Smart grid is envisaged as a power grid that is extremely reliable and *** electrical grid has wide-area measuring devices like Phasor measurement units(PMUs)deployed to provide real-time grid information and resolve issues effectively and speedily without compromising system *** development and application of machine learning approaches for power system protection and state estimation have been facilitated by the availability of measurement *** research proposes a transmission line fault detection and classification(FD&C)system based on an auto-encoder neural network.A comparison between a Multi-Layer Extreme Learning Machine(ML-ELM)network model and a Stacked Auto-Encoder neural network(SAE)is ***,the performance of the models developed is compared to that of state-of-the-art classifier models employing feature datasets acquired by wavelet transform based feature extraction as well as other deep learning *** substantially shorter testing time,the suggested auto-encoder models detect faults with 100% accuracy and classify faults with 99.92% and 99.79%*** computational efficiency of the ML-ELM model is demonstrated with high accuracy of classification with training time and testing time less than 50 *** emulate real system scenarios the models are developed with datasets with noise with signal-to-noise-ratio(SNR)ranging from 10 dB to 40 *** efficacy of the models is demonstrated with data from the IEEE 39 bus test system.

Painful sesamoid of the great toe

The painful sesamoid can be a chronic and disabling problem and isolating the cause can be far from straightforward. There are a number of forefoot pathologies that can present similarly to sesmoid pathologies and likewise identifying the particular cause of sesamoid pain can be challenging. Modern imaging techniques can be helpful. This article reviews the anatomy,development and morphological variability present in the sesamoids of the great toe. We review evidence on approach to history, diagnosis and investigation of sesamoid pain. Differential diagnoses and management strategies, including conservative and operative are outlined. Our recommendations are that early consideration of magnetic resonance imaging and discussion with a specialist musculoskeletal radiologist may help to identify a cause of pain accurately and quickly. Conservative measures should be first line in most *** fracture and avascular necrosis can be ruled out,injection under fluoroscopic guidance may help to avoid operative intervention.

Evaluation of antiplasmodial properties in 15 selected traditional medicinal plants from India

Objective:The objective of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antiplasmodial properties against malaria parasite in 15 plants mentioned in Indian traditional medicine ***:In vitro antiplasmodial activity of methanolic extracts obtained from Indian traditional medicinal plants was evaluated on Plasmodium falciparum of FCK2 and INDO strains using schizont maturation inhibition assay and parasite lactate dehydrogenase inhibition ***:Methanolic extracts of Adhatoda zeylanica,Embelia ribes,Piper nigrum and Plumbago zeylanica exhibited more than 50%inhibition in both the stains in schizont maturation inhibition *** extracts of seven medicinal plants exhibited antiplasmodial activity at half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)ve medicinal plants exhibited antiplasmodial activity at IC50vity in PfLDH inhibition *** and *** exhibited improved activity against resistant in comparison to sensitive ***:*** and *** were the most promising extracts from this study and deserve further investigation of their antiplasmodial properties.

Aim: To observe the alterations in the biochemical and biophysical changes in the sperm membrane during sperm maturation in male rats treated with the water extract of the fruit pericarp of S. mukorossi. Methods: Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were gavaged the aqueous extract of the fruit pericarp of S. mukorossi at a dose of 50 mg/kg/d for 45 days. On day 46, the sperm parameters were observed in different sections of the epididymis and the sperm superoxide dismutase and the lipid peroxidation was determined and compared with the controls. The testis and epididymis were routinely prepared for histological examination under the light microscope. Results: No significant differences in the sperm number and morphology were observed between the control and treated groups. However, a significant inhibition (Pvity, being minimum in the caput and maximum in the corpus, which was just opposite to that of the controls. Conclusion: The study provides a unique observation where the plant extract alters the sperm membrane physiology without change the testicular and epididymal morphology.

With the increasing use of humanoid robots in several sectors of industrial automation and manufacturing, navigation and path planning of humanoids has emerged as one of the most promising area of research. In this paper, a navigational controller has been developed for a humanoid by using fuzzy logic as an intelligent algorithm for avoiding the obstacles present in the environment and reach the desired target position safely. Here, the controller has been designed by careful consideration of the navigational parameters by the help of fuzzy rules. The sensory information regarding obstacle distances and bearing angle towards the target are considered as inputs to the controller and necessary velocities for avoiding the obstacles are obtained as outputs. The working of the controller has been tested on a NAO humanoid robot in v-REP simulation platform. To validate the simulation results, an experimental platform has been designed under laboratory conditions, and experimental analysis has been ***, the results obtained from both the environments are compared against each other with a good agreement between them.

