PI3KCD kinases, as evidenced by molecular docking scores and molecular dynamics simulations. Binding interactions and Gibbs binding free energy estimates confirmed stable and favorable interactions with target proteins. SBL-JP-0004 displayed an half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC) value of 118.9 nM against JAK2 kinase and 200.9 nM against PI3KCD enzymes. SBL-JP-0004 exhibited potent inhibition of cell proliferation in KATOIII and SNU-5 cells, with half-maximal growth inhibitory concentration (GI) values of 250.8 and 516.3 nM, respectively. A significant elevation in the early phase apoptosis (28.53% in KATOIII cells and 26.85% in SNU-5 cells) and late phase apoptosis (17.37% in KATOIII cells and 10.05% in SNU-5 cells) were observed with SBL-JP-0004 treatment compared to 2.1% and 2.83% in their respective controls.Conclusion:The results highlight SBL-JP-0004 as a promising dual inhibitor targeting JAK2 and PI3KCD kinases for treating GC and warrant further preclinical and clinical investigations to validate its utility in clinical settings.

Status and prospects for symmetric organic redox flow batteries

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Comparative chemical sensor for detection of chromium(Ⅵ) in aqueous solution

A process for purifying aqueous solutions containing heavy and toxic metals such as chromium（Cr） has been investigated. One of the extremely harmful pollutants in rivers and seawater is the heavy metal ions due to their direct impacts on human, animals and plants are hexavalent Cr（Ⅵ）. Consequently, highly sensitive sensor to detect Cr is essential. Surface plasmon resonance（SPR） technique has attracted huge research interest in detecting heavy metals specifically. In this study, three types of prism-based SPR sensor, gold（Au）/silver（Ag）, Au/polyaniline（PANI） and Au/titanium dioxide（TiO2） nanostructured films, are investigated as potential sensing material to detect the presence of Cr（Ⅵ） ions in water. The base Au layer with thickness of 48.3 nm is deposited on a glass slide for all sensors. For Au/Ag, Au/PANI nanofibers and Au/TiO2sensor films, the Cr（Ⅵ） concentration is varied from 1 ppm to 15 ppm with sensitivity of 0.270 °ppm-1, 0.082 °ppm-1and 0.039 °ppm-1, respectively. Based on these results, the Au/PANI nanofibers are the most sensitive to Cr（Ⅵ） among the tested sensing materials.

CATIONIC RING-OPENING POLYMERIZATION OF TETRAHYDROFURAN WITH KEGGIN-TYPE HETEROPOLYCOMPOUNDS AS SOLID ACID CATalYSTS

Three Keggin-type heteropolyanions, namely H3PMo12O40-13H2O, （NH4）3PMo12O40·4H2O and H3PW12O40·13H2O were prepared and tested in the ring-opening polymerization reaction of tetrahydrofuran. The effects of the counter-cation （H＋, NH4＋） and the peripheral atoms （Mo, W） on the polymerization were investigated. It has been found that when the protons of H3PMo12O40·13H2O were replaced by the ammonium cations the polymerization rate decreased dramatically. Whereas, when the peripheral atoms （Mo） were replaced by their homologous （W）, the polymerization rate increased twofold. As for the viscosity average molecular weight （My） of polymer products, it was found that the high molecular weight （7930） was obtained by using H3PW12O40·13H2O. The molecular weight （My） obtained by H3PMo12O40·13H2O and （NH4）H3PMo12O40·13H2O was 6470 and 6810, respectively.
