transfer learning from synthetic data for open-circuit voltage curve reconstruction and state of health estimation of lithium-ion batteries from partial charging segments

Data-driven models for battery state estimation require extensive experimental training data,which may not be available or suitable for specific tasks like open-circuit voltage(OCV)reconstruction and subsequent state of health(SOH)*** study addresses this issue by developing a transfer-learning-based OCV reconstruction model using a temporal convolutional long short-term memory(tCN-LStM)network trained on synthetic data from an automotive nickel cobalt aluminium oxide(NCA)cell generated through a mechanistic model *** data consists of voltage curves at constant temperature,C-rates between C/30 to 1C,and a SOH-range from 70%to 100%.the model is refined via Bayesian optimization and then applied to four use cases with reduced experimental nickel manganese cobalt oxide(NMC)cell training data for higher use *** tL models’performances are compared with models trained solely on experimental data,focusing on different C-rates and voltage *** results demonstrate that the OCV reconstruction mean absolute error(MAE)within the average battery electric vehicle(BEV)home charging window(30%to 85%state of charge(SOC))is less than 22 mV for the first three use cases across all *** SOH estimated from the reconstructed OCV exhibits an mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)below 2.2%for these *** study further investigates the impact of the source domain on tL by incorporating two additional synthetic datasets,a lithium iron phosphate(LFP)cell and an entirely artificial,non-existing,cell,showing that solely the shifting and scaling of gradient changes in the charging curve suffice to transfer knowledge,even between different cell chemistries.A key limitation with respect to extrapolation capability is identified and evidenced in our fourth use case,where the absence of such comprehensive data hindered the tL process.

Position, velocity, and timing（PVt） signals from the Global Positioning System（GPS）are used throughout the world but the availability and reliability of these signals in all environments has become a subject of concern for both civilian and military applications. this presentation summarizes recent advances in navigation sensor technology, including GPS, inertial, and other navigation aids that address these concerns. Also addressed are developments in sensor integration technology with several examples described, including the Bluefin-21 system mechanization.

We present a comprehensive theoretical study of conventional superconductivity in cubic antiperovskites materials with composition XYZ_(3) where X and Z are metals,and Y is H,B,C,N,O,and *** starting point are electron–phonon calculations for 397 materials performed with density-functional perturbation *** 43%of the materials are dynamically unstable,we discovered 16 compounds close to thermodynamic stability and with t_(c) higher than 5 *** these results to train interpretable machine-learning models,leads us to predict a further 57(thermodynamically unstable)materials with superconducting transition temperatures above 5 K,reaching a maximum of 17.8 K for ***,the models give us an understanding of the mechanism of superconductivity in *** combination of traditional approaches with interpretable machine learning turns out to be a very efficient methodology to study and systematize whole classes of materials and is easily extendable to other families of compounds or physical properties.

Person-centered endoscopy safety checklist: development,implementation,and evaluation

AIM to describe the development and implementation of a person-centered endoscopy safety checklist and to evaluate the effects of a "checklist intervention".MEtHODS the checklist,based on previously published safety checklists,was developed and locally adapted,taking patient safety aspects into consideration and using a person-centered approach. this novel checklist was introduced to the staff of an endoscopy unit at a Stockholm University Hospital during half-day seminars and team training sessions. Structured observations of the endoscopy team's performance were conducted before and after the introduction of the checklist. In addition,questionnaires focusing on patient participation,collaboration climate,and patient safety issues were collected from patients and staff. RESULtS A person-centered safety checklist was developed and introduced by a multi-professional group in the endoscopy unit. A statistically significant increase in accurate patient identity verification by the physicians was noted(from 0% at baseline to 87% after 10 mo,P t baseline vs 96% after 10 mo,P = nonsignificant). Observations indicated that the professional staff made frequent attempts to use the checklist,but compliance was suboptimal: All items in the observed nurse-led "summaries" were included in 56% of these interactions,and physicians participated by directly facing the patient in 50% of the interactions. On the questionnaires administered to the staff,items regarding collaboration and the importance of patient participation were rated more highly after the introduction of the checklist,but this did not result in statistical significance(P = 0.07/P = 0.08). the patients rated almost all items as very high both before and after the introduction of the checklist;hence,no statistical difference was *** the intervention led to increased patient identity verification by physicians-a patient safety improvement. Heusler compounds attract a great deal of attention from researchers thanks to a wealth of interesting properties,among which is *** we perform an extensive study of the superconducting and elastic properties of the cubic(full-)Heusler family using a mixture of ab initio methods,as well as interpretable and predictive machine-learning *** analyzing the statistical distributions of these properties and comparing them to anti-perovskites,we recognize universal behaviors that should be common to all conventional superconductors while others turn out to be specific to the material *** total,we discover a total of eight hypothetical materials with critical temperatures above 10 K to be compared with the current record of t_(c)=4.7 K in this ***,we expect most of these materials to be highly ductile,making them potential candidates for the manufacture of wires and tapes for superconducting magnets.

Comparison of phase unwrapping algorithms for living cell's interference pattern

A multiphase microscopic interference system is designed to measure the height of cell which is important to the research of collective cell migration in physiology and medicine. this sys- tem can quantitatively measure cell height across a living monolayer without knowing the refractive index of cells. For the interference pattern, because the phases are all wrapped between - π to π, it is necessary to get the real phase through phase unwrapping,a method to restore the wrapped phase data of the object by using numerical calculations. three representative algorithms are selected to unwrap the interference pattern of ceils： branch-cut method, quality-guided method and network method. Although each of them can restore the phase, their performances are obviously different. We compare these methods and find that branch-cut method needs the smallest execution time and can obtain good unwrapped patterns when noises are not serious.

Mitochondrial dysfunction as a target in spinal cord injury:intimate correlation between pathological processes and therapeutic approaches

traumatic spinal cord injuries interrupt the connection of all axonal projections with their neuronal targets below and above the lesion site. this interruption results in either temporary or permanent alterations in the locomotor, sensory, and autonomic functions. Damage in the spinal tissue prevents the re-growth of severed axons across the lesion and their reconnection with neuronal targets. therefore, the absence of spontaneous repair leads to sustained impairment in voluntary control of movement below the injury. For decades, axonal regeneration and reconnection have been considered the opitome of spinal cord injury repair with the goal being the repair of the damaged long motor and sensory tracts in a complex process that involves:(1) resealing injured axons;(2) reconstructing the cytoskeletal structure inside axons;(3) re-establishing healthy growth cones;and(4) assembling axonal cargos. these biological processes require an efficient production of adenosine triphosphate, which is affected by mitochondrial dysfunction after spinal cord injury. From a pathological standpoint, during the secondary stage of spinal cord injury, mitochondrial homeostasis is disrupted, mainly in the distal segments of severed axons. this result in a reduction of adenosine triphosphate levels and subsequent inactivation of adenosine triphosphate-dependent ion pumps required for the regulation of ion concentrations and reuptake of neurotransmitters, such as glutamate. the consequences are calcium overload, reactive oxygen species formation, and excitotoxicity. these events are intimately related to the activation of necrotic and apoptotic cell death programs, and further exacerbate the secondary stage of the injury, being a hallmark of spinal cord injury. this is why restoring mitochondrial function during the early stage of secondary injury could represent a potentially effective therapeutic intervention to overcome the motor and sensory failure produced by spinal cord injury. this