Ebola virus disease: past, present and future

Ebola virus disease is one of the most deadly ailments known to mankind due to its high mortality rate(up to 90%) accompanying with the disease. Ebola haemorrhagic fever(EHF) is an infectious disease of animal that can be transmitted to both human and non-human primates. The first epidemic of EHF occurred in 1976 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The incubation period of ebola is less than 21 days. Ebola virus infections are depicted by immune suppression and a systemic inflammatory response that leads to damage of the vascular, coagulation and immune systems, causing multi-organ failure and shock. Five genetically distinct members of the Filoviridae family responsible for EHF are as follows: Zaire ebolavirus, Sudan ebolavirus, C?te d'Ivoire ebolavirus, Bundibugyo ebolavirus and Reston ebolavirus. The ongoing 2014 West Africa ebola epidemic has been considered as the most serious panic in the medical field with respect to both the number of human cases and death toll. The natural host for ebola virus is unknown, thus it is not possible to carry out programs to regulate or abolish virus from transmission to people. The ebola virus infection provides little chance to develop acquired immunity causing rapid progression of the disease. It is pertinent to mention that at present, there is no antiviral therapy or vaccine that is helpful against ebola virus infection in humans. The impediment of EHF necessitates much better understanding of the epidemiology of the disease, particularly the role of wildlife, as well as bats, in the spread of ebola virus to humans.

Pitavastatin belongs to the class of coenzyme A reductase *** few methods of assaying pitavastatin from human plasma are available in *** analytical method is presented for the determination of the drug from human plasma making use of the fluorescent property of the *** drug is extracted from plasma using ethyl acetate under neutral condition and then analyzed by reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) with fluorescence detection(λEx 245 nm;λEm 420 nm).Analysis of pitavastatin was carried out on a C18 HPLC column using a gradient flow of mobile phase(0.01 mol/L monobasic potassium phosphate(pH 3.20)-acetonitrile,63:37,v/v).Fluorescein isothiocyanate was used as internal *** dynamic range of assay was 3 to 50 ng/*** intraday precision was less than 10% and accuracy ranged from 95.2% to 112.6%.The same for interday check was less than 12% and 92.8% to 105.1%,*** drug was found to be stable under the assay *** developed method is simple,precise,accurate,and *** indicates that it can be applied to routine analysis of this drug in human subjects where there are large numbers of samples without the need of specialized instruments like column switching.

Combinatorial Effects of SDF-1 and CCL3L1 Gene variants and Susceptibility to HIv-1/AIDS in Indian Population

HIv-1 infection requires the expression of CD4＋ molecules in colligation with C-C chemokine receptor type 5 （CCR5） and C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 （CXCR4） as the major coreceptors. The role of SNP in 3＇ untranslated region ofSDF-1 （SDF1-3 ＇A） and low copy number （CN） of the CCL3L1 gene is reported to confer increased resistance to HIv-1 infection. The aim of the present study was to analyze the combinatorial effect of both the variations in protection towards HIv-1 infection in Indian population. The combinatorial effect of genetic variation in terms of SNP in SDF-1 gene and CCL3L1 CN was investigated in 105 healthy individuals and 78 HIv-I patients. Genotyping of SDF-1 was performed by RFLP-PCR and CCL3L1 by real-time PCR using TaqMan chemistry. The genotype frequency distribution of SDF-1 was found to be （SDF-1/SDF-I： 65.4%, SDF-1/SDF1-3＇A： 29.5% and SDFI-3＇A/SDF1-3＇A- 5.1%） in HIv patients as compared to （SDF-1/SDF-I： 64.8%, SDF-1/SDF1-3＇A： 30.5% and SDF1-3 ＇A/SDF1-3 ＇A： 4.7%） in healthy individuals, whereas a range of 1 to 6 copies per diploid genome was observed for CCL3L1 gene.
