Objective:To identify bacteria isolated from diseased Southern flounder and determine whether they are virulent to channel catfish and Nile ***:Gram-negative bacteria isolates were recovered from five tissues of diseased Southern flounder(Paralichthys lethostigma).The isolates were subjected to biochemical and molecular identification followed by virulence study in ***:Based on biochemical analysis,the 25 isolates were found to share homologies with either Edwardsiella tarda(***)or Aeromonas hydrophila(***).Based on sequencing results of partial 16S rRNA gene,15 isolates shared 100%identities with the 16S rRNA sequence of previously identified *** strain TX1,whereas the other 10 isolates shared 100%identities with the 16S rRNA sequence of previously identified *** strain *** healthy fish were exposed to flounder isolate by intracoelomic injection,the LD50 values of flounder isolate *** to channel catfish or Nile tilapia[(10±2)g]were 6.1×10^(4)and 1.1×10^(7)CFU/fish,respectively,whereas that of flounder isolate *** to channel catfish and Nile tilapia were 1.4×10^(7)and 5.6×10^(7)CFU/fish,***:This is the first report that *** and *** isolated from diseased Southern flounder are virulent to catfish and tilapia.

背景中国全科医生越来越期望能够识别和预防抑郁障碍,但其接受的心理健康培训有限,社区卫生服务中心(CHCs)也缺乏针对抑郁障碍的诊断和服务规范。WHO《心理健康差距干预指南》第2版(mhGAP-IG.v2)是为非心理健康专业人员提供的决策支持工具,可用于评估、管理、随访精神障碍、神经疾病及物质使用障碍患者。鉴于mhGAP-IG.v2的通用性,其在中国的应用应根据抑郁障碍在不同文化下的差异性和中国心理健康系统特点进行调整。方法开展两轮基于网络的德尔菲(Delphi)调查。邀请来自深圳市的全科医生小组对mhGAP-IG.v2中涉及抑郁障碍的199条表述进行五分制的赞同程度打分,即“如要把该表述用在深圳市,是否赞同调整其内容和结构”。如果>80%的全科医生“有些/肯定赞同”调整某表述,则视为全科医生对调整该表述达成共识;如果>80%的全科医生“有些/肯定不赞同”调整某表述,则视为全科医生对不调整该表述达成共识。结果全科医生对79%的表述达成了需要调整的共识,平均得分为4.26分,即全科医生“有些赞同”对mh GAP-IG.v2中涉及抑郁障碍的相关表述进行调整。具体调整建议包括:抑郁评估方法应考虑更广泛的抑郁症状,并考虑病情的发展阶段;增加抑郁筛查工具的使用指南;明确全科医生的作用,以及家庭参与和跨部门服务的转诊途径;药物治疗建议应与中国用药规范保持一致;指南所有章节要强调预防自杀;情境化健康教育;强调“以人为本”的服务方法。全科医生认为,应维持mhGAP-IG.v2中对经历抑郁发作的双相障碍患者的诊断和治疗建议。结论对mhGAP-IG.v2抑郁部分的调整研究反映出对指南的评估应考虑文化和国情背景,包括中国特色的初级卫生保健系统、健康优先领域、治疗可得性,以及多样化的社会心理教育需要。调整后的mhGAP-IG.v2可以给中国全科医学教育和全科医疗服务提供参考,也可以为其他国家的非精神病学专业人员开展心理健康服务提供有益借鉴。

Risk factors for Barrett’s oesophagus and oesophageal adenocarcinoma:Results from the FINBAR study

AIM:To investigate risk factors associated with Barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal ***:This all-Ireland population-based case-control study recruited 224 Barrett's oesophagus patients,227 oesophageal adenocarcinoma patients and 260 *** participants underwent a structured interview with information obtained about potential lifestyle and environmental risk ***:Gastro-oesophageal reflux was associated with Barrett's [OR 12.0(95% CI 7.64-18.7)] and oesophageal adenocarcinoma [OR 3.48(95% CI 2.25-5.41)].Oesophageal adenocarcinoma patients were more likely than controls to be ex-or current smokers [OR 1.72(95% CI 1.06-2.81)and OR 4.84(95% CI 2.72-8.61)respectively] and to have a high body mass index [OR 2.69(95% CI 1.62-4.46)].No significant associations were observed between these risk factors and Barrett's *** but not vegetables were negatively associated with oesophageal adenocarcinoma [OR 0.50(95% CI 0.30-0.86)].CONCLUSION:A high body mass index,a diet low in fruit and cigarette smoking may be involved in the progression from Barrett's oesophagus to oesophageal adenocarcinoma.

Early-life stress has been shown to disrupt the programming of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis which may have severe consequences in the development of neurological disorders later on in life. Prolonged early-life stressful events produce an exaggerated stress hormone response in the adult offspring. Chronic stress and elevated corticosterone levels have been found to exaggerate functional deficits and accelerate loss of dopamine producing neurons in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease. We investigated the neuroprotective effects of caffeine on 6-OHDA lesioned rats that were exposed to maternal separation stress. We examined behaviour of animals before and after the infusion of 6-OHDA using the step and cylinder tests. We also measured dopamine concentration in the striatum, mitochondrial membrane potential in the striatum and the total antioxidant capacity in blood plasma. Maternally separated rats displayed an impaired ability to initiate movement in the step test and a decreased percentage impaired limb use in the cylinder test. In the rats that received caffeine these motor deficits were ameliorated. Maternal separation exaggerated the lesion caused by 6-OHDA injection. However, the neuroprotective effects of caffeine were evident in both the stressed and non-stressed rats as shown by the higher dopamine concentration and total antioxidant capacity on caffeine treated rats. Maternally separated rats had higher mitochondrial membrane permeability when compared to the caffeine treated rats. We therefore conclude that caffeine ameliorated the neurodegeneration associated with 6-OHDA injection in maternally separated animals.

