Wound healing is a dynamic process that involves a series of molecular and cellular events aimed at replacing devitalized and missing cellular components and/or tissue layers.Recently,extracellular vesicles(EVs),naturally cell-secreted lipid membrane-bound vesicles laden with biological cargos including proteins,lipids,and nucleic acids,have drawn wide attention due to their ability to promote wound healing and tissue regeneration.However,current exploitation of EVs as therapeutic agents is limited by their low isolation yields and tedious isolation processes.To circumvent these challenges,bioinspired cell-derived nanovesicles(CDNs)that mimic EVs were obtained by shearing mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)through membranes with different pore sizes.Physical characterisations and highthroughput proteomics confirmed that MSC-CDNs mimicked MSC-EVs.Moreover,these MSC-CDNs were efficiently uptaken by human dermal fibroblasts and demonstrated a dose-dependent activation of MAPk signalling pathway,resulting in enhancement of cell proliferation,cell migration,secretion of growth factors and extracellular matrix proteins,which all promoted tissue regeneration.Of note,MSC-CDNs enhanced angiogenesis in human dermal microvascular endothelial cells in a 3D PEGfibrin scaffold and animal model,accelerating wound healing in vitro and in vivo.These findings suggest that MSC-CDNs could replace both whole cells and EVs in promoting wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Objective:To report a new species of sandfly,Sergentomyia(Neophlebotomus)ashwanii sp.nov.(Diptera:Psychodidae)from Western Ghats,India.Methods:A systematic sandfly survey was conducted in the Thrissur and kollam districts of kerala,India using mechanical aspirators,light and sticky traps,both indoor and outdoor habitats,for a period of one year.Deoxyribonucleic acid barcoding of samples was performed targeting mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I(COI)gene and sequence generated was subjected to phylogenetic analysis.Results:Sergentomyia(Neophlebotomus)ashwanii,a new sandfly species is recorded and described in this communication.A single row of 10-12 pointed teeth in the cibarium with 4-6 small denticles or fore-teeth are the key characteristics that is distinctive from other members of the subgenus Neophlebotomus.Mitochondrial COI barcode followed by phylogenetic analysis of the nucleotide sequence confirms that specimens of the species belong to the same taxonomic group while the genetic distance(14.2%)with the congeners established it to be a different species.Conclusions:The Western Ghats'being an important biodiversity hotspot and has dearth of systematic entomological surveys on sandflies.The current study tried to fill the void and also report a new sandfly species.

Recharge and vulnerability assessment of groundwater resources in North west India:Insights from isotope-geospatial modelling approach

Recent studies indicate dwindling groundwater quantity and quality of the largest regional aquifer system in North West India,raising concern over freshwater availability to about 182 million population residing in this region.Widespread agricultural activities have resulted severe groundwater pollution in this area,demanding a systematic vulnerability assessment for proactive measures.Conventional vulnerability assessment models encounter drawbacks due to subjectivity,complexity,data-prerequisites,and spatial-temporal constraints.This study incorporates isotopic information into a weighted-overlay framework to overcome the above-mentioned limitations and proposes a novel vulnerability assessment model.The isotope methodology provides crucial insights on groundwater recharge mechanisms(18O and 2H)and dynamics(3H)-often ignored in vulnerability assessment.Isotopic characterisation of precipitation helped in establishing Local Meteoric Water Line(LMWL)as well as inferring contrasting recharge mechanisms operating in different aquifers.Shallow aquifer(depthkernel Density Estimate(kDE)and isotope correlations.A weighted overlay isotope-geospatial model was developed combining 18O,3H,aquifer permeability,and water level data.The central and northern parts of study area fall under least(0.29%)and extremely(1.79%)vulnerable zones respectively,while majority of the study area fall under moderate(42.71%)and highly vulnerable zones(55.20%).Model validation was performed using groundwater NO3-concentration,which showed an overall accuracy up to 82%.Monte Carlo Simulation(MCS)was performed for sensitivity analysis and permeability was found to be the most sensitive input parameter,followed by 3H,18O,and water level.Comparing the vulnerability map with Land Use Land Cover(LULC)and population density maps helped in precisely identifying the high-risk s

