Acute salbutamol toxicity in the emergency department:A case report

Dear editor,Salbutamol is a common medication used in a varietyof clinical settings. While there have been many reportedcases of orally ingested salbutamol toxicity, there haveonly been a few reports of inhaled salbutamol *** describe a case of acute inhaled salbutamol toxicitywith a combination of clinical findings that have notbeen previously reported together in a single case. Giventhe ubiquitous use of salbutamol, many patients mayexperience symptoms of overdose on a spectrum thatranges from mild side eff ects to severe toxicity, which maybe under-recognized by emergency physicians. We believethat it is important for all emergency clinicians to be awareof and recognize the syndrome of β2-agonist toxicity.

In this paper we have searched for the existence of Lyra’s cosmology in a hybrid universe with minimal interaction between dark energy and normal matter using Bianchi-V space-time. To derive the exact solution, the average scale factor is taken as a =(t~nekt)1/m which describes the hybrid nature of the scale factor and generates a model of the transitioning universe from the early deceleration phase to the present acceleration phase. The quintessence model makes the matter content of the derived universe remarkably able to satisfy the null, dominant and strong energy condition. It has been found that the time varying displacement β(t) co-relates with the nature of cosmological constant Λ(t). We also discuss some physical and geometrical features of the universe.

The effects of annealing temperature on the sol–gel-derived ZnO thin films deposited on n-Sh100 i substrates by sol–gel spin coating method have been studied in this *** structural,optical,and electrical properties of ZnO thin films annealed at 450,550,and 650 °C in the Ar gas atmosphere have been investigated in a systematic *** XRD analysis shows a polycrystalline nature of the films at all three annealing ***,the crystallite size is observed to be increased with the annealing temperature,whereas the positions of various peaks in the XRD spectra are found to be red-shifted with the *** surface morphology studied through the scanning electron microscopy measurements shows a uniform distribution of ZnO nanoparticles over the entire Si substrates of enhanced grain sizes with the annealing *** properties investigated by photoluminescence spectroscopy shows an optical band gap varying in the range of 3.28–3.15 eV as annealing temperature is increased from 450 to 650 °C,*** fourpoint probe measurement shows a decrease in resistivity from 2：1 10 2to 8：1 10 4X cm with the increased temperature from 450 to 650 °*** study could be useful for studying the sol–gel-derived ZnO thin film-based devices for various electronic,optoelectronic,and gas sensing applications.

This paper reports the state of art in a variety of pressure and the detailed study of various matrix based pressure sensors. The performances of the bridges, buildings, etc. are threatened by earthquakes, material degradations, and other environmental effects. Structural health monitoring （SHM） is crucial to protect the people and also for assets planning. This study is a contribution in developing the knowledge about self-sensing smart materials and structures for the construction industry. It deals with the study of self-sensing as well as mechanical and electrical properties of different matrices based on pressure sensors. The relationships among the compression, tensile strain, and crack length with electrical resistance change are also reviewed.

The problem of the creeping flow through a spherical droplet with a non-homogenous porous layer in a spherical container has been studied ***’s model for the flow inside the porous annular region and the Stokes equation for the flow inside the spherical cavity and container are used to analyze the *** drag force is exerted on the porous spherical particles enclosing a cavity,and the hydrodynamic permeability of the spherical droplet with a non-homogeneous porous layer is *** is placed on the spatially varying permeability of a porous medium,which is not covered in all the previous works related to spherical *** variation of hydrodynamic permeability and the wall effect with respect to various flow parameters are presented and discussed *** streamlines are presented to discuss the kinematics of the *** previous results for hydrodynamic permeability and drag forces have been verified as special limiting cases.

Plantago psyllium mucilage(PSY),an anionic natural polysaccharide consisting of pentosan and uronic acidobtained from the seeds of Plantago psyllium(Plantago family),was grafted with acrylonitrile(AN).Graft copolymers wereprepared by ceric ion initiated solution polymerization technique and were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy,scanningelectron microscopy and differential scanning *** copolymers are good flocculating agents for removal ofsuspended(SS)and total dissolved solid(TDS)in sewage wastewater *** effects of copolymer dose,pH andcontact time on flocculation capacity of one selected copolymer sample were studied by jar test *** suitable pHrange for maximum solid removal was 7.0 to 9.2 and the optimum copolymer dose was 1.2 mg/*** overall process forsolid removal took 4 h.X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns of grafted copolymer,PSY grafted polyacrylonitrile(PSY-g-PAN)and solid waste,before and after treatment are used to suggest the interaction of the solid waste with PSY-g-PAN copolymer.

Analysis of silicon-based integrated photovoltaic–electrochemical hydrogen generation system under varying temperature and illumination

Last decade witnessed tremendous research and development in the area of photo-electrolytic hydrogen generation using chemically stable nanostructured photo-cathode/anode materials. Due to intimately coupled charge separation and photo-catalytic processes, it is very difficult to optimize individual components of such system leading to a very low demonstrated solar-to-fuel efficiency (SFE) of less than 1%. Recently there has been growing interest in an integrated photovoltaic–electrochemical (PV–EC) system based on GaAs solar cells with the demonstrated SFE of 24.5% under concentrated illumination condition. But a high cost of GaAs based solar cells and recent price drop of poly-crystalline silicon (pc-Si) solar cells motivated researchers to explore silicon based integrated PV–EC system. In this paper a theoretical framework is introduced to model silicon-based integrated PV–EC device. The theoretical framework is used to analyze the coupling and kinetic losses of a silicon solar cell based integrated PV–EC water splitting system under varying temperature and illumination. The kinetic loss occurs in the range of 19.1%–27.9% and coupling loss takes place in the range of 5.45%–6.74% with respect to varying illumination in the range of 20–100 mW/cm2. Similarly, the effect of varying temperature has severe impact on the performance of the system, wherein the coupling loss occurs in the range of 0.84%–21.51% for the temperature variation from 25 to 50 °C. © 2016 Science Press

Aircraft on ground or down-time for its maintenance is a clear loss in revenue for an airline operation. With never ending competition and growing operating costs of aircraft, airlines continuously need to explore opportunities to reduce the aircraft down-time in order to remain sustainable. Due to round the clock operation feature of scheduled airlines, aircraft maintenance operations are generally carried out using traditional management methodologies instead of considering it as a project. Though aircraft heavy maintenance checks consist of several major tasks that can last from few weeks to a year, the maintenance organisations do not adopt modern project management methodologies. Therefore, this paper models a heavy maintenance check of an Airbus aircraft as a typical project and adopts contemporary project management methodology to explore the possibility of reducing the downtime. To this end, a case study has been done at an aircraft maintenance company to analyse the potential of this project management method in aircraft maintenance industry.