BACKGROUND Acute gastrointestinal(GI)graft-vs-host disease(aGvHD)is the most complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplant(HSCT)in patients with hematologic *** data exists on endoscopic evaluation of GvHD in post-HSCT patients with differing GI ***,the diagnostic value of gross endoscopic findings as well as the safety of endoscopy in this commonly thrombocytopenic and neutropenic patient population remains *** To understand the diagnostic value of symptoms and gross endoscopic findings as well as safety of endoscopy in aGvHD *** We analyzed 195 endoscopies performed at City of Hope in patients who underwent allogeneic HSCT less than 100 d prior for hematologic malignancy and were subsequently evaluated for aGvHD via *** yield,sensitivity,and specificity of diagnosing aGvHD were calculated for upper and lower endoscopy,various GI tract locations,and presenting *** Combined esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD)and flexible sigmoidoscopy(FS)demonstrated a greater diagnostic yield for aGvHD(83.1%)compared to EGD(66.7%)or FS(77.2%)alone with any presenting *** upper and lower GI tract demonstrated similar yields regardless of whether patients presented with diarrhea(95.7%vs 99.1%)or nausea/vomiting(97.5%vs 96.8%).Normalappearing mucosa was generally as specific(91.3%)as abnormal mucosa(58.7%-97.8%)for the presence of *** events such as bleeding(1.0%),infection(1.0%),and perforation(0.5%)only occurred in a small proportion of patients,with no significant differences in those with underlying thrombocytopenia(P=1.000)and neutropenia(P=0.425).CONCLUSION Combined EGD and FS with biopsies of normal and inflamed mucosa demonstrated the greatest diagnostic yield regardless of presenting symptom and appears to be safe in this population of patients.

Literature review indicates that most studies on pavement management have been on reconstruction and rehabilitation, but not on maintenance;this includes routine, corrective and preventive maintenance. This study developed linear regression models to estimate the total maintenance cost and component costs for labor, materials, equipment, and stockpile. The data used in the model development were extracted from the pavement and maintenance management systems of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT). The life cycle maintenance strategies adopted by NDOT for five maintenance prioritization categories were used as the basis for developing the regression models of this study. These regression models are specified for each stage of life-cycle maintenance strategies. The models indicate that age, traffic flow, elevation, type of maintenance, maintenance schedule, life cycle stage, and the districts where maintenances are performed all are important factors that influence the magnitude of the costs. Because these models have embedded the road conditions into the life-cycle stage and type of maintenance performed, they can be easily integrated into existing pavement management systems for implementation.

Distribution and their pollution assessment of heavy metals in the sediments of the Yalu River Estuary and its adjacent coastal waters

The present paper deals with the distribution patterns of heavy metals and the associated influenc- ing factors in the Yalu River Estuary and its adjacent coastal waters. Based upon the analysis of the surficial and core sediments measurements, the pollution of heavy metal and potentiM ecological risk were evaluated. The burial flux and contents of heavy metals （except for copper） have been continuously increasing since the 1920s. Therefore, the gross potential ecological risk for the sedi- ments was high or very high, and the study area was endangered by heavy metals contamination. Heavy metals originated mainly from upstream pollutant input, correlation analysis showed that chromium, nickel, zinc~ cadmium, lead, arsenic, and mercury in the sediments of the middle and west channels as well as the sea area of the western Yalu River Estuary concentrations were most probably derived from similar sources. In contrast, the metal of copper most probably originated from sources different from the other metals. Preliminary studies indicate that copper contamina- tion was most likely the result of emission from mining activities situated at the upstream of the river. The contents of heavy metals in the sediments of estuarine turbidity maximum zone of Yalu River were larger than those of any other areas in the middle channel. With large portion of fine sediments, weaker hydrodynamics, and richer sources of heavy metals, the sediments of the west channel, were even more enriched with heavy metals than those of the middle channel.

A field survey was carried out to determine the vegetation structure of the Lukanga Swamp Ramsar site in central Zambia. The aim of the study was to identify the different vegetation communities, species composition and distribution patterns for improved habitat management. Sampling was conducted in all recognizable vegetation communities. The results of the survey showed that the swamp was a littoral palustrine wetland predominantly characterized by the dominance of Leersia hexandria Swartz (42.02%), Typha capensis Rohrb (62.43%), Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex Steud (33.61%), Aeschynomeme fluitans Peter (31.58%) and Polygonum senegalense Meisn (48.8%). The occurrence of vossia cuspidata Griff and Cyperus papyrusL was restricted to small and isolated locations. Short Termitaria was generally covered by Acrocerus macrum Stapf (35.25%) while tall Termitaria was dominated by Panicum maximum Jacq. (26.00%). The most important woody plant species included Combretum ghasalense Engl. et Diels (I. v = 62.88), Pseudolachnostylis maprouneifolia Pax ((I. v = 90.48), Albizia adianthifolia (Schmacher) W.F. Wight (I. v = 135.63) Isoberlinia angolensis Hyle and Brenan (I. v = 87.25). The current structure of the hydrophytes composition observed in this study was an indication of a generally silting wetland, while the dominant occurrence of understorey woody plants in the surrounding vegetation signified degraded miombo vegetation. It was concluded that the ecological status of wetland habitat was potentially threatened by mainly anthropogenic activities such as;wildfires, and unsustainable exploitation of surrounding vegetation. Further research is required to examine water flows, eutrophication and the long-term effects of deforestation on the ecological functioning of the wetland.