Emerging 5G communication solutions utilize the millimeter wave(mmWave)band to alleviate the spectrum deficit.In the mmWave range,Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO)technologies support a large number of simultaneous users.In mmWave MIMO wireless systems,hybrid analog/digital precoding topologies provide a reduced complexity substitute for digital precoding.Bit Error Rate(BER)and Spectral efficiency performances can be improved by hybrid Minimum Mean Square Error(MMSE)precoding,but the computation involves matrix inversion process.The number of antennas at the broadcasting and receiving ends is quite large for mm-wave MIMO systems,thus computing the inverse of a matrix of such high dimension may not be practically feasible.Due to the need for matrix inversion and known candidate matrices,the classic Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(OMP)approach will be more complicated.The novelty of research presented in this manuscript is to create a hybrid precoder for mmWave communication systems using metaheuristic algorithms that do not require matrix inversion processing.The metaheuristic approach has not employed much in the formulation of a precoder in wireless systems.Five distinct evolutionary algorithms,such as Harris–Hawks Optimization(HHO),Runge–kutta Optimization(RUN),Slime Mould Algorithm(SMA),Hunger Game Search(HGS)Algorithm and Aquila Optimizer(AO)are considered to design optimal hybrid precoder for downlink transmission and their performances are tested under similar practical conditions.According to simulation studies,the RUN-based precoder performs better than the conventional algorithms and other nature-inspired algorithms based precoding in terms of spectral efficiency and BER.

Thermodynamic Performance and Flammability Studies of Hydrocarbon Based Low Global Warming Potential Refrigerant Mixtures

This paper presents a theoretical method to calculate the minimum inerting concentration(MIC)of binary and ternary blends(refrigerants)that are used in small refrigeration systems.MIC is the concentration of the dilutant which makes the flammable mixture into just non-flammable(at non-zero quenching potential).In this study,the refrigerant safety parameters such as flammability,Global Warming Potential(GWP)and performance(COP)are analyzed for twelve binary and thirteen ternary blends containing one flammable and two nonflammable(dilutant)components.Flammability investigation was carried out with the hydrocarbon refrigerants R290,R600,R600a each mixed with dilutants R227ea,R125,R245fa,R13I1 and R134a at different concentrations respectively.Two methods,thermal balance method(TBM)and modified thermal balanced method(MTBM),are used to estimate the MIC(which decides the flammable zone).Thirteen ternary blends were identified based on the MIC values estimated using MTBM.In the case of ternary blends,it was observed that the non-flammable zone is high for the compositions of the Mixture G,Mixture H and Mixture I.It was also estimated that the COPs of the proposed mixtures M22,M24,M25 and M27 are 4%greater than the COP of R134a(for the same operating conditions).Further,it was also understood that the corresponding GWP value is reduced by 90%to 97%for the mixtures(M21,M22,M24,M25 and M27)when compared to R134a(GWP=1300).Therefore,out of the thirteen proposed ternary mixtures(M15 to M27),the mixtures(M21,M22,M24,M25 and M27)are safe in terms of flammability,GWP and possess reasonable COP which can be a potential alternative refrigerant mixture to R134a in small refrigeration systems.

Real-time applications based on Wireless Sensor Network(WSN)tech-nologies quickly lead to the growth of an intelligent environment.Sensor nodes play an essential role in distributing information from networking and its transfer to the sinks.The ability of dynamical technologies and related techniques to be aided by data collection and analysis across the Internet of Things(IoT)network is widely recognized.Sensor nodes are low-power devices with low power devices,storage,and quantitative processing capabilities.The existing system uses the Artiﬁcial Immune System-Particle Swarm Optimization method to mini-mize the energy and improve the network’s lifespan.In the proposed system,a hybrid Energy Efﬁcient and Reliable Ant Colony Optimization(ACO)based on the Routing protocol(E-RARP)and game theory-based energy-efﬁcient clus-tering algorithm(GEC)were used.E-RARP is a new Energy Efﬁcient,and Reli-able ACO-based Routing Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks.The suggested protocol provides communications dependability and high-quality channels of communication to improve energy.For wireless sensor networks,a game theo-ry-based energy-efﬁcient clustering technique(GEC)is used,in which each sen-sor node is treated as a player on the team.The sensor node can choose beneﬁcial methods for itself,determined by the length of idle playback time in the active phase,and then decide whether or not to rest.The proposed E-RARP-GEC improves the network’s lifetime and data transmission;it also takes a minimum amount of energy compared with the existing algorithms.

Retailing is a dynamic business domain where commodities and goods are sold in small quantities directly to the customers.It deals with the end user customers of a supply-chain network and therefore has to accommodate the needs and desires of a large group of customers over varied utilities.The volume and volatility of the business makes it one of the prospectiveﬁelds for analytical study and data modeling.This is also why customer segmentation drives a key role in multiple retail business decisions such as marketing budgeting,customer targeting,customized offers,value proposition etc.The segmentation could be on various aspects such as demographics,historic behavior or preferences based on the use cases.In this paper,historic retail transactional data is used to segment the custo-mers using k-Means clustering and the results are utilized to arrive at a transition matrix which is used to predict the cluster movements over the time period using Markov Model algorithm.This helps in calculating the futuristic value a segment or a customer brings to the business.Strategic marketing designs and budgeting can be implemented using these results.The study is speciﬁcally useful for large scale marketing in domains such as e-commerce,insurance or retailers to segment,proﬁle and measure the customer lifecycle value over a short period of time.
