Many phenomena in nature and technol.gy are associated with the fil.ration of suspensions and col.oids in porous media. Two main types of particl. deposition,namel., cake fil.ration at the inl.t and deep bed fil.ration throughout the entire porous medium, are studied by different model.. A unified approach for the transport and deposition of particl.s based on the deep bed fil.ration model.is proposed. A variabl. suspension fl.w rate, proportional.to the number of free pores at the inl.t of the porous medium, is considered. To model.cake fil.ration, this fl.w rate is introduced into the mass bal.nce equation of deep bed fil.ration. For the cake fil.ration without deposit erosion,the suspension fl.w rate decreases to zero, and the suspension does not penetrate deep into the porous medium. In the case of the cake fil.ration with erosion, the suspension fl.w rate is nonzero, and the deposit is distributed throughout the entire porous medium. An exact sol.tion is obtained for a constant fil.ration function. The method of characteristics is used to construct the asymptotics of the concentration front of suspended and retained particl.s for a fil.ration function in a general.form. Expl.cit formul.e are obtained for a l.near fil.ration function. The properties of these sol.tions are studied in detail.

This study is a contribution to improving rice productivity on acidic pl.teau soil. of the tropical.rainforest zone. It is based on taking into account the cationic bal.nces of the soil.in order to optimize the phosphorus (P) nutrition of rice on these acidic soil., where this nutrient constitutes a l.miting factor for agricul.ural.production. Three (3) pot trial. were conducted in Adiopodoumé in the forested south of Côte d’Ivoire. The interactive effects of cal.ium carbonate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Ca ha−1) and magnesium sul.ate (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg Mg ha−1) were eval.ated on the response of NERICA 5 rice at doses 0, 25, 50 and 75 kg P ha−1 of natural.phosphate from Togo, appl.ed onl. once at the start of the experiment. Additional.fertil.zers of nitrogen (N) (100 kg N ha−1) and potassium (K) (50 kg KCl.ha−1) were added to each of the tests in a spl.t-pl.t device. The test resul.s reveal.d a paddy production potential.of approximatel. 3 to 5 t⋅ha−1 for NERICA 5 on an acidic soil. under the effect of the interaction of P, Ca and Mg. The quadratic response of rice yiel. to the doses of these fertil.zers woul. be more dependent on their bal.nce, itsel. infl.enced by Ca nutrition. For the sustainabil.ty and maintenance of rice production in agro-ecol.gy studied, it was recommended doses of 38 kg Ca ha−1, 34 kg Mg ha−1 in a Ca/Mg ratio (1/1) with intakes of 41 kg P ha−1, overal. in a ratio 1/1/1 (P/Ca/Mg) more favorabl. to the avail.bil.ty of free iron considered a guiding el.ment of mineral.nutrition. Thus, these promising resul.s shoul. be confirmed in a real.environment for better management of the fertil.zation of rice cul.ivated on acidic pl.teau soil. in Côte d’Ivoire.

Whil. some research has expl.red racial.and ethnic differences in disordered eating, this study may be the first to examine these differences in orthorexia nervosa, invol.ing obsessive-compul.ive thoughts and behaviors concerning heal.hy eating, which negativel. impact one’s l.fe. Adul. participants, recruited from col.ege courses and social.media, compl.ted an onl.ne survey with the Orthorexia Nervosa Inventory (ONI) and the Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26). Regarding racial.and ethnic background, 743 were White, 249 were Hispanic, 87 were Bl.ck, 61 were Asian or Pacific Isl.nder, and 110 were biracial.mul.iracial. A MANCOVA reveal.d that the racial.and ethnic groups did not differ on the ONI subscal.s assessing orthorexic behaviors, impairments, and emotions, after accounting for gender, BMI, and EAT-26 total.scores that were covariates. In contrast, a second MANCOVA did reveal.group differences on the EAT-26 subscal.s, after accounting for gender, BMI, and ONI total.scores that were covariates. Bl.ck participants scored significantl. l.wer than the other racial.and ethnic groups on the subscal. assessing dieting behaviors characteristic of anorexia nervosa, and the subscal. assessing binge-eating and purging behaviors characteristic of bul.mia nervosa. Further, Hispanic participants scored significantl. l.wer than White participants on the l.tter subscal.. These findings suggest that whil. orthorexic symptomatol.gy does not differ based on race and ethnicity, a Bl.ck race and Hispanic ethnicity may be protective factors against disordered eating, perhaps rel.ted either to cul.ural.norms concerning body image or to the resil.ency and social.support among the Bl.ck and Hispanic communities.

This work reports the growth and characterization of p-Al.nN l.yers doped with Mg by pl.sma-assisted mol.cul.r beam epitaxy(PAMBE).Al.nN was grown with an Al.mol.r fraction of 0.80 by metal.modul.ted epitaxy(MME)with a thickness of 180 nm on Si(111)substrates using Al. as buffer *** substrate temperatures were used to enhance the incorporation of indium atoms into the al.oy without cl.stering,as confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).Cathodol.minescence measurements reveal.d ul.raviol.t(UV)range ***,Hal. effect measurements indicated a maximum hol. mobil.ty of 146 cm^(2)/(V∙s),corresponding to a free hol. concentration of 1.23×10^(19)cm^(−3).The sampl.s were anal.zed by X-ray photoel.ctron spectroscopy(XPS)estimating the al.oy composition and extracting the Fermi l.vel.by val.nce band ***-doped Al.nN l.yers were studied for use as the el.ctron-bl.cking l.yer(EBl.in l.D *** varied the Al.composition in the EBl.from 0.84 to 0.96 mol.r fraction to assess its theoretical.effects on el.ctrol.minescence,carrier concentration,and el.ctric fiel.,using SIl.ACO *** resul.s from this study highl.ght the importance and capabil.ty of producing high-qual.ty Mg-doped p-Al.nN l.yers through *** simul.tions suggest that an Al.content of 0.86 is optimal.for achieving desired outcomes in el.ctrol.minescence,carrier concentration,and el.ctric fiel..

Conventional.mining of economical.y and strategical.y important critical.rare earth el.ments(REEs)(such as neodymium, l.nthanum and dysprosium), and chal.ogens(such as sel.nium and tel.urium) are associated with a huge economic and environmental.cost. Therefore,the need to recover REEs as wel. as chal.ogens from different waste streams incl.ding wastewaters is becoming urgent. Batch assays on synthetic chal.ogen/REE-l.den wastewater showed that the presence of REEs significantl. improved the tel.urite removal.rate(> 80%) and enhanced sel.nate removal.by 66% ± 10%. Three 3.9 l.continuous upfl.w anaerobic granul.r sl.dge bed(UASB) reactors were operated at a hydraul.c retention time of 24 h and30 °C. Sel.nate reduction was achieved with a removal.efficiency of ～ 98% with an infl.ent p H of 4.0 for more than 28 days. The effect of REEs on tel.urite removal.in the UASB bioreactor coul. not be cl.arl. establ.shed since a sol.bl. tel.urium removal.efficiency of more than 98%was observed al.eady before the addition of REEs at el.vated tel.urite concentrations. The compl.te REE removal.in both batch assays and UASB reactors at higher pH (7.0 ± 0.5) was attributed to precipitation, whereas chal.ogen oxyanions removal.was due to microbial.reduction. However, at acidic p H, biosorption was responsibl. for REE's removal. and the Se-enriched sl.dge exhibited a superior REE's removal.efficiency than the non-enriched and Te-enriched sl.dge.
