Despite their high prevalence, lack of understanding of the exact pathophysiology of the functional gastrointestinal disorders has restricted us to symptomatic diagnostic tools and therapies. Complex mechanisms underlying the disturbances in the bidirectional communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain have a vital role in the pathogenesis and are key to our understanding of the disease phenomenon. Although we have come a long way in our understanding of these complex disorders with the help of studies on animals especially rodents, there need to be more studies in humans, especially to identify the therapeutic targets. This review study looks at the anatomical features of the gut-brain axis in order to discuss the different factors and underlying molecular mechanisms that may have a role in the pathogenesis of functional gastrointestinal disorders. These molecules and their receptors can be targeted in future for further studies and possible therapeutic interventions. The article also discusses the potential role of artificial intelligence and machine learning and its possible role in our understanding of these scientifically challenging disorders.

Opening up new and unlimited avenues in the biomedical field,tissue engineering and regenerative medicine,the electrospinning process is considered as a versatile and the most preferred technique for the fabrication of *** tailor-designed nanofibers provide a desirable and bio-inspired physiological niche to cells for better attachment and subsequent *** this review,an attempt is made to explain the importance of various topological and morphological parameters of nanofibrous scaffolds for efficient *** novel approaches(e.g.,appropriate functionalization and extracellular matrix derived from decellularization)utilized for better mimicking and exponential growth of regenerating tissues are also ***,this review highlights the important parameters necessary for the attachment,proliferation and differentiation of the mesenchymal stem cells for tissue *** importance of growth factors and their role after introducing the electrospinning techniques for efficient delivery and their role in the proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells in the different specific lineage(e.g.,tenogenic,chondrogenic,neurogenic and osteogenic differentiation)are discussed.

Over the recent years there has been an increased trend in the use of Reduced Order Models （ROM） for modeling the coupled aeroelastic system. Of all the ROM models, the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition Method （POD） has been the most widely used, reason being the relative simplicity of implementation and the physical insight that it offers towards the physical problem. In this paper we begin by briefly recalling the recent work using POD for the computational aeroelasticity followed by the mathematical formulation. Mathematical formulation is important as it provides understanding of how POD method works. Implementation issues related to the POD method are presented next. Since POD is an empirical technique therefore, it is marred by the robustness issues as is the case with all the ROMs. In the end the variations of POD method, developed over the years are presented along with the most recent trend of using hybrid ROM.

Roux-en-Y augmented gastric advancement: An alternative technique for concurrent esophageal and pyloric stenosis secondary to corrosive intake

Select group of patients with concurrent esophagealand gastric stricturing secondary to corrosive intake requires colonic or free jejunal transfer. These technically demanding reconstructions are associated with significant complications and have up to 18% ischemic conduit necrosis. Following corrosive intake, up to 30% of such patients have stricturing at the pyloro-duodenal canal area only and rest of the stomach is available for rather less complex and better perfused gastrointestinal reconstruction. Here we describe an alternative technique where we utilize stomach following distal gastric resection along with Roux-en-Y reconstruction instead of colonic or jejunal interposition. This neo-conduit is potentially superior in terms of perfusion, lower risk of gastro-esophageal anastomotic leakage and technical ease as opposed to colonic and jejunal counterparts. We have utilized the said technique in three patients with acceptable postoperative outcome. In addition this technique offers a feasible reconstruction plan in patients where colon is not available for reconstruction due to concomitant pathology. Utility of this technique may also merit consideration for gastroesophageal junction tumors.
