Nanotwin-assisted nitridation of quenched FeNi alloy nanopowders for rare-earth-free magnets

L1_(0)-ordered FeNi alloy with a high uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and large magnetic moment is a promising candidate for rare-earth-free permanent magnets ***,the synthesis of this chemically ordered phase remains a longstanding challenge because of its low chemical order-disorder transition temperature(200-320℃).Although a non-equilibrium synthetic route based on a nitrogen topotactic reaction has been proposed as a valid approach,the volume fraction and degree of chemical ordering of the product phase are ***,we propose a promising approach that promotes the efficient formation of L1_(0)-ordered nitride phase in FeNi nanopowders by introducing a quenching treatment during a low-oxygen induction thermal plasma *** quenched FeNi nanopowders possessed much smaller powder sizes(40.4 vs 74.0 nm),exhibited higher number densities of nanotwins(39.8%vs 24.1%)and formed much larger volume fraction(33.6 wt.%vs 0.6 wt.%)of ordered phase than the unquenched ***,quenching-induced high-density nanotwins led to the dominant coverage of serrated{001}crystal facets over the surfaces of the FeNi *** unique features substantially accelerated the formation of the L1_(0)-ordered nitride phase in the FeNi nanopowders because the{001}crystallographic orientation had the highest nitrogen *** work provides not only a valid synthetic approach for mass production of the L10-ordered nitride phase in FeNi nanopowders but also novel insights into the crystal-defect-assisted nitridation of nanomaterials.

In two-phase TiAl alloys, the lamellar structures are of special interest and importance since they are so common and persistent. not only under as-cast conditions but also after thermal treatment. However. the lamellar structures are still poor in ductility,although they are beneficial for toughness and high temperature strength. Reactive lymphoid hyperplasia of the liver:A case report and review of literature

A case of a 53-year-old female patient with reactive lymphoid hyperplasia （RLH）, clinically designated as pseudolymphoma of the liver is described in this article. The patient was admitted to our hospital for further evaluation of hepatic tumors incidentally discovered at another hospital. Various diagnostic methods, including ultrasonography （US）, computerized tomography （CT）, magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） and hepatic angiography displayed three small lesions in the liver with outstanding findings consistent with hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. Surgical resection was performed and the three lesions were microscopically diagnosed as RLH of the liver. The lesions comprised a massive infiltration of lymphoid cells with follicles and hyalinized inter- follicular spaces. Immunohistochemical examination revealed that infiltrating lymphocytes had no prominent nuclear atypia and polyclonality. RLH of the liver is a very rare condition and only twelve cases have been reported in the English literature. Majority of the reported cases were middle-aged women and about half of them had some immunologic abnormalities such as autoimmune thyroiditis, Sjogren＇s syndrome, primary immunodeficiency, primary biliary cirrhosis. Since they are olden clinically misdiagnosed as HCC, surgery is the choice of treatment for these patients. Although their pathology resembles malignant lymphoma, the clinical course is completely benign. The authors propose that RLH of the liver can be discriminated from HCC by its clinical features.

Steering performance of an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals as a personal mobility vehicle

From the viewpoints of environmental protection, support for the aged and ensuring the right to mobility, there is a need to develop a new type of mobility vehicle that provides more effective transportation. The authors propose an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals as one of the forms of personal mobility vehicles （PMVs）. In this paper, the steering performance of the inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals is discussed based on experiments on a prototype. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the errors from the five subjects for the target trajectory and the five-grade evaluation of the maneuverability were similar. Finally, we created an inverted pendulum vehicle with pedals to which was added a reaction actuator for the steering system. From the experimental results, it was found that setting appropriate feedback gains for the handle steering angle and its rate of rotation, which control the right and left wheel driving torques, resulted in greatly improved maneuverability. Case of colonic intussusception secondary to mobile cecum syndrome repaired by laparoscopic cecopexy using a barbed wound suture device

A 27-year-old man with recurrent right lower quadrant pain was admitted to our hospital. Ultrasonography and computed tomography examination of the abdomen revealed a target sign in the ascending colon, which was compatible with the diagnosis of cecal intussusception. The intussusception was spontaneously resolved at that time, but it relapsed 6 mo later. The patient underwent a successful colonoscopic disinvagination; there was no evidence of neoplastic or inflammatory lesions in the colon and terminal ileum. The patient underwent laparoscopic surgery for recurring cecal intussusception. During laparoscopy, we observed an unfixed cecum on the posterior peritoneum(i.e. a mobile cecum). Thus, we performed laparoscopic appendectomy and cecopexy with a lateral peritoneal flap using a barbed wound suture device. The patient's post-operative course was uneventful, and he continued to do well without recurrence at 10 mo after surgery. Laparoscopic cecopexy using a barbed wound suture device is a simple and reliable procedure that can be the treatment of choice for recurrent cecal intussusception associated with a mobile cecum.

Partifying Sichuan： The Chinese Youth Party in Sichuan, 1926-1937

China saw a rise of mass party politics in the early 1920s. Different from previous parties which primarily appealed to the elites, the newly emergent parties wished to invoke wide popular support and to organize the people into a disciplined political organization in order to win national power. Current scholarship on China＇s political construction during the Republican era particularly focuses on the Communist Party and the reorganized Nationalist Party in this context. Yet, China was far from integrated in this era, and we must recognize this particular focus blinds us to the diversity of visions and attempts of various political actors for the construction of the new Chinese nation-state. This paper examines the Chinese Youth Party＇s activities in Sichuan between 1926 and 1937. Through its appeals to the students and teachers in educational circles, its actions with local gentry, and its quests for local warlords＇ support, this paper highlights the Youth Party＇s successful local operations that outstripped both the Nationalist and Communist parties in Sichuan in this period. In the distinctive sociopolitical environment of Sichuan, the Youth Party helps us understand the multiplicity of China＇s political construction during the Republican era.

Explainable Analysis of Deep Learning Models for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Classification with Chest X-Ray Images: Towards Practical Applications

In recent years, with numerous developments of convolutional neural network (CNN) classification models for medical diagnosis, the issue of misrecognition/misclassification has become more and more important. Thus, research on misrecognition/misclassification has been progressing. This study focuses on the problem of misrecognition/misclassification of CNN classification models for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) using chest X-ray images. We construct two models for COVID-19 pneumonia classification by fine-tuning ResNet-50 architecture, i.e., a model retrained with full-sized original images and a model retrained with segmented images. The present study demonstrates the uncertainty (misrecognition/misclassification) of model performance caused by the discrepancy in the shapes of images at the phase of model construction and that of clinical applications. To achieve it, we apply three XAI methods to demonstrate and explain the uncertainty of classification results obtained from the two constructed models assuming for clinical applications. Experimental results indicate that the performance of classification models cannot be maintained when the type of constructed model and the geometric shape of input images are not matched, which may bring about misrecognition in clinical applications. We also notice that the effect of adversarial attack might be induced if the method of image segmentation is not performed properly. The results suggest that the best approach to obtaining a highly reliable prediction in the classification of COVID-19 pneumonia is to construct a model using full-sized original images as training data and use full-sized original images as the input when utilized in clinical applications.
